<font color='#FF0000'>I saw a picture of it on Gamerashrine.com, and here at Rodan's Roost. But what was it supposed to be? A Garaship baby? I've heard it was half plant, half bird, but it's just weird looking. Could somebody fill me in please?

Without reading the original story treatment, we'll never know.
It's not a baby Garasharp. There were two young Garasharps, that looked just like their parent. After destroying the large one, Gamera flew the youngsters to a tropical island to live in peace.

I think it was Gamera.

Maybe the "Obscure Kaijuologists" might have something on this one. I actually don't recall having seen that name before myself...

No, Garasharp is a giant serpent. You can see pictures of him in the "Kaiju Scrap-Yard."

You can see pictures of him in the "Kaiju Scrap-Yard."
Go out to the "kaijuphile.com Main Page" and click on the link for "Rodan's Roost." Then click on the link for the "Scrapyard" and select the "Gamera vs Garasharp" option.

Been trying to find out about this guy for a looong time. His only major appearance was in the "Gamera Vs. Garasharp" mini-movie on an old Gamera LD set. (As stated above, there are stills taken from this in the 'Kaiju Scrapyard'.) 'Malcopurappa' (and various spellings thereof) is the only thing this particular part- bird, part-fish, part-mecha creation has ever been called, when it's even referred to by name. One story has this being a rejected design for what became Gamera's other foe, Guiron. He's a lost Gamera opponent with much mystery behind him.....

He’s definitely not part Mecha Cam, or if he is, then you sure can’t tell from his figure. If anything, I would say that hes part plant(think myconid) & bird. Though his only real bird like features are his beak and I guess you could say his arms are sot of like a birds legs.

I was basing that presumption on those hydraulic looking arms and joints of his plus that small clear dome on the top of his head. That sure looks like a cockpit of some kind to me....
I also notice that the costume version's head would have been copiously covered in whiffle balls...

Well wasn't one of the proposed Garasharp design plans to have the creature be two headed? As what the scrap-yard said, give Gamera his own Ghidorah-ish enemy.

Is it possible that Malcoparopa is in fact an original character made for the "Gamera vs. Garasharp" mini-movie of the Japanese laserdisc set and not having its origins with the source inspiration, the unmade 1972 project itself?

Good point. Someone really has to ask Noriaki Yuasa (the director) about that....
