Deadline reports that David Goyer will write the screenplay for Legendary Pictures' Godzilla from a draft by David Callaham. Goyer has worked on Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed Superman movie.
Toho's Godzilla franchise boasts one of the most widely recognized film creatures worldwide, resulting in a series of books, television programs, video games and more than 25 films worldwide. Legendary Pictures intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible.
Gareth Edwards will direct the Warner Bros. Pictures release, to be produced by Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.

Couldn't be in much better hands! Glad to hear they're not starting over completely from scratch. Hopefully things should get rolling before too long.

Very interesting. I can't even begin to imagine what this film is going to feel like, but this is good news.

A very good sign (sighs of relief).
Thanks for the post, X-SOLDIER.
Remember, Comic-Con is coming soon (July 21-24)

If there is nothing Legendary/G-2012-related this year
at Comic Con, I'll be very surprised.
For those of us who can't attend,
keep your eyes on G-4 TV (who usually covers it all)
& the internet if/when you can.
If you see anything, spill it here first!

I'll also be incredibly surprised if there isn't any G-2012 news at ComicCon. I'll be glued to the information, and if I don't see it here, do my best to post it up. I'm really hoping that they'll at least put out a conceptual design for the big G, but I won't hold my breath over it.

I'm hoping this is David "Nolan's Batman Trilogy" Goyer writing this film!
I'll even take David "Demonic Toys/The Puppet Masters" Goyer!
.....I'm just praying it's not David "The Crow: City Of Angels" Goyer

In Goyer's defense, hisoriginal idea for the second Crow flick was a Victorian era story. The Weinstein's, in all their usual brilliance, wanted a flick like the original. So he gave them what they wanted.

What I'm wondering is whether or not Goyer will try to make the film a mind-bender...
