Synopsis- NASA had just launched a new rocket into space, the Solaris. Not revealing one part of it to the public though, that part being project "Mother In Law" or M.I.L for short. On the experiment, NASA was injecting Funnal Web Spiders with alien DNA. Strait after injection, the ship was hit by a solar flare. Everyone but one of the astronaughts was killed, and the ship was told to be burned up during reentry, but a group of three college kids (Marcey, Slick, Jake)
were there, and wouldn't you know it, the ship crashes strait in front of them. The three investigate the crash and find the survivor who asks for help, but then NASA and the military come to secure the area. Marcey and the others need to hide in one of the trucks where they would throw the body's of the astronaughts. As NASA investigates the crash, M.I.L lays an egg in the survivor, and is then accidently stepped on.
The remains of the spider were bagged, the survivor taken back to base, and the ship blew up. As NASA goes back to base, Marcey and the others start to sneak around, and eventually meet up with the survivor of the crash of says "No one gets out alive" and then a huge spider comes out of his mouth. Two of the doctors come running in, and are killed, and in the mean time, Marcey and friend run into a closet where they find body parts in jars and a frozen alien. When they look out the window, the spider jumps up, and they baracade the door with a barral. They leave the back way, and soon find themselves in a huge web (how the spider got there is beyond me). As they travel through, the spider attacks, and bites one of them (Jake). As Rick bats the spider away, it falls off the ledge and fall down a few storys, and evolves into an even bigger spider after crashing.
They soon find themselves in a lab where M.I.L was studied and devolped, and find out the poison is extremely poisonous and there is no cure (funny how Jake has no reaction till now). Jake runs out of the room with a hook in hand, and looks for the spider. Marcey and Slick follow, but Jake is attacked by the bigger spider. They eventually find the hook and Jake's glasses in a puddle of blood, and then try to escape through an elevator, but they don't have the security codes, so they need to climb the ladder up. They try and open one of the elevator doors, but the huge spider is waiting, and both fall until hitting a web. Slick is stuck but Marcey manages to brake free. The spider drops down on Slick who yells Marcey to run. Marcey climbs the ladder and soon escapes the spider.
Marcey trys to find a way out, but runs into one of the governement people who have been tracking the spider down. Marcey thinks he is one of the evil men who cover everything up, and trys to shoot him with his gun after knocking it out of his hand, but he ducks, and Marcey runs off with him chasing. They soon find them selves in the bottom leval where they fall into water, and lucky enough, the spider somehow managed to get down there. Marcey saves the NASA worker, and together they escape, and find its nest. But, Wilson, the leader of the project is waiting ready to kill any witnesses (Marcey), but as he prepares to kill both, webs tie him up, and pull him back into a web and then, the spider lays an egg in him. Marcey and the NASA worker (name escapes my mind right now) escape and soon find one of the military officers and get his security card so they can use the elevator to leave. They enter the elevator, and surprise surprise, the spider attacks from the bottom after leaving it at the gates. The spider bursts from the floor boards but the NASA worker hits the "go down" button and makes the spider squish against the floor, finally killing it...
Both of them soon run back to Marcey job at the papers, where they find Wilson who shot the editor. Wilson is about to kill them both, but then huge spider legs come from his back, and his body bursts and another spider emmerges. Marcey and everyone run from the building, and the spider, who somehow grew from five feet to about 35 feet, bursts from the building, and starts a rampage. The spider picks people up in its mouth, trashes cars, and every thing. Marcey and the NASA worker find Wilson's chopper which has a rocket launcher in it, but when the worker fires it, he misses. The spider then somehow gets to the other side of town in a few seconds when they reload the launcher.
Both of them take off in the chopper, and find the spider at the convention center. The spider climbs the building, and Marcey fires another rocket, hitting it, but not piercing the armor like exoskeleton. Marcey then decides to use the last by shooting it down the spider's mouth, so the worker makes the chopper go down, but the spider hits it, making Marcey fall from the door, and is now hanging by a rope. Marcey fires the rocket into the Spider's mouth, and finally kills it.
Remarks- A pretty fun and fast paced movie, but with A LOT of mistakes. A few of them worth mentioning are the spider on how it gets from floor to floor. It litteraly goes from floor one to five in a matter of seconds. The acting is fair...but not great. The bad guy, Wilson, is pretty good though, one of the betters in a monster movie. The CGI is fair also, pretty good especially on the end rampage, which is the best made for TV rampage I ever saw...and BEST giant spider rampage I ever saw. The characters are not vary memorable though...the only actually worth mentioning are Wilson and Marcey, who are mainly the only good actors/actresses in the entire film. The NASA worker's name escapes my mind strait after watching it...
