Registration for our very first duelfest tournament starts now. The duelfest tournament is our official "tourney***" tournament. It is a one-on-one, two stock, no items, final destination battle. Registration may exceed 8 players.

Since we have 9 members, and I want this to be as efficient as possible, I will be removing myself from the roster to make it an even 8.

Registration is closed and the tournament will begin sometime on Monday.

Is this tournament to be held on one day only? Or is there leeway room?


I might not be able to play Monday- Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday I'm definitely sure I can be on.


Also, has the tourney ladder been arranged yet? Will it be random or skill level based?

We don't really HAVE an established skill level curve amongst us. The rankings thus far are pretty much due to some people having extremely limited time/online access.

s'part of why I took myself out. Part of the reason my rank is so high is because 've played so much with everyone else in comparison, so I don't really need to raise the number any higher.

Just like last time, the tournament is done on the members' own time. You are best advised to speak to your matchee via PM or IM and arrange when you can do your match.

Note

Since this tournament is stock, not all matches will be finished within 3 minutes. However, if your match does finish in the alloted time and the option to save a replay occurs, DO IT, and send the replay to me.

Remember that these replays are important for when we manage to finally record our matches to a video upload like Youtube.

Do not add these matches to your battle logs. They will be tallied to your leaderboard as tournament points.

GMK, I can basically set aside ten minutes any time tonight, but I'll be in and out due to homework.

Rodanguirus, if worst comes to worst, the only possible way I can play you this week is if we arrange our fight on Friday. I need not delve into the circumstances surrounding my current situation, but please, accept my humblest apologies for my tight, unwieldy schedule.


However, the situation gets even more complicated, as the only way I can play through on Friday, is through my friend's Wii. I'll give his Brawl friend code to you privately, to avoid any confusion. Remember, I, GMK12, will be the one facing you, albeit through someone else's Wii and equipped with a different online tag. This is only for this one tourney however, and will most likely won't be utilized again. Please reply to this post through a reply, PM or IM, to let me know you recieved it, or to work something out further.

Sootball appears to be Pyras's friend. He/she shares the same Wii with Pyras, so if you added him, you should automatically be able to play with Sootball.

I'm officially sick of the Starfox characters' blasters.

I apologize for that. It's a carry over from spamming Pikachu's normal B in the original smash, and I can't seem to stand still without constantly blasting. It's a rather cheap strategy.

But man, Ike's sword is long. You were juggling me with that thing.

I can tolerate blaster spamming to some degree, but considering that I play on a lot of the more even levels like Final Destination, Eldin Bridge, even Luigi's Mansion, I've seen it be spammed to the point where you stand no chance against it. Without elevation variation, the other player is ****ed unless he's playing with Snake (who can crouch and move under it). You either get blasted to hell or you have to tediously hop over each one individually, leaving you wide open once you get close enough. With Falco and Wolf it's the worst because they stun you upon impact.

Good match, I was just hoping it would've been more like our last one.

Me too, it was no different from any of the offline matches I've had today.

Your orb was green, though, so your connection was obviously fine. Have you had a lot of lag recently?

Well, I have noticed that the connection I have here is much better than at home, but whether it was because of my connection or the other person's there's always been some amount of lag in the online matches I've played. So this was a first for me.

Your orb is blue, so you must have a really good connection.

Yeah, I don't know where the myth of Final Destination being the fair stage came into being...characters with straight-flying projectiles have a huge advantage.

If GMK doesn't get back to me soon, I'm gonna have to forfeit. I can only play tonight and tomorrow. I mentioned in an earlier thread that exams are coming and I need to leave the Wii at home for a couple weeks (and I have a sister dying to play Guitar Hero).

Bit a little early to ask this... but who do you guys think will win this tourney :D?

I've never got to see you or Sootball play, so this could be a hasty judgment, but Seer. He can utterly control the battlefield on a flat stage like FD, and I'd bet a fair amount of coin on him if Spectator mode had any sort of control.

Seer will only control the battlefield if you let him.

Wolf has 2 main advantages; his blaster and his foward-smash. But once you've learned how to bypass both then the playing field is even steven again.

Sootball and AzalaTerran have the advantage of being the only players here that can easily avoid the blaster, so I do not believe the outcome is so black and white.

Plus, Seer's next opponent is GMK12, and Fox is a much faster version of Wolf.

The victor is still up in the air in my opinion.

I've never seen Seer play with Wolf, I was referring to his Lucario.

What a commotion I've caused... No Pyras, I am not changing my main, I was always better with Fox and I still am. However, I am indeed planning to use Ike as my main choice for this tourney. Other than that, my only order of business here is to apologize for my sporadic absences as of late and to tell Seer that Friday of next week (April 25th) will be my availability date for our match...


Anyways, on the subject of the potential winner, I can see only Seer or Sootball taking it. Though never seeing Sootball play in full depth, from what Pyras tells me, he/she is a strong player that is a force to be reckoned with. Seer, from my experience is a damn good brawler with Wolf and will be a tough matchee to overcome (He's beaten me everytime I played as fox [my main] and I've only bested him because of me using Ike and using my occasional battlefield strategies). Obviously, battlefield strategies won't be of much use on FD, so I'll have to work overtime just to get my stock count even with that guy hehe...

Sootball is indeed a strong player. in 7 matches of an FFA with Dippicus, Mirren and myself, she bagged two 1st places and only got 4th once.
