From June 30-July 2, plus July 5 and 6, the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood will host “Giant Monsters On the Loose”, the third annual kaiju eiga film festival from the prestigious American Cinematheque.

The 2006 lineup includes:
US premiere of GAMERA THE BRAVE
US premiere of MIRROR MAN: REFLEX (the new film from the director of last year’s festival hit ULTRAMAN: THE NEXT)
GODZILLA 2000
MOTHRA
LA premiere of Takashi Miike’s THE GREAT YOKAI WAR
GMK
SON OF GODZILLA
LA premiere of NEGADON: THE MONSTER FROM MARS
GODZILLA VS DESTOROYAH
LA premiere of ULTRAMAN MAX episodes directed by Takashi Miike and Shusuke Kaneko
50th anniversary screening of GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS

Presentation and preview for Classic Media’s upcoming Godzilla DVD collection.

Prizes and exclusive giveaways

GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS and GODZILLA 2000 will be accompanied by discussions with guests Terry Morse Jr, Michael Schlesinger, and others who created the American versions of these movies.

actually the popcorn does suck....its nasty...(however they use real butter) but the drinks are good...they use crushed ice... mmmmmmmm.... i won't mention the nifty coffiee shop and Nice pub (the pig n whistle) next to the theater...

Alright! Not only do we get Yokai and Negadon, but some stuff I'd never thought we'd see at the festival, like the awsome looking Mirrorman Reflex, some very good Godzilla flicks, some Ultraman Max episodes and the biggest surprise and so soon too Gamera the Brave...I am one happy obscure kaiju loving yad right now...hopefully though I'll be able to attend.

Hooray! I live about 40 minutes away from these theaters, so I'll probably be able to see one or two!:)


That is, if I can convince my dad to take me....[He doesn't like Kaiju movies at all, and I don't have a drivers licence yet. :( ]

Due to a scheduling conflict (meaning "the theater was double booked") July 5 and 6 are no longer part of the Egyptian Theatre's kaiju film festival. The weekend schedule (June 30- July 2) has been slightly adjusted... the US premiere of GAMERA THE BRAVE will now take place Friday June 30 as part of a Kadokawa double feature with the LA premiere of THE GREAT YOKAI WAR. Kadokawa reps have offered to attend the screenings to talk about the two movies, plus the big remake they'll be doing next (check SciFi Japan right now for that news). In addition to the two Kadokawa films, Friday will also feature the LA premiere of NEGADON: THE MONSTER FROM MARS so it should be a great night!
