Best Showa Gamera Foe

I'm just curious as to whose the most favorite among the Roost. Also to know which movie to grab should I ever get the chance to rent and/or buy any of these movies.

I liked Barugon the most out of all of them, he was the only normal one out of the bunch.  He just wanted to be left alone unlike the rest who either wanted to eat everyone or world domination (Zigra).

My personal fave is Barugon. &nbsp;He is the most realistic looking, a well-realized quadruped. &nbsp;He is also a tragic character, removed from his natural habitat through no fault of his own. &nbsp;I don't see Gamera as the hero of the movie. &nbsp;My sympathies lie with Barugon when he is gruesomely burned by his own ray and then dragged underwater to his doom. &nbsp;Like King Kong, he is a victim of man's greed.

Barugon is my fav Showa Gamera films like the others say, Gamera seemed more like the villan, he had no rite to attack Baru, Baru wasn't attacking any kids.

For many of the same reasons I have to rate Barugon as my favorite Showa Gamera foe.

One thing has always puzzled me about GamVsBaru, why did the humans seem to like Gamera so much? &nbsp;He seemed to be the larger threat, smashing a dam and drowning several hundred people and all.

Without a doubt, Barugon. Can't really add much to what's been said. He just wanted to be left alone, and for the time, he looked realistic enough for me. And he is very powerful as well, I mean, his Rainbow beam is easily one of the most powerful Kaiju attacks ever. And as Zillamon said, Baru was a tragic character: in the movie I found myself rooting for him instead of Gamera. In any case, Baru is definitely one of the most unique monsters ever created, and that's why I really like him.

Barugon was really one Gamera's toughest and most indestructible foes and that freaking rainbow he unleashed was probably one of the most incredible weapons ever dreamed up for a kaiju. I would have really loved to see him reincarnated in the new Gamera films. I like Zigra mainly because of his design, he's so sleek and cool looking. He just happened to be in a terrible movie, similar to Gigan, who was a cool monster but whose reputation was ruined by appearing in less than steller G-films.
Of all the potential monsters who might appear opposite Gamera in the new film announced, Barugon and Zigra are definatly my top picks.

The Showa Gamera films just seem to abound with unique and interesting creatures!

Barugon just has a damn impressive array of weapons. The Rainbow Ray, Ice Mist, etc.

My second favorite is Guiron. His knife blade is 100 times harder than diamond, as has been stated on Kaiju Statistics (website). His shurikens are a great long range weapon, especially since they return to Guiron if they haven't become embedded into something. Guiron was definitely unique in his own right.

Omg, I finally saw Gamera vs. Jiger, and I have to say I was impressed majorly by Jiger.

She is definately underated. Both kaiju she lost against in the DD's she should have won against. Moguera? I can't see Moguera winning against Jiger. She is just too deadly, her saliva salvo is deadly, Moguera would find multiple projectiles clogging up his joints.

Then the robopenguin would find himself being shredded a part by a ray that attacks a kaiju at the cellular level!

Any of his attacks would probably have little effect on Jiger, nothing Gamera did even flinched her until he used her totem, which she has a weakness to!

Biollante would definately have been pwned by Jiger. Everyones argument about Biollante losing so easily to Godzilla was because 'Zilla's ray was attacking her cells.

Jigers ray automatically does that! I can't see where people were getting that her ray would NOT effect biollante in that fight. It would have shredded her faster than any other beam could have!

Anyways, I'd definately say Jiger is rivalling Barugon as my favorite kaiju, she deserves more credit than she gets. Most people just ignore her abilities because she had a poor movie, much like most of the Showa Gamera foes, including Barugon.

Yeah! I forgot about those eggs! That's another underated ability of Jiger.

Every person claims that 'omg the eggs won't survive in such a hostile environment! The acid/radioactivity/cuteness will kill them!'

But everyone seems to forget that they survived in a living plasma furnace, undeniably one of the most hostile inner bodies of any kaiju(Except BG and any of the Unkillables)

Heck, Jiger is one of the kaiju who stands a chance against Armored Mothra. All that armor she has? It doesn't matter the skeletonizing ray attacks it at a molecular level!

Also, if Jiger was able to get her stinger inside Armor mothra somehow, and inject eggs, (mayhaps in one of AM's big eyes?), Mothra has no known way to kill them short of killing herself.

yeah after i saw gamera vs jiger yesterday gamera was getting stung with that spike in her tail that ray witch people turn into bones and destroying a whole city. although a corny thing is gamera had to put in pole inside his head,i could of got godzilla vs barugon thank god that im going to get it tommorrow.
Didnt gamera die from that egg inside him until he got revived.

Barugon was pretty awesome, the rainbow beam is extremly powerful. Too bad his weakness is one of the things that is extremly abundant on earth.

Gyaos is cool too, I like how their story has advanced.

The more unique they are, the more I like them.
Barugon and Viras aren't anything very special to me, but they are still good monsters. Gyaos and Jiger are kickass!

That is kind of a toughy for me. I like Barugon but am also fond of Gyaos and Jaiger. I guess I will choose all three. Zigra, Guiron, and Viras were good kaiju as well but I just thought they just did not seem to be as dangerous to Gamera like the other three. Although Guiron did get some good shots in.

My favorite Gamera enemy would have to be Gyaos from the showa series.He was quite a tuff battle for Gamera and Gamera vs. Gyaos was the most watched Gamera movie for me.I would rent that one all the time as a small 4 year old boy.Now that I have the REAL american version(Return of the giant monsters)I can watch the flick anytime.(I sed to have the Sandy Frank home video version.Thats the one I watched as a kid.Ishould have kept it just to have the version I grew up with.But now I can watch the version my Dad saw as a kid!Arent flashbacks great?)My other choice would have to be Baragon because he as so COOL!Chill out Gamera!HEHE!

My favorite without a doubt has to be Zigra. He just looked so downright cool! Sleek, shiny, and just plain mean. Plus he's the ultimate Kaiju badass when it comes to attitude, threatening to wipe every form of human defense out and kill all life on the face of the planet just because Gamera wrecked his ship! To bad he died such a tragic, pathetic, and demeaning death...

Barugon is in at a strong second place. Very unique and inventive monster, and tragically misunderstood. Plus his movie had to be the best of all the Showa Gamera films, IMO. "Read my lips... NO. KENNIES."

Showa Gyaos is another favorite of mine. He gave Gamera a real run for his money (those were long and incredible fights he put up!), and I think his movie was second-best of the series. Loved his look, too.

Viras, the single most underrated and underappreciated Gamera foe of all time, bar none (sorry Aragorn, but Jiger still gets a more-than-healthy amount of respect around the KK forums compared to him). Sure, his movie was riddled with inconsistencies and nonsensicality, but he was still a damn cool monster. And he was the only Gamera foe who didn't need some super-powerful uber-weapon to be a threat.
