In my opinion Mothra represents the environment. I know some people think that Mothra is unrealistic, but she is more realistic that you think. Mothra represents mother nature because she respects it, unlike some humans that live in the world. Mothra realizes that everything on the planet is the property of living thing, and if it is ruined then there is chaos, or bad things such as global warming, deforestation, and toxins that are released into the oceans.

Mothra also represents humanity. She defends us when we are vulnerable to other monsters and dangerous celestial forces. Some people think Mothra and Battra represent the same thing, but Battra was created not to defend the people and the Earth, but to just defend the Earth. I'd like some other opinions about what Mothra represents.;)

If the english dubbing is right in G&M:BFE, the Cosmos are keepers of order and balance. Mothra would therefore represent order and balance. Mothra's respect for nature comes from the fact that the enviroment must be balanced. Humans are a part of nature even if some of us throw the enviroment off balance. Mothra is stuck defending humanity (the inocent ones at least) from complete destruction.

^ I see Mothra as the guardian of Earth itself. But she wastes her time protecting humans when she could be protecting the enviroment from the humans.

If Mothra even remotely represented the enviroment, she would have killed off humans long ago. All she really represents is man, and even then, does a bad job of it at times...

There's nothing wrong with Mothra's cause. It just makes her a unique monster, different from the rest.....

Hah! Well put my friend, well put.

Humanity is stupid, and we will be destroyed by our own stupidity. Such things are unnavoidable.

So I see Mothra as more of a keeper of the peace in general, as was said before.

Is that why 98% of all the fights, it ends the same way if mankind fought a monster.

1964- Got thrashed by Godzilla, Got thrashed by Ghidorah. Needed two to defeat the king and needed MAJOR help to fight Ghidorah.

1966- Tried a hit and run tactic on Godzilla just to save some humans.

1968- Stayed back and let others do the hard stuff.

1992- Ran away while Goji got busy with Battra, decided to team with an enemy to face a greater threat (actually worked)

1995- Got killed by a more powerful kaiju and fled. Needed a more powerful thing (IE: What humans do with Mechs) to defeat the threat.

1996- Form was to weak against Dagarha, made new form (IE: What humans do with mechs) to defeat Dagarha.

1998- Was over powered, couldn't make new form. Had to kill the baby form by going back in time. Still didn't win, so she made a new form (IE: What humans do with mechs) to kill Grand Ghidorah.

2001- Got killed by her own stupidity (chirping while behind Godzilla)

2003- Died while protecting off spring. Off spring teamed with semi enemy to take down a bigger threat.
--------

While Mothra is a cool and unique kaiju, she represents humans...both good and bad qualities that lead to her demise over half the time.
