there've been a lot of who's everybody's favorite character polls in magazines andeverything, but i've never been satisfied that that fat plumber is the fav.  i've decided that i have to ask the people who are the ones who really know what they're talking about: the Roosters.  http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .  anyways what is your favorite character.  take into consideration moves, attacks, allies, but mostly your own reasons.

<font color='#FF0000'>Samus Aran. If you mean the same fat plumer I think you do, Samus could smash him like a bug. With all the weapons, she could easily take out anybody. Second would be the Master Chief, from Halo. Infact, Spartan 117 ties with Samus. He could beat her, infact. Well, that's my two cents.

<font color='#0000FF'>Favorite character...I won't decide, I can't compare Mario to Jill Valentine, or Samus to my favorite pokemon.
So many factors contribute to the character, such as the environment of there game, and number of titles.

But, I though Aryes from Phantasy Star 4... was pretty great.
Robo the robot from Chrono Trigger had a Pathos thats hard not to love, for a tin man formula.

I vote Mario.... because he is really a generic proxy to allow ourselves to enter some crazy worlds.
Mario's Character is whatever your character is....

as for for moves and who could kick so in so's ***.

who cares.

I don't have one...

Sephiroth from FF7 became an instant favourite as soon as I was introduced to him. Bowser has always been a favourite...Grahf from Xenogears became an instant favourite as well.

Those would be the top three.

Sonic's the best, and actually even better than him is Chaos zer0. &nbsp;so, those are my two favs. &nbsp;

PS, Samus is great as well.

Sephiroth will always be my favorite Video Game character, he is scary: a cool sword, silver hair...all powerful, no other villain can compare to the Mighty Sephiroth (maybe except for Kefka). Second would have to be Kefka, he is the sickest character i have ever known.

Oh yeah! and Samus Aran is awesome, better than Lara Croft thats for sure.
I wanna see Megaman battle Samus!

My favorite would probably have to be *drumroll*...

Argh! I can't decide!

OK, maybe I'll divide them up....

Favorite Villain
Mewtwo (Super Smash Bros. Melee) - A sinister character all around. That laugh he does in his taunt is simply the coolest laugh I've ever heard in recent gaming. Cool powers, cool style, and overall just plain cool and sinister.

Favorite Hero
Now I'm truly stuck...can I get back to you?

VoradorReborn
February 17th, 2004, 09:46 PM
Hmm, that's hard to say, but mine would probably be the characters from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Out of them, I'd say Laharl. I can't think of any other character who could utterly destroy two million starships before he's even out of puberty. http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bagansmilie.gif

Favorite Hero: Samus Aran, baby! Every game she's in is an instant classic. The first kick-butt female game character.

Favorite Villain: Bass, of Megaman fame. I don't know, there's just something about the 'ol finhead that I like.

Favorite video game character? Id from Xenogears. Quite possibly the coolest villian ever, IMO. Same with his gear and theme song. Also the inspiration for most of my evil characters, design-wise. Coming close in second....Latias from Pokemon R/S. She is quite possibly the most adorable Pokemon out there.

I like Yoshi because I love dinosaurs. I also like Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat, because...well....I just do really. In fact, I like the majority of MK characters because they have rich stories and backgrounds. The whole MK story is wonderful itself.
But Liu Kang and Yoshi are my favorites.
Oh! Can't forget Godzilla from G:DAMMM!!!!!!

Mr. Camouflage
February 19th, 2004, 05:38 PM
Favorite Villian: MechaGodzilla(G:DAMM)

Favorite Hero: James Bond/Mario

yrah, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, basically all the non-human characters of the Mario universe i like, but just not Mario. &nbsp;also, i like the ChuChus from the game ChuChu Rocket. &nbsp;Gamingboy knows what i'm talking about.

Second is Marth(SuperSmash).

Kurt is stupid......

Steely Dan
February 22nd, 2004, 09:34 PM
Favorite all-around character: Tie between Solid Snake(MGS) &nbsp;and Dante (Devil May Cry)

Favorite character based on looks: Punky (Punky Skunk)- I really like skunks and Punky is the only one I've ever seen with his own game (even though the game itself sucked).

I basically like any characters that are monsters or anthropomorphic creatures, and only a small handful of human ones. Humans are so boring looking.

Archaic_Avenger

yes i definately agree here. &nbsp;how could i forget my all time favorite character, even more than Sonic, Chaos! &nbsp;Chaos probably form zero or perfect from Sonic Adventure 1 and now in Sonic Battle.

<font color='#348781'>sephiroth hands down. no other charecter in the history of video games can measure up to the extreme coolness and power that he had. sephiroth nearly defined the entire final fantasy series and with that he brought a turning point for square and thier RPG's.

<font color='#FF0000'>Either Samus Aran or Link. Hmm..I love both of their many games. Can't wait for Metroid Prime 2.

Samus #1

Dante
March 2nd, 2004, 07:10 PM
<font color='#FF0000'>Kanbei (The Advance Wars Games)
He is a modern day samurai. &nbsp; Not too many characters can live up to his power and control on the battlefield.

In terms of RPG's I like......(thinks hard)......(thinks some more).....Vahn.
The main hero from Legend of Legaia. &nbsp; He is probably the basis for a lot of video game heros today. &nbsp; His Ra-Seru was just awesome. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

Dino Hunter 2.0

Archaic_Avenger

i've done a lot of web searching on Nights, and it has an incredible story. &nbsp;basically, when people dream, they actually go to a different dimension where dreams ar ereal, Nightopia. &nbsp;these two kids end up with nightmares, and are able to fully go to Nightopia. &nbsp;there are five powers, kind of like the chaos emeralds, called ideyas. &nbsp;the kids each have the rarest of all of them, the red, courage, ideay. &nbsp;the evil badguy, Wizeman has created a bunch of monsters called the Nightmarens, used to go into peoples dreams and steal the ideyas. &nbsp;they had gottn all except the red ideya, which the two kids had. &nbsp;Nights was a nightmaren, but rebelled against Wizeman and was imprisoned in an Ideya Palace. &nbsp;the kids find him, set him free, and with their red ideyas, he's able to one by one defeat the Nightmarens and finally defeat Wizeman himself, bringing good dreams back to Nightopia, and everyon's dreams. &nbsp;i know all this, and i can only play a pinball game on the Gameboy advance. &nbsp;

I've finally narrowed my favorite game characters down to one. I never did post who my favorite game hero was (from my last post), so here goes...

KYO KUSANAGI (KING OF FIGHTERS)
The avatar pretty much tells all. A badass hero with good taste in clothing, not to mention being able to throw around flames. A fun character to use in fights, as well as cool, and his new outfit (98' and up) just rocks hard.

All hail Kusanagi!

<font color='#0000FF'>Hmm, this is a tough one. Well, here goes:

The lead character (can't remember his name, unfortunetly) who transforms into a dragon from the old NES game &quot;Dragon Spirit&quot;. On a side note, &quot;Dragon Spirit&quot;, despite being an 8-bit NES game, had the best music of any video game I can think of.

Bowser Koopa
Snakeman (from Megaman 3)- just because I love snakes
Joe &amp; Mac
The women that often made out with Joe &amp; Mac after being rescued http://www.kaijuphile.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Super Godzilla
SNES Bagan

Umm, that's all I can think of for now. It's been awhile since I've gotten to play any video games http://www.kaijuphile.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

What happend to the original thread to this? anyways, here are mine.

Squall Leonheart- Like i said before, he reminds me of myself.

Ninja (Gray Fox)- I always wanted to be like the Ninja; a dead guy looking for a place to die...well i actually dont, but his character is so awesome.

Sephiroth- One of my most favorite villains of all time.

Kefka- SICK minded little clown of darkness, i could never imagine somebody being like Kefka.

Solid Snake (Dave)- Solid Snake has always been my favorite video game mercenary, he is a smart and tough guy, but i could never understand how he could keep up with the Ninja.

Predators- The video game, Alien vs. Predator for the PS2, was really fun, my lucky bunch was the Predators, these guys kick butt!

Godzilla 90's/2000- From GDAMM, ha! i dont need to tell why....

Tommy Verceti- The main man from GTA:VC reminds me alot of Scarface (Al Pacino).

DAMM monsters (except Megalon)- Need I say anything?

Link (ocarina 'o time version, adult)- He's just cool, he's in an awesome game, all he needs is some pants instead of a dress

Marth (My best char in SSBM)- he's the fastest sword guy (Except young link) in the entire game!

Mr.Game & Watch (SSBM)- He's really funny and he started a phenomanon!

Evil Pacman (My own Pacman2 game)- LOL, he eats people and he's invincible! What else do you need?

Non-Suicidal-Edgar (Epic Banana's Bogus Guru)- He's funny, plus unless you're quick, he only lives for 15 seconds

Zearatul & Kerrigan (Starcraft)- they are the strongest coolest chars in the game, Zearatul is super strong and invisible and Kerrigan is awesome looking as a human and super-powerful as a Zerg!

Shadow-(FF3/6)-An awesome mercenary ninja, plus his dog is cool too.

Protoman-(Megaman series)- come on, the coolest robot created in that universe, and the strongest to boot. Has many more advanced techniques than his blue counterpart.

Captian Falcon-(any game he's been in)-Best racer, great bounty hunter, great fighter (at least in my hands he is).

Monkey-(Timesplitters 2)-Ooh ooh ahh! Sorry, the monkey is my favorite charecter in this first person shooter. he's fast, hard to hit, and most of the time you don't see him coming.

Vega-(Street Fighter)-He's my favorite fighter, He's just easy to control and he's go some good moves.

That's all I can think of for now.

Guile (Street Fighter) - Plays simple, hits hard. The flattop fighter is just too awesome to pass up playing as, and was a welcome change from the shoto-idiots when he was introduced. His style (charging in one direction for a few seconds and then pressing the opposite direction and an attack button at the same time to release a attack) has few disadvantages. Not only can you block attacks while charging, but you can still attack with punches and kicks if your opponent gets close. Also i've noticed that he is one of the few 2D fighters to have a normal attack (just pressing the attack button, no directions involved), and be able to move with it. His Middle Kick has him doing a roundhouse kick in which both his legs come off the ground. If you hold a direction (such as toward your opponent) you can inch forward when doing this attack. Not only does it have good reach (it's a kick, it extends his figting area), but it's a good way to surprise your enemy when they try to use a sweep kick to knock you down, Guile isn't touching the ground, so they can't knock him down. If that's not enough, he was played by Van Damme in the live action movie.

"Come on, Rookie."

Nightmare- (Soul Calibur games) How can you not love this demonic knight?

Wario- He is the best "anti-(insert game hero here)" around.

Samus- (Metroid games) She was the first great female in video games, and she is a lot more awesome than that appearence-ripoffing Master Chief.

Link- Link manages to wear a skirt and tights and still remains awesome.

Master Chief: With Halo being the first game I ever played for X-Box, Master Chief is still my favorite video-game character of all time. I'm currently reading "Halo: The Fall of Reach," and it only goes to strengthen the coolness of the guy.

Albert Wesker- One of the most twisted villains ever. Never seems to die, has so many loopholes it isn't funny, superhuman abilities, and is manipulative as hell. Plus, he has such a cool look.

Mendez- The village chief from "Resident Evil 4" screams badass. Huge, imposing, and just plain nasty (especially when he grabs Leon), he is the epitome of a good villain. My only complaint is that he never really gets much attention, and dies early on in the game.

Ramone Salazar- The midget castellan, another excellent villain from RE4. His diminutive size and seeming lack of age add to his creep-factor, and he has two equally creepy bodyguards, the Verdugo.

Osmund Saddlar- The mysterious leader of Los Illuminados. Go play RE4 to see why I like him so much.

Others include:

The Ashford Family
Morpheus (RE: Dead Aim)
M. Bison
Vega

Talk here about which single video game character you believe to be the King of Games, and provide a explanation for your reasoning.

For me, my vote undoubtedly goes to Mario. He's been around for over 20 years now, and not once has his franchise even come close to dying. In his debut adventure, Donkey Kong, he not only saved Pauline, but the entire Video Game Buisness. Mario and the big ape saved the buisness of video games from the Great Video Game Crash of the 80's (originally caused bt the failure of the ET game). Mario didn't stop there, he later went on to star in the game that revolutionized adventure games for years to come with the release of Super Mario Brothers. After paving the way for sidescrollers, years later Mario defined Three-Dimensional Adventure Games as well, with Super Mario 64.

Mario has made excellent strides in almost every genre. He has been in adventure games, RPGs, Puzzle games, racing, 4 different kinds of sports (6 counting the EA Made SSX on Tour and NBA Street 3 with Mario playable), and even a typing tutorial program. The only genres Mario hasn't appeared in are the FPSes and MMORPGs, and I'm sure a Mario MMO cannot be far off with the stellar introduction and reception of Nintendo's WiFi program.
