To Our Members: Forum 'Make-Over?'

Some discussion among the site administration has led to the possibility of restructuring some portions of the KP boards. However, before anything is actually done, we'd like to see the opinions of other members. Here's the basic gist of what we've considered changing:



Restructuring the Fan Nest: merging various sub-forums there in order to streamline the browsing 'experience,' making it easier to navigate. This would probably include parts of the Kaiju Story Showcase and Department of Kaijuology, among possible others.
Possibly downsizing/merging some of the kaiju-related forums - presumably including the "Toho & Godzilla" sections.

We would appreciate your input on the matter, along with any suggestions as to what else could be redone.

The Fannest DEFINITELY needs streamlining. Waaaay too many boards in there, plenty of superfluous stuff.

I do not know anything of the fannest, but I say no to compressing togeather the Toho/Godzilla forums...

There is alot of Material, but I am looking for factual stuff. The only thing in the fannest I am interested in or involved with is Opertion Gojira, which not many people care about... Though since you are an admin I shall check it out sooner or later.

Juding by the rate of posting in the Toho/Godzilla forums (just looked through the "most recent post date" in the forums), they could handle being merged into one subforum.

And if the tagging is done right, there'd be no problem with merging the fan nest stuff.

...Or is the forum layout alright as is.....? We're pretty much letting the members decide, so if you dont speak up then we're assuming that everything is peachy keen...

I think putting the whole of the Fan-nest in one complete listing isn't such a bad idea.

I don't think it would be a bad idea to combine the Kaiju Games with Kaiju Books, Comics, Cards and Magazines

I actually don't mind the eras being separate. Though in many many cases there is an vast amount of (unavoidable) bleed-over when discussing the various eras (Showa/Heisei/Mel/next!) of the series. This happens quite a bit in the TohoGD section as well. The format is fine by my eyes. But I doubt it would hurt anything to condense it (seems every forum I have looked at after I discovered this one has pretty much the same layout - and since I believe that different is good... a change in format wouldn't be resented from my angle).

You might want to consider also housing Kaiju on Television and VHS, DVDs, CDs, Blueray in the same entrie.

Daikaiju Desumacchi VIII (http://www.kaijuphile.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=234) seems fine the way it is set up.

Otherwise I think everything is pretty nice the way it is.
This is such an extensive forum with a huge membership that I doubt you would have to change much of anything. -maybe only condensing those less used aspects with others.

Isn't there some way for you guys to track which aspects are in frequent use and which ones are gathering dust?

I wouldn't mind a few more choices for skins on the site. Something silvery and mecha-organic looking. With electronic looking colors. if your taking suggestions.
