In conjunction with this week’s release of two DVDs of episodes from Sony Pictures Family Entertainment’s GODZILLA: THE SERIES, SciFi Japan takes a long look back at the show. There’s a newly revised and expanded report on the making of the series, a detailed look at the cast and characters, and a complete guide of all 40 episodes. To top things off, we’ve included more than 130 photos and images provided by Sony, including rarely-seen production art, publicity materials, unused concepts and designs, and artwork of every monster to appear on GODZILLA: THE SERIES.
Everything can now be found at http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/

Thanks guys! I'm glad you enjoyed the GTS coverage. To give credit where credit is due, the main article about the making of the show was researched and written by SciFi Japan's co-founder Bob Johnson. I mainly worked on the the episode guide and supplied some additional pics from my personal collection.
And Brigitte is a hottie, isn't she?

Me too, I was fan of this show way back in the day and was completely pissed when they cancelled it.

The show wasn't really "cancelled". Most shows are ordered for a season (usually from 13-26 episodes) and if ratings are good it gets renewed for another season. GODZILLA: THE SERIES was different; before production started it was presold to FOX for 2 years/40 episodes. There were never any plans to do more episodes, though that would have changed if GTS became a HUGE blockbuster hit.

Very good job with the site Kpa, I especially loved the unused monster named 'Biollante' who has a very H.P. Lovecraft feel to him and the confirmation on the unmade versions of the Bird of Prey (a real vulture over air born manta ray) and Komodothrax (a female Godzilla like iguana monster over the more straight giant komodo dragon).
I hope you guys consider doing more in-depth articles / episode guides for other giant kaiju related shows.

The "mouths for eyes" is very Lovecraftian.

There will definitely be more in-depth articles and episode guides mixed with the latest news and reviews.

Now that I think about it...its a shame the series was made in 1998 and not now...we could have had such better monster fights. Now in the days of Americanime the fight can be brutal as hell...as long as theres no blood.

Great job, kpa, that really brings back memories. I loved this show and I just ordered the two new DVDs. Now if they could only release entire seasons on DVD.
At a reasonable price of course.

Was Quetzalcoatl the kaiju a homage to Fire rodan/rodan? They both are flying reptiles, have fire type attacks, nest in volcanos, swooped down to grap humans for their food, and if you count the Marc Cerasini novels, have laid eggs or at least had young. Also, where is your name in the credits? Like what does the cartoon backround look like when your name is shown?

Quetzalcoatl was definitely inspired by Rodan because people working on this show would sometimes call this the "Rodan episode". I don't think Fire Rodan was a consideration because GODZILLA VS MECHAGODZILLA II had not been released in the US when we were working on GODZILLA: THE SERIES. I was probably one of the few people on the crew who had seen the movie and knew there was a Fire Rodan.

It's in the end credits under 'Storyboard Artists' or 'Storyboard Clean-up Artists'. I didn't work on every episode because there were 3 or 4 teams working on separate shows at the same time. I'd guess that I worked on 15 or so of the shows.
Of the episodes released on DVD so far, I worked on 112, 116, 117, 132, and 134. Some of those I worked on for weeks, others I only worked on for a few days because I was called in to help make a deadline.

Well, thats cool. Now I will need to find your name. Thanks.
I do think scale is a very cool episode. Not just the cameras, but also it has alot of kaiju action and we get to see kaiju besides godzilla fight one another. (c-rex vs. king cobra, giant bat vs. Skeetera, ect..) Though I do feel bad for giant bat, he got beat up alot there in that episode.
