Isla Sorna Expedition

There are a few RPs floating around various sites i've been keeping an eye on, but none sound as fun as a Jurassic Park RP. Under my own guidance, i'm hoping I can steer this thing in the right direction and get enough people to join in.

The style of posting is limited to what your own character does, and what happens in the environment around them. No writing for other people's characters, and try not to kill off a dinosaur or thwart the problem TOO easily. Any player can present a situation such as a dinosaur appearing or finding a story-important object, but give the others some time to react to it. I'll be steering the story lightly unless somebody else wants to veer it in another direction. If one person takes too long to respond to a situation and it has to go along, it will be assumed they safely escaped/followed along.



The Setting:

This takes place in the movie universe, and would take place after the events of Jurassic Park III.

John Hammond is caught up to speed regarding the second incident at Site B. Set aside the unnecessary deaths that resulted, his largest concern was the presence of a Spinosaurus, an animal he had never commissioned. Unsure if it was under order by Peter Ludlow while he was in control of InGen, or something else was afoot, Hammond needs to know who has been tampering with his facility and animals, and why.

Having put Grant, Malcolm and the others through enough terror, he assembles a new and willing investigation team to scour the labs on Isla Sorna and find any information they can on what else has been created without his knowledge, as well as documentation.

Dilophosaurus (http://www.gavinrymill.com/dinosaurs/veloci/diloph.GIF) - Carnivore. Spits venom that can cause blindness and paralysis. Height likeness linked. The one in JP was obviously a young'n. 6 years is a good amount of time to grow up. ;)

Spinosaurus (http://www.gavinrymill.com/dinosaurs/spino/GavSpinosaurus.GIF) - Carnivore. A main concern of Hammond's, as it was not on the animal list. Any documentation on this animal is critical. Height likeness linked.

Suchomimus (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/suchomimus/Suchomimus.jpg) - Carnivore. Adults said to be up to 40 feet long, 12 feet high. Supposed fish eater, but so was the Spinosaurus, and we saw how that turned out!

The Characters:

This story will call for people who can use weaponry, hack computers (possibly an InGen or Biosyn employee), dinosaur experts, survival guides, and other skills that may be useful in such a situation. Any mix of these is fine, aslong as you don't have some super-godly character that can do all at once.

Minimum amount of sign-ups to start would be 4, hoping for 6-7.

Character Profile

Name: Steven Mccullough

Age: 32

Apperance: 5'7. Not fit but not overweight. Completely bald but usually wears a baseball cap to hide it.

Skills: (A single) Award winning documentary filmmaker. Can keep track of where he is in the wilderness with GPS device and map.

Equipment: High performance camera with backup film and various storage methods including HD. GPS device, satellite phone. Map of Isla Sorna. 9mm for self defense.

Background: When Steven heard of a chance to legally go onto Isla Sorna, not to mention with a well armed team, he wasted absolutely no time signing up. He quietly dreams about the documentary he's about to film, and become world famous for.

[Cole Deschain]

Name: Vladimir Sheremtev

Age: 30

Appearance: 6'2" and MASSIVE. Simply put, he looks like the scariest giant Russian you can imagine, with a shaggy black beard that matches his unkempt hair. His dark blue eyes have an absolutely insane glint in them, and he's prone to a nervous tic under his right eye when things get especially noisy. He has several scars, and dresses in BDUs that barely manage to fit his massive frame.

Skills: A trained soldier and veteran of countless semi-legal and illegal scuffles after his discharge, Vladimir is an extremely dangerous human being. Well-versed in survival skills and mayhem, he's not too good at much else. Little things like basic literacy are, in fact, a chore for Mister Sheremtev, and he only speaks English because he worked for a mob boss in England for a while.

Equipment: KBP A-91 Compact Assault Rifle (with plenty of ammo stuffed into various pockets, including six grenades for the integral grenade launcher)

Background: Vladimir is mercenary muscle, pure and simple. Given the death rate associated with previous trips to either site, a few meat shields were deemed prudent. And the Russian mafia wasn't really using him anyway.

Name: Hideo Takahashi

Age: 28

Appearance: 5'6''. A thin man of Japanese descent. He has a very unkempt appearance, giving the impression that he doesn't give much attention to how he looks. He wears glasses, though is not completely helpless should he lose them. At the bottom of his chin is some slight facial hair.

Skills: Hideo is a Research Scientist, deeply interested in the study of Dinosaurs, among other things. Though can become quite engrossed in the things he studies, which would explain aforementioned unkempt appearance.

Equipment: Backpack full of notes, pictures, journals, books, and other assorted things that he might need.

Background: Research Scientist who jumped at the opportunity of visiting Isla Sorna. He hopes to write a book one day about his studies in the field of paleontology as well as paleobotany.

Same rules more or less apply, but it's basically "react with your character, and present a new situation if needed."

What, no apatosaurs? I know they weren't in the movies (neither were the carnotauruses), but they were quite common on Isla Sorna in the novels.

I'm considering it, but I'm not good at creating modern characters. I don't know enough about weaponry (I'm not a gun owner) and scientific equipment. I'm better at creating fantasy characters:/

Name: Felix "Ash" Garcia

Age: 26

Appearance: 5'8. Clean cut, suave, and polite. Wears khaki pants and a matching khaki combat vest with a black shirt underneath. His bangs have grown long enough so that they conceal his entire eyeline, though it doesn't seem to affect his sight. He has a slight Mexican accent.

Skills: A experianced hunter, though his clean apperance would seem to conceal this. A master in the firearm and knife arts, he knows how to take down a large animal (or human) fast. Also well adapted to becoming one with his enviroment; setting traps, finding the perfect place to hide, how to follow tracks.

Equipment: 1 sniper, 3 handguns,and 1 machine gun with plenty of amo. (All disassembled for space) 2 gernades, 1 binacular, 1 compass, 1 swiss army knife, and 1 Bowie knife.

Background: Growing up in Mexico city, Felix was the son of a wealthy city official. Tiring of the monotony of life, he moved to Africa and after a few years gained fame as an expert hunter. Still unhappy with his skills, he toured India, then China, looking for some challenges and homing in on his skills. Returning to the Americas, he was quickly hired for the expedition. He now enters Isla Sorna not only to protect the investigation team and help navigate the terrain, which what he was hired for, but for the challenge of it all.
