When I read the title of this thread, my first reaction was as follows.

"Omg, OMg, OMG, OMG, I live there!!"

Of course the topic itself doesn't bring much more thought to me than that.

Born in North Carolina, raised in Montana.

Despite the fact we tend to send Left-wing politicians to Capitol Hill, that's only so we don't have to deal with them here.

And we'll never have a school massacre lasting more than 5 minutes.

God bless lax gun control laws...

Hmm...

I'll give TN some awesome scenery... (Woot, Smokey Mountains!)

But KY still kicks much behind, mostly the metro areas (Bowling Green, Louisville, Campbellsville, Elizabethtown...Hodgenville...oh god, and Bardstown.)

We also have some scenic areas to visit as well, like the Abraham Lincoln Boyhood Home.

Don't forget about our awesome collegiate sports teams: University of Kentucky Wildcats, University of Louisville Cardinals, and the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers (We're 1A in a year or two, they're building on to the football stadium as we speak!).

Speaking of Colleges, we have some of the greatest schools to attend for higher education. I know Gor will have to talk about UK, but as for Western, I can boast that we are in the top three schools WORLDWIDE for anything related to journalism.

One of my classmates (an upperclassman) is going on an internship this summer to California to work at a magazine. The editor there told him that the other two people considered for the job were also from WKU. He said that the Editor just preferred WKU students, because he knew they would know there stuff. Cool.

And finally, KY is bordered on three sides by rivers.

Booya.

Damn straight! And guess where I was born! Radioactive East Tennessee! Yes, I agree, Tennessee is responsible for Japanese apocolyptic anime. Without Tennessee, it would be all Hamtaro!

Man, probably none of yuns would have known about Tennessee being responsible for Little Boy if the radioactive mutant from Oak Ridge hadn't had told yahs. Score one for me.

Feh. You're all southern weaklings

*Gets out shotgun* What did you say?!

Smokies kick ***! I love them. I go up there every winter when it snows and take pictures.

Kentucky....been there a few times, once I was a kid and I went up there and called every single one of yuns Yankies. LOL!

Actually, one thing Kentucky and Tennessee share....Cumberland Gap. Pretty place. Very pretty place.

And thus, the Civil War began on KP.

You know though, Knoxville was actually on the side of the Union. And Oak Ridge was founded by New Yorkers after kicking a bunch of farmers out...so, *dones blue* Yeehah....

One of the reasons why Oak Ridge is so much better...though, yeah, everywhere else, there's a bunch of hicks. Oak Ridgers don't fit into that bunch. Per square mile, we have more PhDs than New York, Los Angeles. So, never lump an Oak Ridger in with the hill billies, Northerners.

-Birthed Abraham Lincoln (according to you, proof KY is south) usually taken as the greatest president ever by the US and the world. So, if you want to use "deductive reasoning", like "we had a bomb, so we are responsible for anime, Godzilla, etc", without Abe Lincoln, when the South lost, there would have been no "reconstruction", only complete destruction. So I'd wager that you might not even be alive, or that there would be a bomb for you to invent. (Oh, and if the South had won, pretty much every white person in the South would just have been poor sharecroppers, since the plantations were a very small percentage. So, your existence, the fact the South is still around, goes to KY and Abe Lincoln.
-George Clooney
-Ashley Judd
-KY bourbon
-Ky Derby/Churchill Downs
-(Sadly) UK Basketball (It's an institution)
-Mammoth Cave (one of, if not the, longest cave system in the world)
-two largest man made lakes east of the Mississippi River
-the highest per capita number of deer, turkey, and elk in the US (because hunting is fun)
-the most productive coalfield in the US
-Jim Bowie (and thus the Bowie knife)
-John Carpenter was raised here (as was Jeri Ryan)
-D.W. Griffith
-Jefferson Davis (your Confederate President)
-birthed the inventor of the traffic light and gas mask
-John T. Thompson: inventor of the Tommy Gun
-Duncan Hines (yes, THAT Duncan Hines)
- Col. Harland Sanders (and thus KFC)
-"Papa" John Schnatter (and Papa Johns)

Well alright then, perhaps you actually have something to be proud of. Don't question my assessment of everyone else's worthlessness, however.

Geeze, a sarcastic comment's just a sarcastic comment, there's no need to get defensive.
Besides, there's a distinct difference between being proud of your family and toting yourself around like a god because of something that happened before you were even born. So far, I've seen a LOT more of the latter than I have the former.

Hey, I'm actually joking with everyone. It's not my fault that the others are taking my town and putting up on a totem pole because a bunch of New Yorkers came down and decided to build the world's first nuclear weapons facility. Thanks to them, all the other Southerners think I'm a freak because I don't have a Southern accent!

Though, they didn't do a very good job at keeping it clean. We still have signs that state: "Don't swim, don't wade, don't fish, don't drink the water."

Here's something else I can be proud that no Southerner could claim. My town was the first to abolish segregation in the school for the South.
