Well I been trying to think up a good unique sharklike monster for years and finally I decided to use an old highly disrespected beast as a handle.
I present, a new zigra...

More sharklike, I may use him in a fanfic, or rather a sequel to one I'v been working on for years. I already have the mutated blood of something raining down into the japan trench I figure zigra could be a mutated deepsea shark.

And for his land form this came to mind.

Dangit! Theres that stain again!
Oh well, I tried to make it look like a true toho-esqu monster (I know, he's a daiei monster but I wanted a toho one) by making him, 1. Multi-formed, and 2. making him a mutation which superficially resembles what it once was but the end result is something completely different once it finishes mutating (do destroyah, biollante, megaguirus, or orga really look like a crustacean, a rose, a dragonfly, or godzilla?) Also he has a connection to godzilla via origin (he is the byproduct of when godzilla killed a monster that was created when he killed a human, if that counts.)
Powers-wise, i think maybe energizing his tail fins and projecting a yellow energy torpedo which could stun enemies much like a glorified thresher shark.

I like it, as a original kaiju. As Zigra, I don't know, it doesn't have it's charm.

Those are excellent drawings, and I love the design- but I have to agree, it just isn't Zigra. However, if you just gave him a new name and kept that Toho origin, I think he'd work great as an original kaiju. I really like the left side pic of him in his land form. :)

Not zigra huh? Hmm..I thought I had captured all his elements, the armor, the one toe, the beak, the pointy razor fins, if slightly based on the cover for "up from the depths".

I thought about naming him geogyora but I figured then he would look like a zigra rip off. Dang, I thought I pulled a Gfw gigan on this. Oh well, what was it about zigra i missed?

The really cool design of the original Zigra is very difficult to top I think, but personally I love these drawings, especially the the first one! I wish I had a tenth of the drawing talent you do Bio!

Well, I think the armor should be more obvious, maybe thats whats doing it in. Now is it the head, or the lack of arms that mad zigra zigra?

Well, a few things that really set them apart:

*Zigra never actually had arms, just fins
*Zigra's shark snout was more of a horn, and he had a beak
*Zigra was a lil chubbier in his land form

Personally, I like your version much better, but hey. :p

Well a change in chubbyness is always part of a redo. I dunno why I thought I had to change the snout since some real sharks have that. The arms...well it's just making those razor fins more useable. I think I know where i went wrong.

Well I came to the conclusion that it was the head that went wrong so I made this:

Does this suit the old shark bird thingy more? I don't feel like redrawing all the pics so just imagine this head on the others, it was the head that I got wrong right?

Other than the long neck, I think that head looks much more like Zigra.

Looks like Destroyah to me...

Not bad. Indeed, it does look like a Zigra/Destroyer hybrid of sorts. I especially like him in his swimming mode. The pictures of him standing up made him look a little too much like some sort of mutant Gyaos, but I think the re-drawing of the head may have fixed that.

Yeah, looking at your avatar now next to it I do see something of a destroyah ambience. What can I say? I'm more practiced at jagged exoskeletons than any other kind of hide.
I may try to post an update puc later on.

Since you all like the first form so much I think I'll try that with the new head.
But what do you all think of the new version of the paralyisis ray? I made it more sharklike and not quite a one hit K.O.

thanks to everyone for their complements and constructive criticism!

Hmm, about the new paralysis weapon, is it only a temporary effect? I'm wondering what the difference between the two effects is.

And, I'd really hate to say this, Bio, but I think I may like your redo of Zigra better than Clint's New Era redo (though, my opinion on his version may change once I actually read about it in action; Clint's Jet Jaguar redo gave some interesting tidbits about the future of his Zigra). God, he'd smite me from existence if he ever read that
