This is probably a close fight, but Gamera's ability to fly won't help him much against Godzilla. I can't see Gamera's melee skills overcoming Godzilla, despite both monsters pulling off crazy feats in combat.

Wow. This fight is classic. I don't really know which way to go. Gamera's feats of implausible is better than Showa Godzilla's, but Shwoa Godzilla fights more appropriately for longer of the fight than Showa Gamera does. Showa Goji has better foot work, Showa Gamera has flight and better defenses. Wow. I would love to see these two go at it.

If this is Godzilla at the end of his Showa career, I think he can take it. They both certainly have some ridiculous feats, but Gamera never really got out of the "sluggish boxing" phase, whereas Godzilla in the later movies could look like he was hyped up on crack.

Furthermore, Gamera can be...well...a bit of a baby when it comes to taking punishment. Not that I'm saying he can't take it, but he'll kind of wail for a while after it happens. This tends to lead to the "Gamera always loses before he wins" bits in the movies. Given, his fight with Viras contradicts this a bit, but that was more flying away (with Viras still on board) than fighting back (IIRC, my memory on Viras is a bit fuzzy).

I'm pretty confident Godzilla is gonna pull it off with aggression and speed.

I'm split... as a straight-up melee match, this is gonna be very even-handed. Gamera's problems from the original series were always having to fight enemies that made hand-to-hand almost impossible. So without that problem here, it's gonna come down to whoever can out-ridiculous the other. This is gonna be like some classic wrestling match or a sumo fight. :p

I'm with Seer on this. Gamera is overall pretty sluggish, while Godzilla doesn't simply allow his enemies to beat him up first. That will cost Gammy.

Now if only we had this fight on film. That would be something to see.

WOW I've been gone a looong time. Hmmm I'd have to go with Goji on this one Gamera's tough and he has that shell but also he has that shell if Godzilla knocks him on his back he'll pound him into turtle soup especialy since in the later Showa films Godzilla eas really relentless physically just look at how he pummeled Mechagodzilla and then eventualy threw him at least a block now I know that Mechagodzilla wasn't doing anything at that point but that's still a testament to Godzilla's stregnth. Gamera will be able to drag the match out pretty long with his endurance but in the end Godzilla has better movement and will find a way to get past the turtles defenses.
