What is the best Giant Spider movie? I say Eight Legged Freaks, I always liked that movie.

My favorite is either Tarantula or Earth vs. the Spider.
Both are very atmospheric and creepy and have okay special effects for the time. It was great seeing the bodies of people with their blood sucked out in EvsTS. They were surprisingly bloody films!

Tarantula owned! That scene where they try and blow him up and and he just keeps on walking-pure classic.

LOL. Yeah, but it would have had alot more effect if you could not see the spider's legs moving on both sides of the smoke!

I just noticed something...

HEDORAH is in Eight Legged Freaks! When the female cop says "everyone meet at the mall" and it shows a bunch of pictures over a window and shows the spider's shadow behind them, one of the pictures is of Flying Form Hedorah flying over the city.

I smell lawsuit! LOL
And yeah Hank that was always some what of a bummer. You know what would be a good movie...Tarantula vs The Deadly Mantis!

"Tarantula" is a classic and I really need to revisit it...when I find my blasted copy that is. Although extremely cartoonish, "Eight Legged Freaks" is fun in a "Gremlins" sort of way, and despite the Minya bashing, Kumonga is a pretty decent kaiju and "Son of Godzilla" despite its short comings can be an entertaining fantasy. So those are my picks above, or at least the ones I've seen that I liked so far.

Son of Godzilla wasn't a spider movie! The spider part was only the middle and end!!

Well seeing as how "The Giant Spider invasion" wasn't mentioned, I'm a gonna go with the Classic "Tarantula", which featured a very very young Clint Eastwood!

Damn it! I knew I forgot a movie! Anyway, just use "other" for TGSI.

[QUOTE=Jet Jaguar]Well seeing as how "The Giant Spider invasion" wasn't mentioned...QUOTE]The real question is why didn't you use the 'other' option for it?

While on the subject of 'other' gaint spider movies, there's also this oddball from Japan, "Doreijuu", a 2000 made for video horror comedy where a woman named Yuka is kidnapped my mysterious men and taken to a secret laboratory and injected with some experimental drug. She escapes, but the drug causes Yuka to turn lewdly (sexually unchaste or licentious) and eventually mutates into a 30 foot spider monster. "Doreijuu" translates as "Slave Beast"

Tarantula. Recorded it off AMC a couple years back and while not the greatest 50s sci-fi, it is probably the best of the giant spider movies.

I am going with Eight legged freaks it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I did enjoy even though some of it was campy.

Tarrantula, hands down. A great film which I bought years ago and still enjoy today. So many spine-chilling scenes, and failed military attacks. I wanted to see the spider trash town though...>_>
