What do you think Yoshi is anyways? some say dragon,some say Dinosaur,some say frog.There is evidence supporting all theroies.
DINOSAUR:
It is known that Nintendo wanted Mario to ride a Dinosaur in the NES games,but because of the technology it was parctialy impossibe until the SNES came along,and Super Mario World took place in Dinosaur Land
DRAGON:
IN SMW,the Yoshi coins that you collect are called "Dragon Coins" but have a Yoshi on the side.In Japan,Yoshis name is "Super Dragon Yoshii"
FROG:
His apperance,like when the Yoshis are young there very Frog like in apperance.His tongue and jumping ability support him being a frog.

It's a Dinosaur, hands down. It just takes a genius like Shigeru Miyamoto to take a concept and warp it into a charecter as unique as Yoshi.
Though I think he is a more evolved Dino, such as he can flutter, like a bird. He also reminds me of a velocioraptor (fast, jump large distances, short hands [that could go for a T-Rex also], likes eggs.)
Oh and whoever did the ASCII graphics needs some credit cause that is awesome.

Here's another little tidbit supporting the dino theory: Yoshi is often mentioned in books covering dinosaurs in the movies and other representations.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with a Dinosaur. Everything I've seen called him a Dinosaur, and I think they speciffically call him one in the Super Mario World cartoon. Plus, if he was a frog, wouldn't the baby yoshis be tadpoles? The Nintendo world has frogs and tadpoles, speciffically in Super Mario RPG, and they look nothing like Yoshi. He doesn't look like a Dragon too much too me either. He does breath fire at some points, but thats only after eating speciffic colored shells in Super Mario world.

Not that I am argueing (for once), but what in the world does this mean?Well, Shigeru Miyamoto is the man who created most of Nintendo's charectars (for those of you who don't know) including Mario, DK, and Link. What I was saying there, was that he took the concept of a dinosaur and warped (transformed) it into a likeable and extremly recognizable charectar. he just know's how to take everyday things (even though dinosaurs aren't everyday things) and make them into great videogame items.
Like when he created Pikmen, he actually got the idea one day when he was out in his garden and watched a colony of ants interact and go about daily life. The concept of a game like that arose from that, and now we have Pikmen.

Dang Shadow, you now your stuff. lol Well, I have to go with the majority here and say that Yoshi is a dino. Reason: other than those already listed, Yoshi looks nothing like a dragon or frog, and everything like a dinosaur IMO.

Also, Yoshi has changed slightly since he first appeared. When first created, he had red gloves that covered his hands, as seen in Super Mario World for SNES, but now look at any picture from recent (like SSBM or Mario Party) and he has bare hands with four fingers.

Shigeru Miyamoto was inspired to create the Chain Chomps by a Chained Dog that attacked him when he was a kid,thats how they got there barking.

It could be another Yoshi, a different Yoshi from the Yoshi island. Or maybe Yoshi is evolving to where he has hair and likes to wear pants... :laugh:

I would say Yoshi is a dragon.
Yoshis cant be frogs because they lay amniotic eggs (which no self-respecting amphibian would do).
Yoshis cant be dinosaurs because they are apparently hexapods. That is, if you include the wings they apparently hide
somewhere.
Dragons are, usually, reptilian critters that often have wings as well as four legs. Just like Yoshis (well, hands anyway. But close enough).

Nah, Yoshi is defintly a Dinosaur, cousin of the Tyranosaurus. Look at em' Two, short, nearly useless arms, can run rather fast, Intimidateing( If your a Koopa or Goomba... ).

I think that Yoshi is a dinosaur. All the data supports it.
It could just be a Yoshi. An entirely new species that somehow fuses frogs, dragons, and dinosaurs.
BTW, Shadow, it is Pikmin not Pikmen. Just thought you would like to know. :p
