Most disappointing battle in a showa film.

I was actually disappointed in the lack of the military presence in the Mechagodzilla films.

I think the fight between Godzilla and Ebriah was an easy guess.

King Caeser's fight with Mechagodzilla. Just made Caesar look kinda lame.

I was kinda disappointed in the battle between Kong and Godzilla... just thought it would be more dramatic than it was. You can bet if they EVER had the chance to REMAKE that battle... it would be 'SPECTACULAR'.

That is the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Overall I think I was pretty much satisfied with most of them. I am sure someone will mention a scene I forgot.

The biggest diapointment was the Godzilla and Angruirus vs. the JSDF in DAM. I overall don't care for the film but, uhhhh...

The Godzilla Vs. Rodan battle in G:TTHM was decent but fairly disappointing.

I love the battles in Monster Zero but wish they had lasted longer.

Son of Godzilla in general. Godzilla spends much of the movie sleeping. The Kamacuras battle was meh. The battle with Kumonga was slightly better but it would have been nice if it were a triangle match.

The final battle in DAM. I have warmed up to this battle more so over time, but it seems so anti-climatic and way too quick. How about having half the monsters still under the control of the Kilaaks and fight alongside Ghidorah?

Another dissapointing battle is Mothra vs. Godzilla in 1966. Sure, there was a time limit but with all the plot holes in the series already, another one could have been beneficiary.

Godzilla vs. Anguirus in GRA. Want to know why? Because Anguirus did absolutely NOTHING to Goji through the whole fight. It may have looked "even," but really, it was not. Godzilla ended up killing him with a simple bite and then burned him to cinders with a lack-luster mist-like beam.

Another one is the DAM final battle. Ghidorah got owned by two scrubs (Ang and Goro) plus Godzilla while the rest of the kaiju stood around practically laughing at how bad Ghidorah got his *** kicked.

Every fight in Godzilla vs. Megalon was pretty crappy too...

Overall though, most fights in the Showa Era are pretty entertaining and well done.

Funny you should mention that. Hisao Yukawa did some of the story boarding for GRA and Angy was to bite Goji in the neck.

But Godzilla tossing Gabara into the air like that was awesome, something which would not be done again till Godzilla tossing King Ghidorah up and down over and over again in 1991.

Personally (and this is just only me) I loved the fight between Godzilla/Minya and Gabara... I thought his power display was incredibly cool, he was one of the only foes to have a touch power (Well... maybe Kong had it first... but not nearly at the level Gabara did).
Go back and look at the amazing electrical arcing again... I looks pretty damn cool.

Then there is the tossing thing. Which looked seriously good... especially when Gabara rolled after that flip, then popped back up... There was some of the best foot work in any Godzilla film as far as I am concerned and most of the SHOWA foot work stuff in general was superior to any of the stuff that proceeded it (past ToMG), when they gave Godzilla that huge butt and legs. (with the exception of King Caesar's great moves in FW).

You know... I hadn't thought about Godzilla vs the Thing (Mothra). Your right. There certainly could and should have been more. But the G-suit was pretty damn awesome in it which makes up for it.

I thought the fights between G&Ang were pretty brutal in GRA... but you are right... and I hadn't thought about that either... Anguirus really didn't do anything to Godzilla (Poor Anguirus - I think everyone should go read Mech74's Every Dog Has His Day: An Anguirus Story! (http://www.kaijuphile.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7432) to see Anguirus get his due. It is a fun short story).

Almost seems like the general consensus is the Ending of DAM... which yeah... now that I think about it... it would have been fun to see Ghidorah really tear it up. There were plenty of monsters for him to take down. Though I would have be loath to watch any of them die... Ghidorah should have at least messed them up... and that includes Godzilla. I personally don't mind that Gorosaurus and Anguirus played a big hand in taking Ghidorah down. But I think Ghidorah should have TAGGED and INJURED everyone that appeared in that battle. After all... he was Godzilla and Co. greatest foe... ANYHOW... yeah... unfortunately. My vote actually has to go with this one. Cause it was too fast at the end. Good call Kent.

That was not impressive. Godzills still held on to the necks and the angle of the shot was not that good.

In Zarkorr The Invader where the monster's battle with the miltary is ,just in the most half-arsed way, described over the radio.
Godzilla Vs. Hedorah-most of the time Godzilla was coughing his lungs out, or getting ozzed on by the pollution spawned menace.

You know I put a little more thought into it and I think Destroy all monsters was most dissapointing. Half the monsters did nothing and Ghidorah just kinda stood there and didn't fight back too much.

I don't know why, but I've always enjoyed DAM even though the final battle is a bit disappointing. I still found all the kaijus practically lynching King Ghidorah very entertaining.

As for me, I'd have to say the whole of Godzilla vs. Gigan since most of the fights was stock footage.

But you have to enjoy them putting in the scene where Goji gets blasted in the balls from GTTHM, LOL.

Gigan is in my top 5
