What battles between monsters and the army are your favorites?

Godzilla in the field of electrical towers from Mothra vs Godzilla was pretty cool. One of my favorites.

Also, Godzilla coming ashore and attackin the UN outpost in KK vs G kicked much ***.

And although its not a Toho movie, to hell with it, the army vs the giant ants in the LA sewers at the end of THEM!

Yeah, I loved the mayhem in GvsMZ!

- Godzilla demolishing the U.N. base in KKvsG (one of the few good scenes in that movie, IMO)

- Godzilla in the electircal field towers in Mothra vs. Godzilla

- Gaira being attacked by the masers in War of the Gargantuas

- Godzilla, Rodan, and Manda against the military in the heart of Tokyo in DAM

- Gigan and Ghidorah's battles against the military in Godzilla vs. Gigan (even if most of the scenes of military hardware were stock footage)

- Godzilla against the military in the artificial lighting field in Godzilla vs. Biollante

- Godzilla against the masers in Sapporo from Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah

All of the military attack scenes fom Mothra vs Godzilla, I thought the Frontier missile sequence was especially cool considering it was an American made scene.

Boy...let's see if I can remember some of these scenes as there are so many of them....

-Godzilla against the towers in Gojira

-The army attacking Godzilla while he's in Tokyo in Gojira

-(nomination)The military attacking Godzilla and Anguirus in Godzilla Raids Again. Would have been a better scene if the military would have actually hit either kaiju.

-The airplane bombardment against Godzilla, in Godzilla Raids Again, to imprison him in ice. Very nice to see Godzilla get defeated by conventional means for once.

-Godzilla Vs. the U.N. base (King Kong Vs. Godzilla)

-The Rodan couple's attack (Rodan)

-Godzilla Vs. the electrical towers and military boats (Mothra Vs. Godzilla)

Ah hell...just put me down for all of them.

Godzilla battling the military and the SuperX (Godzilla 85)... come on... the deveastation looked totally wicked. Especially Big G's takedown of the SuperX.

The airstrike against Godzilla (Godzilla raids again). It was a very cool attack. Including having those Military Drop Ships place explosive drums to hold him there while the cliffs collasped on him.

All of the Rodan scenes were good from the onset until the battle at the end. I especially liked how they outclassed the planes in the flight sequences. (Rodan)

Someone mentioned the battle scenes in War of the Gargantuas... yeah... that was pretty cool stuff there. Gaira was just plain nasty in that film.

...I know these aren't Kaiju...
but the military battling the:

1- The Giant Behemoth (Especially cool with the desolving radiant thing he did... come on when was a brontosaurs ever so scarey?)

2- Beast from 2000 fantoms

3- Any of the Giant Insect movie monsters were pretty damn good. Them (especially) and Giant Praying Mantis comes to mind.

I know there are more that I am not outright thinking of... but those are the ones that come to mind for me without thinking a whole lot about it.

Well, on the stop-motion front, King Kong vs. the biplanes always strikes a chord with me.

And now-

Manda's slalom through the assault of the army.

Gigan and Ghidorah thrashing the JSDF.... even if Gigan DOES get punked by the masers.

Gaira vs. the masers.


And Mothra versus EVERYTHING in 1961.


Honorable mention to the two Rodans in Sasebo.

Having recently done my own Godizlla/Showa marathon (with a few other ones thrown in)... I have come to a conclusion of my favorite monster/Kaiju vs Military.

Over all... I think my favorite battle with the Military is with Rodan the Flying Monster. Not only probably one of the most solid Kaiju movies ever made. Just the sheer volume of artilliery flung at the Rodans is amazing.

I think the overall battles between the military and the Beast from 2000 fanthoms is a good one.

Of course... G54 has some amazing things going on. Pretty much throughout the entire film (and MOST certainly the B&W of the movie really sets a mood for the time).

I like the Anguirus scene from GvGigan. Just because they drive Anguirus back. Which irregardless of how you feel of Anguirus' treatment in all of the movies... He was incredibly tough in Godzilla Raids again. SO it does say something about the JDF in the scene between them and Anguirus (Well that and Angurius obviously didn't want to fight them...). Still a good scene.

I haven't seen either of these in a LONG time. But I distinctly remember that both the War of the Gargantuas and Godzilla vs the Thing (Mothra) had some damn fine scenes in them.

Monster Zero was good as well. Once it got going.
