I think the one before the Man from Planet X was the alien from a movie called 'Creature' made in the 1980's and one of the first 'Alien' knock-offs.

The one before that is definately the minotaur from the Italian sword-and-sandal picture of the same name. Although he isn't in the film much, when he shows up he is alot more frightening and intimidating than that still shows. For one thing, the face looks much longer and more bull-like when he's moving around.

Doctor Anton Arcane from Swamp Thing (1982). Terrible depiction of a great villian. My advice is read the Swamp Thing comics, particulary Alan Moore's Swamp Thing: Love and Death for the human evil incarnate of the true Anton Arcane.

"Anton Arcane was born in the late 19th century in an unnamed Balkan state. He was a monstrous child who abused his younger siblings Gregori and Aniela, and the family was happy to see him leave for the Hamburg School of Medicine. Anton became obsessed with immortality, and surrendered his soul to sadism and debauchery in pursuit of it. He was caught taking drugs and abusing his fellow students, but when he attempted to reanimate a corpse the school had enough and expelled him. He became a battlefield medic during WWI and secretly used dead soldiers as subjects for his necromantic experiments. During the final days of the war he was summoned to his cousin Hans von Hammer's home to examine a wounded pilot. The pilot was actually the plant elemental Swamp Thing, who was trapped in an uncontrolled trip through time. It was this encounter and studies of Swamp Thing's body that would later inspire Arcane to pursue the theory that an eternally regenerating vegetable body could best survive the ravages of time. During the war Arcane struck up a friendship with Adolf Hitler, and would later become a trusted aide of Hitler during WWII. Arcane finally succeeded in reanimating the dead while working in Germany, creating a small band of undead creatures named the Un-Men.

(Swamp Thing vol. 1 #2, 10)-After WWII he gained possession of a castle in the Balkans and populated it with Un-Men. During this time he also discovered the newly dead body of his brother Gregor, and transformed him into the monstrous Patchwork Man. After years of waiting Arcane located Swamp Thing. Having been born only a few weeks before, Swamp Thing did not yet know Arcane, and was easily coerced by the sorcerer. Arcane used his magic to assume Swamp Thing's form and shaped a human body for Swamp Thing identical to Alex Holland. When Swamp Thing realized Arcane's evil intentions he reversed the spell, and Arcane fell from a tower window while fleeing the enraged elemental. The Un-Men found Arcane's shattered body and rebuilt it as best they could. Arcane, (now a lanky, monstrous, skeletal creature,) and the Un-Men tracked down Swamp Thing, but Arcane's body was once again destroyed.

His Un-Men resurrected Arcane once again, this time as a half-human/half-insect cyborg riding around in a giant mechanical dragonfly, and at the end of his third conflict with the Swamp Thing, Arcane's physical form was finally destroyed, seemingly forever.

(Saga of the Swamp Thing #29-31, Saga of the Swamp Thing Annual #2)-Even in death Arcane still plotted revenge. He was too powerful and malign even for Hell, and managed to return to Earth in the form of a fly. His niece's husband, Matt Cable, had developed potent reality-bending powers, but his will was weakened by his alcoholism and lust. Anton used the chance to posess the dying body of his niece's alcoholic husband, who had just had a lethal car crash. A truly un-nerving scene occurs when Matt opens his mouth to allow Arcane, the fly, in.

Pretending to be him, he lived with his niece until he gathered enough minions to grant him a position of power. Pretending to be Matt he gave her three surprises. The first is her new home, a mansion. The second is his new job, with a firm called Blackriver Recorporations. The third Abby only learns later, when she learns that Matt’s “coworkers” are actually mass murderers, and Matt and his friends drop their pretenses when Anton Arcane mutters to her, “Just say uncle.”

Arcane used Matt's godlike powers to create Chaso on Earth (At Arkam Ayslum, the Joker has stopped laughing), bring back old dead killers from Hell back to life. All across Louisiana, and spreading into other states, the madness that Arcane had unleashed made normal people succumb to homicidal impulses. He tormented Swamp Thing by killing Abigial Arcane and consigning her soul to Hell.

But was caught unaware by his foe's newly learned elemental powers, with Swamp Thing's great lines like: "You claim the Earth for yourself, when you have not one-tenth of the Earth's power. You mock God...you make the world useless with your lies."

Swamp Thing weakened him enough for Matt to cast the demon out. But also dooming himself in the process, by renoucing the control of his powers, Matt's body became once again fatally injured. His last act to restore Abigal to life.

Arcane returned to Hell where he served as a plaything for demons and an incubator of fly larvae. When the Swamp Thing comes across the soul of Arcane in Hell, who is being tortured. While he is still obsessed with his ‘revenge’, Arcane asks for one small thing from the Swamp Thing: to tell him how many years he has been suffering. When Swamp Thing replies that he has only been there for a single day, "One Day?" Arcane lets out a horrifying scream and you truly understand the despair of the damned.

Arcane earned his place as a low-caste tormentor demon by Beelzebub. Arcane continued to make life miserable for both Swamp Thing and his niece Abigail until he had an epiphany and pledged his allegiance to heaven.
