Comic strips that need to be made into movies and or TV shows.

Garfield is being made, starring a CGI cat as the Garf with Bill Murray giving him his voice. Looks pretty good, and hopefully will be better then Scooby Doo.

But now to things that need to be made into TV shows or movies.

1. Foxtrot, which is essentially Dilbert for the Geeky (in other words, us... yes.. admit it.. we're geeks). It's been running since the 80s, and is a bit like Dexter's Lab, only smarter and more "hip". It'd make a great TV show or Movie, it'd also be a Internet persons dream because the jokes in Bill Amends comics are sometimes off to the side or hidden a bit (Much like what happens in the simpsons). It would, in short, be a excellent TV series or movie (OR BOTH!http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

2. The Far side: I could think of what the Far side would be like: Twilight Zone meant for comedy. Each episode would have 1 or 2 clips of hilarious paranormal stories.

3. Calvin and Hobbes: Why not?

4. The Peanuts Gang: AHhhh, good old Charlie Brown and Snoopy. They've been in countless TV specials, movies and other things. Only one thing remains: a live action movie. A live action peanuts movie would have to, and I mean HAVE to, be put together just right. It would be a movie that depending on how it's put together could win Best Picture at the Oscars..... or worst picture at the razzies. Because the peanuts gang is arguably the greatest thing ever drawn and written (with the possible exception of Superman), ONLY, and I mean ONLY a good movie would do. But it'd be difficult. They'd need a cast consisting of ONLY kids (most of which would be no-names), CGI generated Dogs and birds, a good story (probably revolving around Baseball or the little red hair girl), A good score and at least one tip of the hat to Charles Schultz. If ANY of those elements (Cast, CGI, Story, Score and tribute) faultered one bit, the movie would be, in my opinion, a failure. It would be a movie that would go down in the history books as either "Best movie of all time" or "What could have been".

You forgot possibly the best comic out there...

GET FUZZY

It's obscure amongst the masses, but for those who've read it, many will say it's superb to the recent Garfield strips. It's about a skinny guy in advertising named Rob, looking after his slow-witted dog Satchel and his trash-talking cat Bucky. Bucky can be found in Saruman's signature.
I'm not sure if it would be made into a quality movie, but some sort of animated feature would be best.

F***k movies, Gary Larson needs to come off his hiatus. One of my greatest role models and he hasn't done a comic in years, come on Gary! Give us a new book or something! http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I received THE COMPLETE 2 VOLUME FAR SIDE as a Christmas gift this year. These books weigh like 20 pounds! What a treasure!

its Fantastic! Every cartoon Larson ever did, plus a few new ones.

By the way, in the late 80's I do remember a FAR SIDE cartoon special on TV. I think it only aired once.

There is some rumor floating around the Net about a Far Side Movie, but I have not heard anything definite.

Comics only need to be made into movies if they're done right.

After seeing the previews for the Garfield movie, all my expectations went down the drain. Where's the CGI Odie?! A talking cat was fine, but a dog with a huge tongue wasn't realistic enough? *shakes head* People, people, no live-action dog could ever replace Odie.

It's a shame to, because Garfield is in my top five favorite comic strips, along with other greats like the Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, the Far Side, and Fox Trot.

<font color='#0000FF'>May I propose that no comics need to be made into movies or Tv shows.

If you recall Garfeild was a funny stip before it's induction into the hall of Tv crap. now it's just a washed out syndicated strip like all the others.
I'd like to see Doonsbury turned into a TV show, that was half live action news footage and have animated commentary on said footage.

The comic medium, I think is an excelent media in it's own right.
Re-visioning comics into movies is a good sell and entertaining for ten minutes, but by making a movie out or TV show out of a comic, not only suggests that the comic medium is inferior to Television and Film but I don't think it could be done at all with a syndicated strip, without diluting the particular kind of humour in it.
Ask yourself if you would enjoy a &quot;Get Fuzzy&quot; Novel... as in with out pictures...possibly but not likely

I'd like to see new ideas on screen, rather than canibolising our old ones.

Oh and by the way... Charles Schultz's &quot;Peanuts&quot; Rock http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

<font color='#008080'>Me &amp; my sister love Foxtrot and we've always though it should be made into a TV show. Jason rocks, if a comic character could ever be considered an idol he would be mine. The Far Side would be kind of a cool TV show. Actually it was already kind of made into one, it was called Three South and had an extremely short run on MTV. I don't know how much Mr. Larson had to do with it, but you could totally tell that all the characters were at least designed by him.

no, not Calvin and Hobbes. &nbsp;it really is the best comic ever written, but it would only be an insult with the kind of movies they're making now.

Get Fuzzy is the funniest comic strip out there today, Calvin and Hobbes is another personal fave. Both would be great shows.
