Ok, heres a fight I always wanted to see. On one side, we have the Giant Tarantula from the movie "TARANTULA" and in the other, we have the Giant Mantis from "THE DEADLY MANTIS".
Arena: Pennsylvania Trailer Park
Rules: Both are scaled to 100 feet tall.

The Tarantula wins this. All it takes is a single bite and injection of it's venom, and the Mantis' innards will be liquified.

Then mind telling me how it liquified bodies in the movie. And by the way, ALL spiders/arachnids have some sort of poison.

Since I am in the mood for a debate right now...
Would the mantis allow him though? Many mantids enjoy eating spiders, birds, and lizards, and the claws would make good tools for keeping the spider at a distance.

Hmmm, the Mantis's flight and obviously quicker reflexes will come in handy and its much bigger then the Tarantula. But the Tarantula is built like a tank, its Exoskeleton won't be easy to break through.
But Iam going to have to go with the Mantis,he'll fly circles around the big spider.Lets not forget the trailer park, your going to have alcohol and lots of barbeques, and flamming trash cans.If I remember right, the Tarantulas weakness is fire or burning.....

Uh, pay attention in school some more, please. ALL spiders have venom. The venom in most species of tarantula simply isn't potent enough to do any more harm to a human being than a bee sting.

Maybe. I've never heard of a mantis eating a tarantula. Quite the opposite. Maybe smaller spiders, but not tarantulas as far as I know (if anybody knows differently, feel free to correct me). Perhaps he could keep the tarantula at a distance with those claws, but I think one bite is all it will take for the tarantual to take the mantis down.

Uhh... I live in a PA trailer park... I never even remotely heard of something like that around here (or anywhere). It's just an ancient myth, it ain't true. Anyone who would do that would be kicked out of the park by the owner.

You live in a trailer park? * Tries too contain laughter * Anyway, Fire wont scare off a Tarantula, as long as its not surounding him. And a Mantis NEVER uses its wings too get land Prey. They will stare it down, and quickly strike at any given opertunity, Saddly, for the Mantis, this is also what Some Tarantula will do. It all comes down too who can hit who first.

Hey, step off. Some people just don't have the money that some of us have. Anyway, Hmmmmm. This is an interesting match. Tarantual has a strong exoskeleton plus the venom. But Mantis can fly and has very long arms. I think I'm gonna go with Mantis, for his agility. If he could somehow flip the Tarantula over, he could stab him with his arms. Also, from what I've heard, Mantis' are actually somewhat smart.
