.....Feathered. DEAL WITH IT! He looks good with feathers.

I've been mostly drawing Kiryuu, some Godzilla, some King Ghidorah, one Manda and one Titanosaurus, some Biollante...but never have I drawing Rodan.

Heehee...you guys are gonna slaughter me for this, but it's worth it.

Like King Ghidorah, I gave Rodan an enormous wing span. Also, I did a drawing of him when viewed from the ground. With some of my notations to explain the various parts and functions of Rodan's wings and why I made them so huge.

Read with care!

You wouldn't have to be Godzilla Samurai, because i was going through Devian Art earlier today and i saw that feathered rodan......

No, I'm Ghostwalker2061. Gojisam's my...er...I taught him the tricks of computer cell art, so in a way sometimes our art looks very similar.

He drew a Rodan, but it was not feathered. You must have seen my Feathered Rodan in his favorites...meaning he had chosen my drawing as a favorite of his.

Now, do you like it or not?

Here is my Deviant Art Gallery...

O i love it, i love it when an old kaiju is recreated using Natural evolution....

I still think some one should make a KING MEGAGURIOUS....

I'm not very good with bugs, so I tend not to draw them. So, no King Megs out of me.

But yeah, I wanted to base Rodan off of recent discoveries about dinosaurs, so I gave him feathers. It was also theorized that some species of pterosaur did have some feathered augumentations on them...mostly of course to attracked mates like birds do now. That was basically the whole idea behind this concept. The mating rituals of Rodan. Yeah. Kaiju Mating Habits 101!

Come on guys, get with me on this one! LOL!

Actually, you could do 2 Pics. One of the Male, with a large crest and very colorful feathers, and a Duller-Female. Why is the male more " Spectaculare " Because it has too attract the Mate.

*Glomps EB* Yay! EB likes it!

And here's the thing...not as much Dinsey as I usually do with my monsters.

I must say, this was actually a big help to me, I've been trying to vizualize Rodan with a more realistic manner of walking, and I think you hit him right on the money. I think the feathers add some nice color to him, and like all your other changes to Kaiju give him a personal touch that really makes him yours. In other words, I like it a lot.

Also, for that second pic you wouldn't happen to own the Dragonomicon, cause that looks like it could come right from that, at least in the layout and use of notes. It really is interesting to get more of the artists opinion as to why she drew something the way it is.

Awsome! Rodan looks very pheonix-like in that picture, and the wings also remind me of the D&D dragons. I think that's the best rendition of Rodan I've ever seen. Excellent job!

Very good...I wish Toho went this route with Final Wars Rodan.

Is this going to be part of the last MechaGodzilla X series?

When I first read in the post that your Rodan would be feathered, I was hesitant...

But my worries were put to rest the second I saw the art. Rodan looks great!

wow, looks really cool. i like the blue feathers. the beard like gray feathers are a bit distracting, though. i mean, the blue comes out well, but the gray ones make him look more like Z-Z-Top than a kaiju. other than that, its yet another amazing piece. especially the ground view.

Kedz has really done her homework! ;) This is taking paleo art to the next level IMO!
Actually, I think Rodan is probably closest to his source material of any of our kaiju favorities in his initial film so why not refer to the fossil record for his artistic presentation? It works for Bob Bakker, too! :D
Don't feel bad about the "anti-feathers" crowd. Remember when he first put 'em on DINOSAURS? :O Now we have down-covered hatchlings all over the paleo references.
Who's for the FLINTSTONES with DINOS running Bedrock? Pebbles all grown up as a Raptor with a long mane of hair tied at the back of her head and wearing a "power suit" at the Chamber of Commerce immediately comes to mind!
Even if you all cannot "accept" Rodan's wing treatment, at least consider his magnificent head and neck for a "portrait" view. Sauron has just GOT to see this!

That is definitely inspired. I love the crest and the neck, excellent work as always and might I add that the colors are excellent. I never pictured Rodan as a feathered animal effectively before, but you managed to put into paper what I exactly had in mind-- and better!

Peace,

Yes, I am the proud owner of the Dracinomicon. And I even did this notation thing with my KG redesign too. I've recreated a clearer picture for the wingspan on KG. Can't wait to color it in.

Raptor, go grab Sauron and drag his butt down to this thread! I mean it. Get his butt over here!

Like I said with the 'beard' thing...I tried other colors, but gray seemed to be the best.

Yes, this is the Rodan that will appear in the next MGX story.

It's just not fair, I am going to go cry now.

That is simply an amazing picture Kedz, you keep getting better and better with every drawing I see. I love what you did with Rodan, the feathers are a nice touch and really set him apart from the crowd.

Are you ever going to make an album or two or three in Fan Art Gallery? You really should.

Oh and I saw your Shadow Dragon (Probably my favorite of the D&D Dragons) and was simply stunned by the pic, words just can't say enough.

You shoulda posted anyways. I was beginning to think you didn't like my Shadow Dragon. *sniff* I thought I finally drew a dragon that Saruman didn't like.

You think I should do an album there? Well, me think on it.
