View Full Version : Countdown to Extinction: RadoGoji vs. Irys

<font color='#FF7F00'>I've had this idea in my head for a while, now. I'm thinking of wirting a fan fic (NOT a round robin) called Countdown to Extinction: RadoGoji vs. Irys. Yes, THAT Irys. It happens BEFORE all of Rado's Baldur's Gate past life realization (so we're dealing with the nervous, no-confidence Rado). Sometime after the raid of Roostville by King Ghidorah and friends, Rado decides to work on a time machine (just for the hell of it http://www.kaijuphile.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ) and accidentally borks up the space-time goings on with a test run, and somewhere, out plops an Irys egg. When the Irys baby hatches, it finds out what spwaned it, and looks up to Rado as a parental figure. However, something goes terribly wrong, and Irys starts absorbing people's energy all over Roostville (and you thought a small village was bad), and everyone we know and love from the stories is nearly wiped out... except Rado (who, like with Ayana, Irys is trying to fuse with). However, Rado, knowing what happens in the movies, decides to do whatever any great citizen would do against Irys: wait for Gamera to show up. When he doesn't, Rado decides to try and use his time machine to fix this mess, but it won't work if there are space-time anomalies in the current dimension (i.e. Irys), so Rado has no choice but to bring the RadoBot back into action and defeat Irys himself, so that he can go back in time and prevent all of this from starting.
Just think of it as my version of Gamera 3. And don't worry. I have a plan to fix all the plotholes that will spring up (and this I guarantee). What do you all think?

I LOVE IT!
I had the great pleasure of talking to Keith Sewell today (a BIG Gamera fan, as many G-FAN/G-FEST folks know) about an upcoming project but of course, things got back to Gamera.
If Roostville will be involved, there are Gamera references from Ubergeek being the Tortoise Guardian to the CB Rescue Squad having Dr. Dobie's sub (shade of YELLOW SUBMARINE for you Beatles fans!http://www.kaijuphile.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.kaijuphile.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
May I ask, will this be a "darker" tale for you or will your tremendous "feel" for the humor of Roostville also come into play?

<font color='#FF7F00'>This will be darker than most tales I have done (like RadoGoji's Quest), mainly due to the fact that nearly everyone in Roostville will be killed (as said before, this will be fixed in the end), but will contain the humor here and there that normally sets my stories apart from Lord K's. Of course, this takes place before Geekspawn becomes the tortoise guardian, and Gamera doesn't show up, mainly due to the fact that the rift that sent Irys into Roostville was only there for a few seconds. However, this could be a reference to G3, where they mentioned that the southern wall came down, but in this case, it will be because the southern guardian accidentally went to Roostville. Glad you like the idea, Raptor. I'll start it as soon as I can. It's gonna be in chapters, like most fan fics, instead of like Abdel Reborn, which was only a short story.

As this is a "Roostville" tale, I see no problem posting it here as we don't have the "completed stories only" requirement the Kaiju Story Central does.

I've gotten pretty far for one day! Posted the prologue, and the first three chapters!
Some things you should know: You may notice some "mistakes" like Mayor Morgoth or Sheriff Varan, but I put it in a place in the timeline before Gamingboy for Mayor, so Morgoth is still mayor at this point.
Here are the characters which have appeared so far:
RadoGoji
Minsc- dead
Boo- dead
Morgoth/ C.L. Werner- assumed dead
Sauron/ Brandon Waggle- assumed dead
Raptor- assumed dead
Irys
Dr. Sandworm Phish- dead
Cam Eleon-dead
Enshohma-dead
Ichiro and a bunch of kennies
Ted Faylin, Rado's neighbor- dead
Sheriff Varan- dead
Desutoroia- dead
Rodan2000
Mentioned in prologue:
Space Varan
Battrarules
Of course, I couldn't have gotten facts and dates straight without help from the Roostville site library!
Raptor, if you want to put this up on the Roostville site's timeline, the story takes place June of 2013 (not much takes place in 2013 from what I understand).
By the way, now that the story's actually up, I think we should move this thread to the discussion section.

<font color='#FF7F00'>Finally got over a bit of writer's block and posted Chapter 4. Updated the character list in the above post.
What does everyone think so far?

"Error 11237: Dimensional Anomalies Detected. Object or organism foriegn to this dimension has been located. Further procedure can and will be hazardous to the space-time continuum."
I LOVE IT! That's what happens when folks mess with time travel thingies in the Roostverse! No easy way out this time so fasten your seatbelts and HANG ON! Rado's got a great one going here!
Matter of fact, when it's complete, would you like to show it off in the Kaiju Story Showcase? You've got a unique style of storytelling all your own and definitely original ideas. I think it will be a great contrast over there myself and the first Roostville tale to go cross-forum!

*Farnsworth voice from Futurama* Good news everyone!
Expect the updates to keep coming soon. As far as it's planned out, I have about four more chapters to go, and have already started on chapter 7. I haven't really noticed until this point, but I'm on a roll with ideas for the upcoming conclusion, and the big battle. This will be over soon, but expect it to go out with a bang. :)
On a related note, this kind of story layout is basically what the Mecha City Adventures are going to be like.

Chapter 7 is up. Lots off good stuff happens, and this chapter sort of sets the stage for the battle, leaving behind the supernatural and starting with the action. Also, Rodan2000 comes into the story and helps Rado out. I think that this is the bes chapter yet, and I hope you all agree. :)

I'm losing the rhythm again. :p Chapter 8 was written down a long time ago, and Chapter 9 is currently being worked on. All I need to do is type up Chapter 8 and post it. Please be patient.

Chapter 8 has been posted. I was going to post Chapter 9, too, but I have my final test (not an exam, but meh :p ) at school tomorrow, and really didn't want to be up to late typing up the other chapter. I may put it up tomorrow, though.
Anywho, the battle has begun, so please enjoy. :)

Chapter 9, and the battle finale, is now posted. A short chapter, yes, mostly dialogue, but there wasn't much more to the fight. I only have one more chapter to go, now.

Good one! Of course, there was the requisite damage to Roostville...

Aaaaaand that's a wrap! The story is now complete and can now be distributed to wherever it needs to go. An interesting note: the "2014-B" scene will partly set up Mecha City Adventures Book 10.
So, what did you all think?

EXCELLENT TALE! Everything moves along very smoothly, makes sense and has a sound resolution to the situation you set up.
Just don't forget that you tossed your plans for building time machines! ;)

The whole "Time machine" aspect will return at some point, as that will play a part later on. Remember, Rado said he was still going to keep some plans around just in case. He probably had all the time travel technology, but just needed the two years to design the actual machine, get the parts, and construct the thing.

Countdown to Extinction: RadoGoji vs. Irys! (http://roostville.kaijuphile.com/Countdown.html) is on the website.
Regarding the plans: We've got "He walked back into the rift and Rado threw his plans away." Does that need an edit in some way?
And yes, the "B" timeline has officially been established. I'm thinking this might be a great way to incorporate RV vs RF when it's done, being an "alternate universe" type thing.
Again, great going with this story!

I already have plans for timeline B, (which will later be known as Timeline 2, out of the main one, the "B" timeline, and 5 other minor timelines), and "Rado 2" will return in Mecha City Adventures Book 10. Now that I've seen the "B" timeline on the website, When the Dust Settled could fit at the end, but I don't think that RF vs RV would fit, seeing as how many of the characters were killed by Irys.
If you need more info on how the timeline chugs on (I already have the backstory for up to 2017), I'd gladly tell you about it.

Good point about RVvsRF in the "B" track. I'm just using a basic "table" layout at this point for the "tracks".
If you would send me your "plotting", I'll see if I can come up with a way of "visualizing" it for the Library's purposes.
You mentioned "When the Dust Settled" fitting at "the end" of it. I guess we'll have to define exactly where/when that may be, eh? ;)
