Some people have a hard time getting into the older Ultraman shows, I have no reason why, but they do. It maybe the funky clothes, people just want to repress the evil thoughts of the 60's and 70's. I, for one, like seeing those funky graphics and moves, along with some impressive stories. But I think it's hard for non-Ultraman fans to swallow some of the shows, but there are a few that are very easy to get through.
UltraSeven Japan's favorite Ultraman, has returned more than any other Ultraman, has been giving several movies, a new series and tons of merchandise. But the key to his fame lays in his original series. His series was darker than the original one, struggling with corrupt aliens and the wrongful doings of humans.
This series is easily one of the best Ultraman series; it has everything from decapitation to human drama. Though, some may be turned away from this series, because this Ultraman series is heavy on the alien invasion or take over. But the action always stays hot to keep you interested.
Ultraman Towards the Future or just Ultraman Great The first series to be shot entirely in English and my favorite of all Ultraman series. It might not be the strongest series, but it packs a punch from the beginning with my favorite kaiju, Gudis taking over the show, infecting whatever organism or god, it can touch. Also, Some great human drama along the way, with old friends returning and lovers being infected.
Though, I have to say the second half of this series, after Gudis is finally defeated, is less engaging, but still kept me interested. The second half deals with more earthly Kaiju were we get to see some great stories and characters emerge.
Overall, the easiest Ultraman show for a non-watcher to get into. Simply because it's in English and is a lot shorter than the other series, only 13 episodes opposed to 49 or 50+ shows.
From my own experience, I am saying that these two are the easiest ones for a non-watcher to get into. The others may scare them away, like Taro's haughtiness of being the best could turn some away, even me. Or Ultraman Powered's slow, slow fights that are all, but impressive.
