View Full Version : The Grand Finale (and THE SEQUEL?)

What will be the "ultimate showdown", when all is said and done? Will it be an all-out attack by every alien race and/or kaiju? Will it climax in one final fight between the few races left standing after a book-long war? Will it focus on alien or kaiju? And in either case, who will they be? Godzilla, I think, will likely be among the last to go, and thus will hang around for one last battle with alien and/or kaiju. Who or what should it be in that case? And will Godzilla die? If we're really serious about a sequel, who and what do we want to survive into the next saga? Given, some of us, like Mcha-Rodan, have control over an enitre alien empire that may never even be seen in our story, and therefore, should his Kilaaks be destroyed, he's got plenty of back-up for a sequel.:p However, others, like the Mysterains, are the last of their kind; should they die, they're dead--end of their story. But even if a sequel is just wishful thinking, we nonetheless need to figure out who and what will live and die. And that includes the earth.
Just for refrence, if every race was to be destroyed, here are the current possiblities for those to make it into the next book:
Kilaaks (i.e., the far-away Iron Empire)
Millennians (who knows how many there are out there)
Xilians (At least two will live through the end, as I've already got their fates planed out)
Simeons (though their home world is dieing, they're still there [but for how long?])
Nebulans (only in the case that all of them haven't already left SpaceHunter for Earth)
Shobijin (them and Mothra can fly into space)
Battra (same reason)
Gyoas
A Ghidorah, perhaps?:dontgetit
And that's it. Of course, we're still early in the making of this story, so ANYTHING can happen; the Kilaaks (all of 'em) may end up doomed, and the Mu Empire may end up controling the universe. Who knows? Hence, we need to make some choices.

I was kind of planning on having something unexpected come around and destroy the Kilaaks at the end. Since I do have the Iron Empire to play with in any possible sequels, the Kilaaks are expendable. ;)
As for Godzilla... I said it once, and I'll say it again. We should just leave him as "missing in action." That way we leave something for everyone to play around with in their minds while we regroup for a sequel. Also, I was kind of planning on having him get a dose of the Kilaak's Volcano-Activating Energy weapons... And we saw what they did to King Ghidorah. :darklord:

These are indeed very good points to consider! I believe it's been mentioned that this tale is already looking to be of "epic" proportions as it is. In addition to the wondrous "parts not necessarily in order" already written, there will no doubt need to be ADDITIONAL prose to "tie it all together", provide transitions among various locales, etc. Our "Characters" list seems a little short so a few more of them might pop up.
I think it's pretty much been agreed that the Earth in going to be in bad shape, any way you look at it. Will it be to the point of near extinction for mankind? Should Mu be utterly destroyed, even if the surface dwellers are now only becoming aware of its existance? Will surviving Earthlings take refuge underground with the Seatopians (if the Nebulans don't annihilate them also)?
As for Godzilla (and maybe even Gamera), their apparent "deaths" should really add to the drama IMO! Maybe kaiju will prove to be the aliens' downfall even.
The Earth Defense Forces seem to have been neglected lately. I'm sure the U.S. (and maybe even another power) just MIGHT be able to put up a decent showing. This isn't going to be no ID-4, that's for sure! :darklord:
The aliens have been waiting a long time (almost 50 years in some cases!) for this opportunity and now it seems they are ready to make their move. We can't treat this monumental chapter in Earth's history lightly. Even if they are repelled or destroyed for their efforts, I'd say the aftermath should be right up there with the K-T event myself. Now THAT should present a most interesting premise for a sequel!

I foresee Burning Godzilla in the making....:darklord:

When everything is finished and we all know exactly what will happen and all story parts are submitted, I (and one or to others) will go through and write the needed additions to tie everything in and make it seem more as if you were reading a novel. Then, it'll be submitted to the rest of the group to consider, and suggest changes to it until we get what we want.
I'm sure the U.S. (and maybe even another power) just MIGHT be able to put up a decent showing.
I'm asuming that no one nation will stand a chance against the aliens, and thus the ENITRE earth (and all in it) would need to ally together to put up any kind of fight at all.:)
I'd say the aftermath should be right up there with the K-T event myself.
K-T?

I foresee Burning Godzilla in the making....:darklord:Hmmm... Now THAT does present additional possibilities.... Not only are aliens giving the world grief, Goji goes NUCLEAR. Does THE DAY AFTER TV movie come to mind for a sequel setting?K-T?:confused:The mass extinction event at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary 65 MYA (million years ago). The terms are some of those short-hand things you'll find in paleontology and geology references. Saves a lot of typing! :p
As for why "K" rather than "C" (compliments of Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page)):
"K is the traditional abbreviation for the Cretaceous period. Cretaceous comes from the Latin for chalk, creta. The K comes from the German word for chalk kreide, or possible Greek kreta. The K is used so as to avoid confusion with the Carboniferous (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carboniferous) period which uses the letter C."

Mothras, Bio and Toho are also notorious for space/fairy/glitter dust! ;)
Indeed they are. It would lead to a sequal if Mothra went into space. Also, if we devastate all life on Earth, how will it ever be able to return, or re-grow? Well, I guess we might as well worry about that later since that will be the sequel.

It wouldn't; earth would simply be out of the picutre. We're have to find other planets to play with in the sequel:)

Oh okay, but wouldn't 'Queen Mothra' still be the 'Spirit of the Earth'?

Err... I guess so. She'll just be without earth is all.
Hey, I just had really good idea for Mothra after this story!:)

After the "big bang" of destroying the Earth, what should become of the planet's various denizens? I'm thinking some races (including aliens) might be utterly destroyed but there always seems to be a few that manage to escape. The Mysterians particularly come to mind. I did a Paint graphic of the races' emigrations about the solar system, kind of as a way to keep track of everyone: http://www.roostville.kaijuphile.com/map.gif
It's just a tossed together thing with some space grabs but you get the idea. A more sophisticated version might include WHEN the migrations were made, maybe by footnotes based on the Timeline (when it gets sorted out).

holy crap. great job Raptor! you've really been out doing yourself as of late!:) I too think that a semi-more sophisticated graph is in order for the actual story, but this here is pretty cool!

The thing about a graph is you only have two "directions" you can go in - up and down and across.
Are you thinking of maybe:
WHEN - WHO - WHERE
10 BYA: The Iron Empire -
250-248 MYA: Millennians - Earth
(http://Millennians%20-%3C/b%3E%20Earth%3Cbr%20/%3E%0A--------------%3Cb%3E%5Burl=%22%22%5D%3C/b%3E) ------------- Millennians/Mysterians - Mars - Mysteroid (65 MYA)
100 MYA: Nebulans/Cosmos - Mu
etc.
I had thought about using the old stand-by html "tables" approach to it and still might try that as cells can be split. Still, there's that X-Y 90 degree "limitation" to the thing...
Of course, everyone is free to grab a copy of the "map" and work with it or come up with other presentations. We do a good job with the story, maybe Sauron will help out with his awesome graphics skills once we come up with at least a rough idea of what we might want.
I don't have a "real" graphics program myself and am wondering if there is a good FREE organization chart one for download. They can be used similar to what I scratched up with diagonals and such for "off shoots" or whatever.

- The Kilaaks find the Supervolcano in Yellowstone National Park and one on an island known as La Palma off the coast of Africa... sparking a chain of events that will put a... damper on the newly conquered United States (and every other human country or alien colony bordering the Atlantic for that matter, heheheh). I was thinking about saving this one for near the end, when the Apocolyptic scenes start to really come to a boiling point. We got to thinking that the activation of this thing taking the place of the Mt. Fuji location might ought to be considered. We've got Godzilla in the U.S. due to the rocket being shot down. Ghidorah, Mothra and Gudis can fly. I think it can work myself.

I'd buy it if they weren't so lazy in the development process as they clearly were with this game. There are just so many blaringly bad things going on here that would've been a quick fix in my opinion. But yes, graphically it is very good.
