Name: Pokemon Rival(w/ Weavile, Scizor, & Blaziken)
Franchise: Pokemon
Attack Power:
Weavile - Medium
Scizor - Mid-light
Blaziken - Strong
Weight Class:
Weavile - Light
Scizor - Heavy
Blaziken - Medium
Speed:
Weavile - Fast
Scizor - Medium
Blaziken - Mid-slow
Special Traits: Stamina - Like Pokemon Trainer, each of Rival's Pokemon have a time-based stamina count, and when it passes 2 minutes, the Pokemon's attack and defense are reduced, as well as visible changes in the Pokemon's behavior.
Jumps:
Weavile - 1
Scizor - 3
Blaziken - 1
Glide: Yes (Scizor only)
Pitch: Like Pokemon Trainer, Pokemon Rival plays best from learning and balancing the strengths and weaknesses of all three Pokemon. While Trainer's Pokemon revolved around the three starter-types you could choose when you begin your adventure, the seasoned Rival uses three non-related Pokemon that solely share an air of skill in their combat. Weavile is the team's speedster, dependant on hit-and-run tactics and overwhelming the foe, while Blaziken is physically the strongest of the three, able to knock opponents out at low percentages similar to Trainer's Charizard. The metallic Scizor lacks alot of firepower but makes up for it with an uncommon blend of speed and defense as well as a powerful recovery ability, making him a great defensive character and the ideal candidate for when the percentages reach past 100%
Attack-button moves:
Weavile - Like Meta-Knight, Weavile would focus on extremely fast, multi-hit attacks. His neutral attack would be an infinite combo. His attacks would be based almost entirely around his arms and claws, with a tilt and/or aerial involving kicks.
Scizor - Scizor's attacks would be a combination of punches, slashes and chops revolving around his pincers, but he would use his feet as well as body-spinning as well. While Weavile and Blaziken's fighting styles are more grounded, Scizor's moves will be the most acrobatic(his dash, like Meta-Knight and Charizard's, has him skimming the surface of the ground with his wings as well). While quick, Scizor's moves have the lowest killing of the three characters, save a few aerial attacks like forward and back-aerials, which use his chopping pincers.
Blaziken - In terms of the appearance, Blaziken's fighting style is the most balanced, with a good balance of kicks and punches, Blaziken also uses his elbows and knees effectively. Like Lucario, his fighting style is based off real martial arts, and while Lucario's moves are more similar to Chinese martial arts, Blaziken's attacks take on Korean and Thai influences, with no-nonsense strikes, some of which can look brutal. His melee skills and potential with his attacks can be somewhat likened to Snake's, as well.
Up-Smash:
Weavile - Weavile slashes upwards three times, hopping in place with the 2nd and 3rd slash. This attack lasts a little longer than others, like Link's up-smash, and thus makes it easy to hit with.
Scizor - Scizor does a backflip, extending pincirs and feet. Has a wide range around him, though it does less damage at the edges.
Blaziken - A high kick, somewhat similar to Ganondorf's.
Side-Smash:
Weavile - Weavile slashes twice forward with his claws. The second strike is stronger than the first.
Scizor - Scizor rears his arms back then thrusts them forward with a simultaneous chop.
Blaziken - Performs a strong side-stance punch with a burst of flame generated from his fist.
Down-Smash:
Weavile - Slashes low to the ground in front and then behind.
Scizor - Brings both arms in then extends them out at opposite sides low to the ground with a simultaneous chop. Similar to Lucario's down-smash.
Blaziken - Stomps the ground with one foot in a firm martial arts stance with hands together, which causes a shockwave of fire to burst from the ground around him. Does fire damage, and physical damage if close enough.
Grab Attack:
Weavile - "Shanks" the opponent with his free claw.
Scizor - Squeezes with his pincers wrapped over the opponent.
Blaziken - Knees the opponent in the gut.
Up-Grab:
Weavile - Plants the opponent on his feet as he rests his shoulders on the ground and kicks them up into the air.
Scizor - Swings one arm behind him and uppercuts the opponent across the chin into the air with a closed pincir.
Blaziken - Grips the opponent by the arms and swings them around then up into the air.
Forward-Grab:
Weavile - Jumps onto the front of the opponent and kicks off, sending them flying back.
Scizor - Swing one arm behind him and hooks the opponent, knocking them back.
Blaziken - Brings both arms back and thrusts his palms into the opponent, a burst of fire knocking them back.
Back-Grab:
Weavile - Jukes past the opponent and kicks off their back, sending them flying forward.
Scizor - Grips tightly with one pincer and swings behind him. Similar to Donkey Kong's back-throw.
Blaziken - Rolls backward, onto his back, bringing the opponent with him and kicking him away behind(the only description I can think of is what Simba did to Scar in the climax of their movie :D)
Down-Grab:
Weavile - Drops the opponent on the ground while he hops over them and then slashes with both arms them as he lands, knocking them up in the air.
Scizor - Brings both arms up and slams them down over the opponent, knocking them to the ground and causing them to skid backwards.
Blaziken - Raises a leg and dropkicks the opponent, causing them to bounce into the air about half as far as Weavile does.
Special:
Weavile - Swift - Weavile fires off a spray of tiny stars from a swing of his arms which propel forward at high speeds like ninja stars. They do damage but do not inflict flinching, similar to Fox's blaster, but have an effect similar to Squirtle's in which they propel the opponent backward. When launched in the air, Weavile's attack fires at a downward 45 degree angle.
Scizor - Double-Team - Scizor performs a pose while his image shifts a bit, performing a counterattack when hit by physical or projectile attacks. This move is almost identical to Lucario's, except Scizor attacks from in front of the opponent rather than from behind.
Blaziken - Flamethrower - Blaziken fires a stream of flames from his mouth. Identical to Bowser and Charizard's.
Up-Special:
Weavile - Quick Attack - Weavile speeds in one direction designated by the tilt of the control stick. Has long range and is very quick. Whatever is in its path receives minimal damage with high knockback, but there is no damage received at the point that Weavile stops.
Scizor - Fly - With his insectoid wings, Scizor gains true flight for a small period of time, identical to Pit's Wings of Icarus. Scizor is more agile and can fly faster than Pit, but the ability is active for a shorter period of time as a result.
Blaziken - Sky Uppercut - Somewhat similar to Melee's Roy's Up-Special, Blaziken is propelled upwards at a forward angle with a burning fist uppercut.
Side-Special:
Weavile - False Swipe - Weavile charges a slash as he sprints forward samurai-style. The attack does very minimal damage, but the longer that the button is held, the more stun it will cause. But the move has absolutely no knock-back ability.
Scizor - Fury Cutter - Similar to Meta-Knight's Side-Special only without the directional influence, Scizor buzzes forward for a distance, slashing at ultra-fast speeds in front of him. If someone gets caught in the first few slashes they usually are stuck and hit by the rest, the final slash doing the most damage and propelling them forward.
Blaziken - Double Kick - Blaziken leaps forward, performing two spinning air kicks, both charged with fire. The second hit is stronger than the first.
Down-Special: Pokemon Change - Switches from Weavile to Scizor, to Blaziken, and back to Weavile.
Final Smash: Beat Up - A close-quarters attack similar to Ike's or Link's. If the opponent(s) is hit by the strike of the Pokemon they are then subjected to a series of ninja-like strikes from Weavile and Scizor, followed by a furiously burning melee combo from Blaziken ended by a triple-strike from all three Pokemon at once, launching the opponent upwards.
Learning Curve: Average-to-Difficult, depending on how much time you want to devote to all three fighters(there are still players who stick to one Pokemon when using Trainer.)
Access: Unlockable: Subspace Emissary, or beat Classic Mode on Hard with Pokemon Trainer using no Continues.
Up-Taunt:
Weavile - Gets low to the ground and strikes a cool pose.
Scizor - Hovers over the ground similar to Pit.
Blaziken - Raises a burning fist into the air victoriously.
Side-Taunt:
Weavile - Raises arm out and motions for the opponent to come at him with his claws.
Scizor - Pinches the air twice with his pincers.
Blaziken - Performs a strong Muay-Thai-style one-legged stance.
Down-Taunt:
Weavile - Does an Egyptian-style dance with his arms.
Scizor - Spins in place similar to Mewtwo.
Blaziken - Does a bouncing stance similar to Bruce Lee's fighting style.
Costumes: While the Pokemon would get color changes(Blue, Green and Yellow are alternate colors), the Rival model would change between the four rivals from the four generations of the Pokemon games.
Why: The biggest gripe any Pokemon fan has with Smash Bros. is the lack of representation of the other generations in comparison to the first-generation bunch. In the three games, only Pichu and Lucario have represented the newer batches of Pokemon to be released while the other four characters, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo and Trainer, all represented exclusively first-generation, the series released over a decade ago. Weavile, Scizor and Blaziken are all popular choices of their respective generations, with Blaziken being the #1 candidate of the 3rd generation next to Deoxys for being turned into a fighter. This rendition of Pokemon Rival allows representation of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Pokemon without over-cluttering the game's roster with too many Pokemon-franchise fighters.
