View Full Version : Worst Movie Sequals

The Great MM

This is the opposite of the BEST MOVIE SEQUALS, what movies do you feel are the worst sequals to their first.

Chud 2: Bud the Chud- An absolute spit in the face to the original B-Movie classic. The Chuds wern't even the cool, scary, humanoid, reptile, zombie things. They were just...zombies that danced and talked.... They didn't even have the cool glowing eyes, and the story, plot, and acting sucked.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge- By far the worst movie in the NoES series (which is odd, since the first movie was so good; usually it takes two or three sequels for a series like this to really go downhill). Everything from the acting, character work, and even the ways Freddy kills people are terrible. Doesn't even fall under the "so bad it's funny to watch" category.

Halloween: Ressurection- Not only a terrible movie in it's own right, but it's dumps on the the much better movie before it. Hint to Hollywood: when somebody makes a "final movie" in a series like this, and it works (like Halloween H2O did), leave it alone.

Alien 3- An okay movie in it's own right, but taken in context of the series, it craps all over the whole point of the previous movie in some very unforgivable ways (which is sad, because Aliens is probably the greatest U.S.-made monster film of all time). The worst part is that it was all done just to make more money off of the franchise.

King King vs. Godzilla- This is it folks. This is where kaiju films first showed the signs of going downhill and being reduced to "kiddie" fare. Kong and Godzilla are both portrayed as a couple of oversized buffoons who's antics are played strictly for laughs, and that Kong suit has got to be one of the most atrocious things to have ever "graced" kaiju films. And this isn't even a true crossover, either, just another ape-like creature with the name "King Kong" attached to it that has nothing to do with the original monster.

King Kong Lives- The first movie was also an atrocity, but this is even more so. Talk about a sequel that nobody asked for. Note to certain individuals who are going to go after me for listing this (not gonna name names): if you think the acting in this movie was good, start taking acting classes because you obviously don't know what good acting is.

More as I think of them.....

King Kong vs. Godzilla!!?! can't agree at all there. Sure beats Godzilla Raids Again (had to catch myself there, almost sware   )..

Anway-

Godzilla Raids Again- Utter crap considering how great Gojira is, and how much better sequals after it would be. Just a bad movie.

Nightmare on Elm St. 2 (I can agree with you there Zigra)- terrible, terrible movie.
Halloween 2
Halloween Ressurection
Alien 3
Alien Ressurection
ect.

Ah, I almost forgot Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge. Thanks for reminding me, Hank:) I also didn't care for Jaws 2, but I wouldn't put it on my "worst" list.

Oh boy. This is gonna be long.

Friday the 13th, III- ??? -> The first movie was actually pretty good. The second, at least, wasn't a raging infection upon the moviegoing public. Can;t say the same for the successors.

Alien 3-> I don;t have much to add here.

Alien Ressurection-> NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Predator 2-> So he's in the city. Big whoop. Sooner or later, every monster that comes to a city gets shot fulla holes.

High Noon 2-> Yes, they made a sequel. No, I'm not kidding. Now help me claw my eyes out.

American Psycho 2-> Never mind that the first movie wasn't really understood by the public- apparently the studio didn't get it, either, because this sequel should not exist.

King Kong Lives-> The "first" one was bad enough, but this?

Jurassic Park 2-> The book was good. So of course they fail to use most of it for the movie.

Jurassic park 3-> When Alan Grant, the hero, is a guest star in his own movie, somebody needs to execute the scriptwriter.

Star Trek: Insurrection-> Stop. Just stop. Now.

Never Say Never Again-> One of the few Bond films I actually consider totally unwatchable... and Sean Connery's in it!

Godzilla vs. Megalon, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Godzilla's Revenge, and many, many more, showa, heisei, and millenium-> Come on, people. If it weren't for a childhood dose of the big G, most of us would run from these movies, screaming our heads off.

Gamera vs. Zigra, Gamera vs. Monster X, and many, many more-> Ditto.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2-> Even if you liek the series, this one's not a hit.

Halloween III-> I'm cheating. This isn't really a sequel.

Hellraiser III on up-> The whole "S&M Demons rave about the 'sweet suffering' while trying to kill you" thing gets pretty old pretty fast. Especially Hellraiser III. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

All Leprechaun sequels-> Do I really have to explain myself here?

The Mummy Returns-> Yeah, the new one. The one that gave us that horribly lame Scorpion King, on top of the unscary Mummy we'd already gotten. Somebody needs to pay for this one.

Haha! Oh come on, you know you love them! :D

And as for Gamera... well.... some things are better left unsaid...

Hmmm...well don't have many right now but I am going to at least name one set of films, including the trilogy, that needs to be condemned to Hell for eternity! These movies have done nothing but the trash the minds of those who even dare to watch them....
In case you haven't figured it out by now, I am talking about The Matrix films! Yes those films were so pointless it actually put me to sleep! No movie, and I mean NO movie, up to this point in time, has had such an affect on me!

More as they come.

Can a horrible sequel be one that people WERE NOT asking for? I mean something like Anacondas since the public was just demanding for another giant snake movie :sarcasm:

Well many sequels I don't like have already be mention so here's some other ones that I can think of the top of my head:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3
Robocop 3
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (words can not express the pure crappiness that reeked from that film)
Boa vs. Python (since the first two of each series weren't crappy enough)
Dragonheart 2 and Dragonheart: A New Beginning (since one crappy sequel wasn't enough)
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (Nuclearman?!?)

Wow...I'm noticing a lot of 3s and crap in my list.

Ooohh... my list MAY possibly be longer... let's see.

-Mortal Kombat Annihilation: Man... if you ask me... the first Mortal Kombat movie was quite possibly THE WAY to make a movie based off a VIDEO GAME. The Sequel... is quite possibly THE WAY NOT to make a sequel based off a movie... based off a video game. Could've become a cool series of movies if they had hired some competant writers and not gotten rid of most of the actors from the first one.

-Austin Powers: Spy Who Shagged Me: Utterly dull, complete retread of old gags, Dr. Evil made completely lame... when the only slight saving grace is a Metric Ton Scottsman named Fat *******... you know your movie might possibly... suck.

-Jaws 3: I don't care what people say... but Jaws The Revenge was about 100% more watchable than this one. Not only does it fudge it facts on sharks (regular, normal sharks can't swim backwards, sharks don't care about their offspring no matter what species it is, and sharks need to constantly MOVE or die). Take with that an inept script, an impossibly ludicrous size for a great white shark (man-eating or other wise) and possibly the most incompetant shark of the whole series (the mother hardly eats ANYONE, and she has so many oppurtunities). Utter crap.

-Superman 3 & 4: Ughh... sorry to those who still remembering Reeves... but these two movies SUCKED. Nuclear Man... ugh...

-Lost World: Jurassic Park 2: Possibly the first signs that the mighty movie-making engine that's Steven Spielberg may be fizzling out. This movie... it... it just... seems to live in an impossible world, where skilled (and ARMED) hunters and mercenaries fall by the wayside to the dinos, while unarmed civilians and paleontologists survives practically unscathed.

-Jurassic Park 3: Why? Not only does it fudge on continuity (WHERE'D THAT SPINOSAURUS COME FROM?!?!?! Why isn't the military keeping this place under the most strictest of observation, after the last movie?!?!?!? How does Ellie get help so quickly??!?!?!), and not to mention how it handles Grant. I was supposed to believe that unarmed and un-jungle trained civilians could survive meat-eating dinosaurs in the last movie... but now I'm supposed to swallow the idea that one CITY KID could survive in the wild... a wild that's populated by MEAT-EATING DINOSAURS? Ughh... my head hurts.

-Godzilla Raids Again: Never churn out your sequels five months after the first movie. Don't speed-up your fight footage to ludicrous levels. That and never give said foreign release rights to a company that will screw up with the dubbing.

-Mummy Returns: Lame sequel to a decent "remake". Pacing is too fast, story too ridiculous, and annoying child actor. Lame CGI scorpion king that makes even Reptillian's computer effects look astounding and state of the art.

-King Kong Lives: While I may like the ending where Kong faces off against the military, taking cannon & machine gun shots to the chest, but still going on and WINNING before succumbing to his wounds... the rest of the movie sucks. Boy does it ever... may have on saving grace... but... just doesn't seem like it's worth going through the first 95.5% of the movie to see it.

-Terror of MechaGodzilla: When compared the preceding movie that came before it... it's almost utter garbage and a cheap way to cash in on the attention and box office return the first clash recieved.

-Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines: Man... it was GREAT to see Arnold back in one of his best roles EVER... but... it still couldn't save this sorry movie. There is No Fate But the Fate We Make... unless the script writer is changed. They should have gotten a better actor to play John Conner as well. Course... this movie was screwed from the get-go since it comes after quite possibly THE movie sequel... Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Had lofty expectations.

-Batman and Robin: Worse useage of characters, those butt shots that weren't needed, worst choices of actors for these characters (I like Arnold Schwarzenegger... but he makes a crappy Mr. Freeze), and just poor story.

-Matrix: Reloaded: Not as thrilling as the first one, a very piss poor way of explaining thing (thanks to the "Neo talking to the Architect" scene) and the very useless Rave Scene that was so pointlessly long... that it defies common logic. Not to mention those two worthless "Ghost" character who never show up again after this. Revolutions was surprisingly better.

-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: *winces* The first sequel wasn't too bad, (Sure... Vanilla Ice was in #2, but only for a few minutes) but this one was a sorry excuse for a sequel. They should've gone in a different direction instead of traveling back to Fuedal Japan for no good logical reason.

-Home Alone 3: Worthless... useless... pathetic... not even a Macully Caulkin (or however you spell his name) cameo... utter trash. Avoid it like the plague.

-Friday the 13th part 8: Jason Takes Manhatten: Now I know how some view horror sequels here... but this one shouldn't have been made. Not only does it share a similar title with a MUPPETS movie... but it's painful for fans of the genre, and fan of the series... like me. Most painful scene? The Ending, which has the most dumb looking Jason face of the entire series.

-Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare: Pathetic movie and a pathetic way to "end" the Nightmare series. The original script, or at least what claims to be, is so much better and makes a lot more sense than this piece of cinema garbage.

-Halloween III: Pure crap. Next.

-The Ewoks movies: Yeah... you heard me... they made some Ewoks movies... which can count as sequels (since Wicket learns english in these, something he had no grasp of in Return of the Jedi). About as bad as they sound.

Gods... I can't think of anymore. If I do... I'll be sure to put them up on this list.

:kinggoji: :gamera: :kingkong:

Matrix 2 and 3- I didn't like the original... but that just means I hated the sequels for different reasons from everybody else.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation- What SXA said. Only take out the good comments about the first one.

Blade II- Let me get this straight... you're not happy with one mediocre vampire-hunter movie? You want another? And you're willing to bring a dead character back for no reason whatsoever? Okay. Knock yourselves out. Oh yeah, and those "reaper" things? Pitiful.

Blade III- So bad it deserves special mention. Token hot chick listens to MP3s when she's hunting?! That alone would have doomed a better movie. Throw in a lame version of Dracula, a bunch of wimpy vampires, and Snipes striking a pose every six seconds, andyou have something that's only worth watching if you want to be driven insane.

The Exorcist II- Stay. Away. From. This. Movie. Exorcist: The Beginning was better. Not much, but it was better.

The Neverending Story Part 3- When the Childlike Empress looks into our world and is fascinated by shopping (not to mention Engywook and Urgl spending the entire movie searching for a bathroom), that's when I knew we'd hit the bottom of the barrel...

Something even worse- I just found out there's a Home Alone 4!.....

All of the Bethoveen sequels and the Air Bud sequels. Actually the first Air Bud was aweful too for that matter. And the last Terminater.

Yeah I'm a little shocked about there being a Home Alone 4 too. 3 Was bad enough. Hell... 2 wasn't even that good either.

Beethoven is a series that should be put to sleep. Should have been after the first lame sequel. Same with Air Bud.

Speaking of series that need ENDING, Leprechaun is one of them. The first movie was possibly the best of them... and that ain't saying much. By the time you got Leprechaun in the Hood sorry... In da Hood... that may be a sign that the series of films is in serious need of cancellation. Who keeps renting these or worse... BUYING them? Now.. I rented 3 of the movies (thankfully the first 3) to see what the whole fuss was about. After the 3rd one... I had had enough of seeing Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun. I'm glad I haven't touched such garbage as Leprechaun in Space, or the two Hood movies.

I don't mind the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, or Halloween movies strangely though. Call me weird if you must.

Oh... almost forgot. Shark Attack sequels. Yeah... that needs to stop. If you're stuck using DOCUMENTARY footage of real life sharks, maginfied on screen to look humongous... you might want to start looking for newer ideas for OTHER movie topics.

We must never forget Resident Evil 2 or Omen 4 (what, The Second Coming didn't happen?)! Not to mention the single greatest disappointment in the history of man:

Alien Vs. Predator.

Alien Vs. Predator.

I don't believe that is considered a sequel. The storyline doesn't follow any of the previous Alien or Predator films. Freddy Vs. Jason did though.

I don't believe that is considered a sequel.

In context of the Alien movies, you're right. It's actually a prequel, showing us how the Weyland corporation first gained knowledge of the xenomorphs.

Hmm, here I go

2 Fast 2 Furious- First, you didn't use Vin Diesel, I thought that it was evil that Vin Diesel wasn't in the sequel to the movie that shot him to stardom. The chase scenes were bad. The characters were even worse.

Any of the Disney direct-to-video sequels- Don't get me started on these crapshot fests. Bad plots, changing actors, etc
