A recent PM discussion about Legion and it's role in the New Era got me thinking. We know that the Legion are creatures who are every bit as destructive to the planets they arrive on as King Ghidorah is. So, I was wondering, what sort of history do these creatures have in the NE universe? We know that Ghidorah is quite a notorious monster throughout the universe, and he's only one creature. The Legion are an entire species of planet ravaging monsters. How many worlds have they devastated? How many civilizations could they have destroyed? Could they have a universal notoriety that rivals, or even suprasses Ghidorah himself?

Here's an idea: maybe Legion are a bio-engineered lifeform created to depopulate worlds in King Ghidorah's path in a futile attempt to starve the Ravager of Worlds (Galactus being reduced to a ****ing cloud means I can lift that title off him). Rather nasty concept, I think and Legion's arrival on Earth would coincide very nicely with the timing of King Ghidorah's return in Mothra 3.

I like it. Here's an idea. Since Legion is silicon based, could that make it harder for Ghidorah to feed on them? If so it could be another part of their design, since if Legion is fed on before their done with the planet, Ghidorah still benifits.
Did I ever post my idea for the Kaiser Ghidorah redo in the Redo thread?

It's an interesting idea, but there are a lot of bio-engineered monsters in the New Era already. We may be running the risk of doing it to death. So, I think it would be better to go in another direction for Legion.
How about if Legion is simply a species of silicon-based lifeforms that have adapted to life in outer space? And, after countless generations of being exposed to radiation, and God knows what else that can be found in the void, they mutated into the form we saw in GAMERA 2.
(Galactus being reduced to a ****ing cloud means I can lift that title off him).
If you think that's bad, you should see what they did to him in the mini-series ULTIMATE EXTINCTION. It may not be worse but it's no better.

I agree with the idea of the Legion having some universal notoriety, but I don't think it should surpass King Ghidorah's rep. He's The King of Terror after all. People should fear him the most.

Except that Legion, being an entire species, is likely to have caused destruction on a far wider scale than Ghidorah, being a lone monster, could have ever done. That's why I've wondered about Legion's history in the universe compared to Ghidorah.
Another possibility is, regardless of what Legion's origins actually are, that the Legion species have only appeared on the scene in a relatively recent point in time. So, while they are far more destructive than Ghidorah himself, they haven't quite built as tremendous a reputation as he has.

It's also possible that people fear King Ghidorah more because of the malice that he shows when destroying a world. For all of the destruction they cause, the Legion are just animals doing what they have to do to survive. King Ghidorah is fully conscious of the consequences of his actions and revels in the death and destrcution that he causes (that seems to be how Clint sees him anyway). People might fear King Ghidorah more than the Legion for the same reason that we might fear a serial killer more than a lion. The lion kills out of neccessity for food, a serial killer kills with for the sake of doing harm and can be more cruel than the lion.

Except that Legion's greater numbers make it a far greater threat than Ghidorah. I think you're greatly underestimating that signifigance. You used the serial killer analogy, I'll use this analogy- which would terrify you more, the possibility of a single serial killer in your neighborhood, or the possibility of a destructive army invading your city?
And, it would be highly naive to use the mere intentions of the creatures as rational for how the rest of the universe would percieve them. Trust me, any world that is getting ravaged by these monsters or any civilized culture who fears the possibility of them arriving at their world is not going to give a damn what the intentions of that/those creatures for destroying the world was.
Basically, when I wondered about how the reputations of these monsters compared, I wasn't wondering which the races of the universe believed to be more evil. I was wondering which they feared more.
