Tonight was my final concert in Band for high school....my final senior concert. Both the Jazz and Concert Bands played (I'm in both), and it was so F-ing amazing! Soooo many people showed up that it literally surprised me....the entire place was packed!

Well anyways, I got 3 awards/scholarships just at the concert, something that I DEFINATELY did not expect....I nearly crapped myself...seriously.

Well anyways, the Jazz concert rocked. I got to play this awesome hard rock solo on the tenor sax, and everybody loved it.....I was so proud of myself (and normally I'm always finding some way to be critical about my playing) however I found it to be SUPERB!

Well after the jazz concert another sax player and I received a chance to play our solos that we preformed at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival. 10 sax players from Michigan were chosen, and her and I were two of them. I got to play it while being accompanied by the piano and it was sooooooo nice! I have never played so expressively in my entire life...it was one of those outta body experiences ((I'm sure Cyndi can relate, since she's a musician)). It will be something I never forget.

And at the end after the concert band played, I nearly cried when I played my last song, as well did the rest of the seniors. Another thing is that our director bought each senior this beautiful orange/amber rose, and he came by and told each of us how much we meant to him......Wow....words can not explain this guys...seriously.

I know how some people think band is for nerds/geeks in high school, but with out band...I would not be what I am today. I would have never become a musician, and I would not have very many friends....all I can say is that band has been the most amazing experience of my life, and I shall never ever forget it.

(Sorry for the long topic lol...I just thought I'd explain everything, and how I feel)

Oh Donny I'm so glad you had such a great time! And yes it IS a total out of body experience where reality kind of disappears...it's amazing! I was really emotional after my concert too. *glomps* If you get recordings of the concert, post your solos! ^_^!

Glad to hear you had a really good time at your last High School concert. My last orchestra concert in High School wasn't very memorable, but that summer we went to China and played 5 concerts, one on the Great Wall and the last one to a sold out crowd, and those were very memorable, and extraordinarily amazing experiences, so, I kind of know how you felt as well.
Though sounds like you are a lot better at what you do and got to do a lot more than I ever did, scholarships and solos at your final concert, that is just awesome. Good for you. :)

Band kids!

I know how some people think band is for nerds/geeks in high school, but with out band...I would not be what I am today. I would have never become a musician, and I would not have very many friends....all I can say is that band has been the most amazing experience of my life, and I shall never ever forget it.

I mean this in a friendly Donny, but band is for nerds. So much in fact, they have their own designation. "Band Nerd".

And Band Kids and Band Nerds or so much fun to compare and analyze.

You going to stay in band during college?

I plan on staying in it during college, yes. ;)

No, I was a Band Kid. Never a Band Nerd (which is the more scientific b/w that and Band Geek).

Band Kid =/= Band Nerd/Geek

As I said earlier at KG, Congrats EM! On all the awards you got. This lil' band nerd is an under achiever. It's in my dictionary I made up in my mind.

Under achiever: KiryuGigan (n. orginated from Texas)

Lol Anyway, it sounds like an awesome concert! Ours are pretty packed, but our seniors never get emotional. I probably will in three years XD

Now it's time to face the real world! WHOO! You get to cut in lines cause you were in band. You get free money cause you're in band. Also, people respect you cause you're in band. Lol all true...take it from a freshman XD I'm gonna miss band, and us cutting in the cheerleaders' cheering all the time with our stand tunes :D Muahahaha....
