That's right, I got it! Now I get to experience road jerks, long days in traffic, and admittedly high gas prices!! Yay! Aw, damn. ;)

Reaper is right (about the costs - DRIVING wise ;) ). It's also a BIG RESPONSIBILITY. When you're just starting out learning, pick up on GOOD practices. It's not all about speed and a bunch of other stuff that can get you (and others) in a bad situation.
Study your state Driver's Handbook, not just to pass the wtitten test but to familiarize yourself with the laws, signs, physics, etc. of handling a powerful, heavy piece of equipment. Yeah, that doesn't sound as "cool" as car commercials and NASCAR (prefer SCCA myself! :p ) but it's one of those "reality checks". We may think of driving as a NECESSITY in many cases but it is also a RESPONSIBILITY and PRIVILEGE.
With that out of the way, CONGRATULATIONS!

Unless you're driving a Geo... Then neither of that applies to you.
Boy, just you wait until your friends start bumming you for rides. Advanced tip, make them share for your expenses. Almost wished I chose some of their paths about not learning too drive until a later age cause life would be considerably more cheaper.

Congrants on that! I'm not old enough to drive yet, in fact my mom says she'll let me drive when I'm 30! :D Anyway, if by some act of God I pass my test, I'll probably just bike everywhere, due to ridiculously-high gas prices. Oh, well... it'll probably get better soon enough.

My car has great mileage, and I rarely go anywhere besides to and from school, so I hang in there.
