HACK/slash:Slice Hard

Even if your not a fan of the slasher subgenre of horror, you might still find this interesting. HACK/slash is a comic published by Devil's Due, and created by Tim Seeley. It tells the tale of Cassie Hack, young woman whose mother turns out to be the serial killer known as the Lunch Lady. After stopping her mother's reign of terror after coming back friom the dead, Cassie dedicates her life to hunting down, and taking out the slashers with extreme prejudice. Along with her rather monstrous friend, Vlad(think Sloth from the Goonies) they set to accomplish thier quest. Thier latest adventure,SLICE HARD, hits the comic stores this October. It picks up the cliffhanger from July's 25-cent special, in which while trying to take out the hot looking, yet deadly Acid Angel, end up captured along with her by merc employed by a medical research corporation. The company, Cenutech, wants to study these slashers to see what makes them able to keep bounceing back from what otherwise would be fatal injuries to the rest of us. Of course the six serial slashers end up getting loose ,and causeing all sorts of delightful, bloody havoc.:darklord:

Hey One and Only, can you tell me about Vlad. What's his back story, or does he even have one yet?

Well Darth, there hasn't been that much put out ther about Vlad. Although, I had read in previous interviews that it was to covered in the miniseries, HACK/slash:Land of the Lost Toys, in which Cassie and Vlad dealt with a killer that nailed people in thier dreams, and killed them in thier dreams utilizing warped versions of his victims childhood plaything. Unfortunatly I missed the second issue of that series , and if was covere there, I missed it. What I do know is that he was an orphan,and raised by someone he refered to as the Old Man. Sometime afterwards, just when Cassie was starting out on her mission to hunt slashers,she encountered him, and even tried to kill him thinking that Vlad himself was a slasher. But the two managed to get things straightened out, and Cassie asked him to join up with her. And he accepted, and they've been together ever since.

I've been a huge fan of Hack/Slash since the first one-shot, and I'm really looking forward to the Chucky crossover (though I would have preferred to have Cassie meet up with Jason, or even Ash).

I think Girls Gone Dead is probably my favorite of the bunch, though The Final Revenge of Evil Ernie was great as well (I love horror comics, I love crossovers...what was not to love, except maybe for the weird art?)

Now, if only Slice Hard would stop getting delayed...:(
