This one isn't based any cinematic critter. It's inspired by descriptions of haunts I'd read of in various collections of "true ghost stories". Somehow the human ghosts never sounded as frightening as the other THINGS that were occasionally encountered.
I confess my ignorance, but what exactly is that ghost suppossed to be? Is it, as you sortof said, a "thing" that isn't meant to be understood, or is there an inspiration behind it? Just curious, as I don't really get the pic that much.

It's inspired by ghost stories I read as a kid. The scariest ghosts weren't shades of people, they were the undefined things - shapes without heads, animals that had no feet, malevolent formless presences. The haunt illustrated above is one of those undefined things - floating eyes, no head, mouthless devouring teeth.
