I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but it looks like he had some trouble acting alongside his Japanese co-stars in his Toho films. Every time a Japanese actor stops talking there's a noticeable pause, as if Adams was making sure that they were done with their line. Despite this, he turned out to be a wise investment for Toho, as the two films he starred in overseas are today notable mainly because he's in them. It's too bad he didn't reprise his role for War of the Gargantuas, as Russ Tamblyn obviously was not taking the material seriously. In fact, he sleeps walks through that film even worse than Burr in Godzilla 1985.
