Well. Its not likely, being I am not yet an established screenwriter. But I finally completed my first full length movie script and yes it is my vision for the new Godzilla. I want to share it with all my fellow G-fans and get their feedback and opinions. I worked for 4 months on this and made a lot of changes as I went. It still needs a little work but overall I think most fans will enjoy it. So without further ado, here is my vision of Godzilla 2012.

So has anybody read this yet? What were your thoughts? Please share. Is this the movie Legendary should make? Is this a good interpretation of how a new Godzilla franchise should be. And most of all, is there enough Godzilla? I really concentrated on making him the star of HIS movie.
I tried to stay as true as I could to his roots, made him to be a destructive force of nature, and an anti-hero at the same time. But also made it beliavable, there shouldnt be any plot holes, I really did my homework while writing. Also at the same time, I paid tribute to the many fine characters and actors throughout the series. Hope you are enjoying reading it, as much as I enjoyed writing it. My hope is that the new movie will contain a lot of elements I used. It should provide satisfaction for the fans, as well as draw in a slew of new ones.

It was a good read, I enjoyed it a lot. I like how you gave him his name and the way you payed homage to previous Kaiju (like Mothra and Gamera) and some of the characters from previous Kaiju movies. However, sometimes I felt like you borrowed some things from other movies...like when the President removes the Colonel and appoints the General reminded me too much of Independence Day when Bill Pullman fires his Secretary of Defense. Other than some small things, it's a real solid script in my opinion. One other thing I would consider adding is a little more of an explanation or theory as to how Godzilla and Kentragon actually came to be. Great job none the less! Cheers!

Thanks for the comments guys. I really appreciate the feedback. Havent had much except for family and friends, and well.. that doesn't count. Glad you enjoyed it. Zilla92, Appreciate the feedback. You are correct that there were some "borrowed" scenes. Most of them were "rebooted" scenes from great Godzilla films. I really tried to pay homage to the classic Kaiju films but in a modern way. As for the scene you reffered to, I see it now, but I definitely wasn't borrowing anything from Devlin/Emmerich. When I write the character of the president, I had Keiffer Sutherland in mind to play that role. (Jack Bauer as president, love the irony) And he is a bad *** that wont be pushed around by his cabinet. Tired of weak president figures in movies. So to me it was a natural reaction when the typical war mongering General wants to use brawn over brains. As far as Godzilla & Kentragons origins. I thought I covered it pretty good. Plain and simple, Hammond was experimenting with what man shouldn't (bio engineering and radiation dont mix) and because of the "accident" he gave birth to the 2 monsters. There will be a little more in depth explanations in the sequel. Didn't want to bore people with too much dialog. The movie is about Godzilla and I needed the focus to be on him, not the supporting characters.

Hey, Gmanp. In light of the fact that you put so much effort into this, I'd like to help you out a little bit.

I haven't had time to read over this, but I tossed this together for you to make it a little easier for people to read through it in sections, since the site formatting with everything backwards is difficult, especially with the full content visible, I made a quick reference guide, feel free to copy/paste it into your first post. Also, if you want/need an HTML version of this to post on your main site, I can put one together for ya in very little time.

I'll try to read over it and get some feedback to you if I can, though I'm not sure how well I can critique writing.

Wow! Thanks X. That was great. I really screwed up when I posted the script to the blog link and had the scenes backwards. Yes. That menu is much easier to navigate. Thank you again. As far as a critique... Remember that a script reads different from a novel. It is not as detailed and does require you to use your imagination to visualize. Hopefully when you read it, you can see the picture in your mind like I did when writing it.
With that being said, just rate it like you would any Godzilla movie.
I have a friend that is working on some story boards for this. When they're done I will post them, and you all can get a better visual.
Though this is the Godzilla that I pictured when writing.

Glad to hear that. I loved writing it and sharing it. The sequel will be very epic. It wont be ready for a few more months as I have other projects I'm working on. But I have made many positive changes in my head and its all coming together nicely. All I can say is that it will involve 2 Toho monsters that fans love and most people wouldn't really know, but my vision of these characters is amazing (and a little violent) and should have fans very pleased.
I will give a teaser though. the title will be, "Godzilla Raids Again". and the only thing it has in common with the original is the title and Godzilla.

Well. It took 10 hours to draw. But here is the first storyboard for my Godzilla 2012 script. This features Godzilla Vs. Kentragon at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas.

Damn, that's awesome! Though, if you don't mind my asking, were you looking off of IDW's comic as reference? Still, the environments are well detailed. You can tell just by glancing at it that this took a lot of effort. It certainly puts my shitty drawing to shame.

yes the IDW comics were my main reference. I'm no artist and it was a first for me. Just really wanted a visual for my script. I also used photos of the Godzilla statue above. My first attempt at making it look like that though were pretty bad, I had no knowledge of shading or making body lines, so the comic image helped me fill in the blanks.

My only complaint(I have yet to read the first two sequel scenes) is that keeping Godzilla inland-bound means no aquatic scenes with him.Afterall, his amphibious lifestyle is one of the qualities that's made him interesting since first being conceived though I'm assuming you'll change that in the next two screenplays.Other than that, great read!Kentragon was a neat creation(especially with the spore attack)and Las Vegas is a city that really needs more kaiju action,film-wise.The closest thing to a kaiju film set in Vegas is 'Honey I Blew Up The Kid'.

Thank You , I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I felt Las Vegas was the perfect backdrop for a Godzilla movie. For many reasons, First and foremost it is very recognizable to people all over the world with it's many famous landmarks. second ... it fits within the Godzilla mythology. Man created him and he is retribution for all of mans sins and what better place to destroy than Sin City itself. And of course because like you said, aside from "honey I blew up the kid" Vegas is usually only used for comedies, love stories, and gangster movies.
You are correct about aquatic scenes, though did you notice that he was obsessed with water ? He tried twice to get in water, once at Treasure Island and then again at the Belaggio. I think once you get to the sequel you'll find that Godzilla's goal was to find water.
I hope to pick up more on the sequel sometime in April/ May. Just have a lot of projects pending right now that have priority.
