View Full Version : Forming Beams/Rays

After viewing the formation of Godzilla's beam thread in a different forum, it got me thinking... how do other kaiju form their beams and rays? Kaiju like Showa Baragon, who sports a sort of fire ray, is not radioactive at all, so his body can't induce fission and fusion in order to create a beam of energy. So, how do other kaiju, such as Showa Baragon, Showa King Ghidorah, Mothra Leo, and others form their beams or rays inside their bodies?

wow, this is rather complicated.
as for baragon, it is possible that a chemical is produced in his body that when expelled through a controlled "belch" can ignite in even low temperatures. This would produce a flame out of the mouth in Baragon's case.
As for King Ghidorah, I honestly have no idea. Same for Mothra Leo.

<font color='#8D38C9'>Mothra Leo had beams comming out of the Wazzoo!!!!!!! I don't know how anyone can explain that

Mothra Leo is a mystical creature/avatar of the earth, I think that's pretty much all the explanation we need. It's just like in the case God, He is Power Infinite*, so He can do anything he wants. Almost the same case with Armored Mothra, though on an infinitesimally smaller scale.

Ok here is my theory for Ghidorah's gravity bolts. With the exception of GMK and Heisei. King Ghidorah has always been a space creature. AS such he is probably made of exotic non-earth elements. Hy belief goes that one part of his body produces superdense atoms that have collapsed on them selves to just be neutrons. Sort of the same material as a neutron star. These superdense atoms are excited and accelerated out of his mouth which is why they glow. Now these particles are so dense they have their own gravity field, hense the antigravity rays. However because of their excited state and unstable structure whenever they hit any thing with mass they explode. They are so dangerous because first off they are superdense and each atom is probably compressed to about the size of a neutron. So sense these are so dense a stream of these coming at you would be about as equivalent to a stream of tank shells coming at you. The next thing is that since they have there own gravitational field when they come near any atoms they pull them a little. Basically whatever they hit they pull apart. The next thing is since these things are highly unstable they would probably explode if they hit anything releasing a lot of potentially dangerous energy which is why tanks melted, buildings blew up, and show Godzilla was severely "tickled" by them

Actually, I believe it's more than that. I think Baragon has a chemical in his horn that can ignite fires. That is why it glows underground or in dark places. The chemical is expelled through several tubes that connect into one, which is why the beam forms a rounded shape. Whenever pain is brought onto him, he brings out the chemical, which sparks in the tube and creates fire. Here is a crappy picture I took of a scene in FCTW right after Frankie hit Baragon in the horn with a rock. He didn't seem to have much control over it, so I think it was an accident from the boulder. Copy and paste: http://www.geocities.com/baragonsdomain/beam.JPG Also, when he fires it on purpose, his ears go up, which probably means that muscles in his ears kind of trigger the beam, so it's probably like Godzilla's warning in his spines before he fires.
And I believe he has a somewhat chemically powered jump, but that's another story. *winks*

I'm wondering if his ears aren't used to aim or focus the beam in some way. http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/baragonsmilie.gif

Its possible, Baragon is an underground kaiju, so his vision is probably rather poor. I think his ears are more for the purpose of navigating underground, he probably has a type of sonar that we dont know about and it probably helps him aim his flame breath.

<font color='#8D38C9'>I can see that. He uses his ears as Radar to locate and lock on to his targets. Some what like a mole, that's an underground creature, that has poor vision.

After watching again last night, I have to agree with you. When he attacks the farm at night, his years are raised, except when eating. I also think they trigger the beam, so he can target his foes, and fire.

Wow, pretty good theories about Baragon and how he uses his ray.
Anyone have a theory on how Gamera can release his plasma fireballs?
My theory is that Gamera stores the products that he uses to create the fireballs in his shell (after Iris's blade stabs through his abdomen and out of his back, we see a spark of fire). Gamera would channel plasma energies up his throat and soon combines the plasma with fire. Where Gamera is able to release a huge burst of fireballs from his mouth.
I'm sure there are better explanations though.
Also a little off topic, but do you think the reason of why Legion's electro-magnetic shield blocked Gamera's plasma fireballs in the first place, because plasma has electromagnetic properties and she was able to control it?

Well in one of my Gamera 95' books it has the biology of all the Daiei Gamera kaiju up to that point in it. Eventually most of these pictures will be making thrir way to the Roost. Unfortunately they decided to put Gamera 95' right in the middle of the spine so getting a scan or pic of it will be extremely difficult in any decent quality.
But Gamera has 3 sacs in his body, 1 in his midsection around where we would have our stomach, the other nesteled at the far back of his throat under the shell and the 3rd in front of the 2nd one closer to the back of his mouth. The Stomach sac sends "energy" (dont know what else to call it as I dont read Japanese http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif ), up to the sac in Gameras throat, just behind the mouth, then the 2nd sac in back of that one, sends another substance into the 3rd sac and they then combine and are fired out of his mouth.
Hope that helps.
Oh and Showa Gamera is completely different and I dont think I could explain it even with the picture they supplied in my book.

I would say thats part of it, which would explain why Legion was capable of actually catching one of the Plasma balls without it exploding. But I think the shield is more like the shields you see in Star Trek in the way it works, as it distributes the energy over the shield and away from her. Thus you would need something with extreme amounts of power to penetrate it or force the shield to collapse, which is the reason for the use of the Mana Beam.
Outside the Mana Beam, I think the only other beam/energy attack that could penetrate that shield would be GXM Gojis Black Hole Beam. I dont think that any other Kaiju has the power sufficent enough to overload that shield the way it is designed.

Thanks Jeff,
I was thinking today on how the Gyaos fire their sonic beams. Since Gyaos' sonic beams are basically light and sound (thanks Sandworm for that info), I thought that when the particles of light charge into his mouth, the Gyaos is of course--absorbing light molecules. You can hear a loud vibration of sound during this process. I think Gyaos is manifesting sound from his vocal cords and amplifying them until finally it comes it with the sound and releases a sonic beam.
