Yeah!
Some girl should have whispered "Mothra..." like in GMK and SOS.
That'll show how important the character is to the people!

Or they should have atleast had the Shobijin sing the Mothra song a few times! Gosh! What were they thinking?

Man...I think Mothra went out like a hero. They would have taken Gigan and made him even more upgraded than he was. Mothra didn't die in vein.

I thought her death was great. As said before, it showcased her as a hero. Since she diddnt have the power of Godzilla, it was great to see her do her part in the battle and showed she would give her life for humanity. As for no human reaction, did you guys not notice they too were fighting eachother? I am in Tai Kwon Do, and I know when you are fighting you dont notice anything else, so I doubt they would have taken a break to look at the TV monitors to see that she died. Notice the Xillian Leader diddnt say anything when Gigan died either. And after seeing his reaction to when even Hedorah died, he must not have seen it.

HA HA HA! DIE MOTHRA!!! DEATH TO THE BUG!

I would have prefered another way for her to go (maybe being sliced by cool Gigan), but we have to take what we get.

If it helps, watch the credits, and you see Mothra flying back to her island, fully healed.

Was that really necessary?:sarcasm: :dozing:

I think someone should have at least noted her death, like maybe Godzilla for instance or something. But I'm glad that she went down heroically, battling a tough monster and taking him with her.

You do realize that the song is part of her character.....:hmmm:

I don't mind so much that she actually died (though it would have been nice to see her live and fly home to Infant Island). However, her death and really entire rule in the film seemed rather pointless since the first and only time mention is really made of her is when we see the Shobijin for the first time, only like 10, 15 minutes into the film--she remains unheard of in every sense of the word for over an hour and a half--and then suddenly appears out of the blue to settle a score with Gigan. Why did no one on earth seem to know she exisited? Why did no one care or mention her? Why didn't she come to fight off the monsters the first or even secnod time, or the aliens? Why did she not help in operation: final war? Why did she wait until the last minute, after earth was utterly destroyed, to fight an up-graded Gigan? How out of character can you get? Hence, when you put all those facts together, you can see why the moth's death seemed pointless, especially since nobody even paid lip service to her (but then again, why would they? They didn't seem to know she was alive throughout the film anyhow...). It's times like theses I think Toho killed the writter to save money....:sarcasm:

And I would have loved to hear Mothra's Song, but considering the score we got stuck with and the fast-paced-ness of the film, I'm glad they didn't sing.:dozing:

I fully agree. Mothra seemed to be in GFW merely because there was an all-star monster line up, and she's a classic Godzilla foe, not because she actually had to do with anything. I'm honestly surprised the Controller noticed her long enough to send Gigan after her.

I am suprised anyone noticed any kaiju in the movie with the exceptions of Godzilla and Monster X. the rest were in it for about a minute anyway.

I agree with everything you said too bad that the movie went this way I'd like to see them redo it and fix their mistakes or make another one but that seems unlikly

No, Eternal Mothra, it wasn't necessary, but it felt good to say. I'm sorry if I offended you.

It did seem out of character for Mothra to only show up after everything else was trashed. Maybe she was busy metamorphasizing. Perhaps the old Mothra recently died, and the new one wasn't ready to fight yet. However, as a certified Mothra hater, I can't truthfully say I was sorry she showed up so little

And for Heaven's sake! No Mothra Song! I think the ever annoying Twins with their song is the main reason I dislike the Moth so much!

No you didn't offend me, it annoyed me, because this thread is for discussion on Mothra's Death, not on how much someone hates her.;)

On the thing about mothra not apearing until after the world is ruined, you have to think mabey she was in a state where she could not move. You know how in some fantasy storys like an ancient guridan needs to be awkened in a certain way or they can't do anything. Just food for thought.

A good example of that would be Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. The Shobijin were probably in the process of trying to wake Mothra up.
