Megaguirus: Alien, mutant or living fossil?

When I first saw it, I was sure Megs was merely something that emerged from a portal to the bast the dimension tide created but when I do a search on her, Half the things say she's from another dimension and half say she's a bug that got caught in the portal and mutated.

So I ask those who have seen it more than once, What is she?

The Meganura are actual prehistoric Dragonflies that existed. So I'd say mutated Living Fossil.

Thats what I thought too, but ya know, after that many others claiming she's extradimensional or a mutant created by the dimension tide one starts to wonder...

She may have been just mutated by dimension tide. That could be why the adult Megaguirus looked like a dino-insect.

I always thought megs absorbed godzilla's energy and gained his traits. But yeah, The meganura could have been easily mutated by the tide. Which may be why they have eight legs?

Why didn't the Dimension Tide mutate Godzilla then?

You do have a point. Perhaps his regeneration prevented mutation? It is a very interesting topic to discuss.

Well we never saw godzilla after he was exposed to the DT maybe he DID mutate?

Well real Megagnura did not have eight legs, they were not as big as humans, they did not have stingers, they did not absorb energy and they did not create queens so maybe they were mutated...But she's not from another dimension right?

I was under the impression that after the credits Godzilla comes out of the ground, and the DT only buried him.

Theres not that much drastic differances besides claws and a more visicous, stylized look.

Now it says on Gojistomp that the Meganula were from the Cretaceous period. The Meganura predate dinosaurs, and were around when fish started walking onto land and becoming Anphibians/Reptiles.

See where Iam getting at? The Meganula could just be evolved Meganura with larvae that adapted to land (Dragonfly eggs and larva lived underwater in ponds, swamps, etc.) and swarm habits (Like the early dinosaurs did with packs).

Becuase food couldn't go around a huge swarm, they developed mosquito drainning abilites that fed them, and helped fertilize the eggs of only one female. When the Megnula tried to drain godzilla, maybe they tapped into energy instead of blood, liked the energy more then blood and continued. BUT when they tired to fertilize the female of the swarm so she could lay eggs, the energy mutated her. And you get Megaguirius!

*applauds* Yep, that could Easily justfiy it! Xept I was always told meganura were only two or three feet long.

Well, the Meganura could have evolved into a much larger form to deal with increasingly large predators/prey, such as the dinosaurs. There is a large time gap between the time before dinosaurs and the Cretaceous, plenty of time for a species to evolve.

When Megagurons appeared, I immediately thought that the Dimension Tide had actually created a time warp rather than a black hole as we think of them in relation to space. I also don't believe the government and its scientists actually understood what they were dealing with, just as they weren't all that sure about the atomic bomb until they had fired off a few. Of course, there were a few things they missed also (like after effects). Seems that even sci fi science isn't always that exact either... ;)
