For me, next to Godzilla54 it would be Godzilla versus the sea monster. Obviously because the first one is the best of them all and because sea monster was my first to own on a licensed tape. How about you?

I go with Terror of MechaGodzilla. Although it was sorta lowbudget in some scenes, I always liked this film. After that comes Destroy all Monsters and King Kong vs. Godzilla.

There's no way I can pick one favorite, I love all those films for different reasons.
If there were different polls for best monster fights, city destruction scenes and human characters in a Godzilla film, then I could pick some favorites.

Hands down Godzilla is my favorite Showa film. No other film, from any series, or any other kaiju eiga, even comes close. It's an absolute masterpiece.

I honestly don't see how ppl could like "Terror of Mechagodzilla" better than "G vs. MechaG" I mean, come on! The original MechaG movie had Anguirus, King Seesar and several awesome battles! MG'75 was lame compared to his first incarnation (he didn't seem to do as much). My vote is for "Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster" :thumbs:

I like it better because:
A) I'm no fan of king Caesar's. He looks down right goofy, not just here, but in GFW too.
B) The scene where the aliens become gorillas looks really bad.
C) Anguirus is barley in the movie, and he runs away, abandoning his famed 'never say die' auttitude.
D) TOM's MG is better.
E) I like the end battle in TOM better.
F) I also like Titanosaurus.
G) The 'feak' godzilla sene (where it takes off its skin) actually looks better in the opening credits of TOM than it does in GvsMG!

As for me, my favorite is Terror of Mechagodzilla, for sure. Awesome movie, I loved it. Great human plots, some of the best Kaiju action out there, massive city destruction, cool military sequeces, the best Showa Goji suit yet, a perfect mixture of projectiles and physical combat, the best Showa Godzilla entrance yet, and maybe the best Goji entrance ever, Titansaurus *no need to explain ;) * and for sure the best musical score of the Showa days.

Plus, hell, the ending was pretty cool too. Better in the uncut version of course though.

Though I picked G vs MG as my favorite I enjoy watching Terror as well. The only thing that bothered me was the slow and almost docile nature of Mechagodzilla. Where was the vicious brutal killing machine that beat Seezar and Anguirus within an inch of their lives and mauled Goji? I wish he had been in that film. Sure the superior arsenal was nice but I would've liked to have seen Mecha get physical again myself.

MechaG will always be speical to me, simply because it was the first G-movie I ever seen. But I love Godzilla Vs Megalon, call me nuts but I enjoy it for being so damn entertaining.

...For me, it'd have to be a toss-up between "Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla" and "Godzilla's Revenge."

GVM has cool music, a light-hearted, self depreciating style, cool battles, Aliens in shiny spandex, and the "Reach for the sky!" line. It's fun, it's cheesy, and I like cheese. ^____^

GR, OTOH, is... unique. Certainly a different way to make a Godzilla movie. It has an interesting premise, a groovy opening theme, (Saxaphone + Surf Guitar = pwnage in a can. \m/ ^___^ \m/ ) interesting characters, and it gets a lot of harsh treatment from the fandom, which makes me like it more as a result of feeling sorry for it.

...It's a tough call, buuuuut... at the moment, I think "Godzilla's Revenge" is currently my favourite Showa movie.

I know a lot of people hate it, but Godzilla's Revenge has a special place in my heart. I'm just like the kid in that movie - dorky, has few friends, got/gets bullied(mostly by my sister, who seems good at making me wish I was dead on a regular basis) and a tendancy to daydream at inopportune moments.

....I did try to build a radio to contact Monster Island once when I was ten, it didn't work :(

My favourite Showa film so far is Mothra vs. Godzilla, I'm sure you can guess why. But, if I do see Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster in the near future, I believe it may be my favourite.

Well, the best is KOTM, but as for my favorite... that would have to be Godzilla vs. Mothra. It has my favorite version of the Godzilla theme ever, my favorite "earless" Godzilla design, some of the coolest military vs. Godzilla scenes around, and is one of the best cross-overs between two pre-existing characters, allowing both of their backgrounds and styles to shine.

Monster Zero takes a very close second.

It's close, but King Kong vs. Godzilla. Besides being the first Godzilla movie I ever saw, the final battle between Kong and Goji is one of the best kaiju battles in a Godzilla movie, and the Artic showdown is also noteworthy. Yes, it suffers from terrible dubbing, a horrible Kong suit, and some of the worst matte shots I've ever seen, but that just adds to the charm.

Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla.

I might be being a little bias, since it was my first Godzilla movie.

It had a really fun and adventurous "Globe-Trotting" feel to it that keeps my attention, even to this day.

The music is fun and funky and is some of my favorites. It really helps to make the movie even more fun to watch.

The villians are charismatic and super evil.

The special effects are excellant.

MechaGodzilla is my favorite kaiju.

Godzilla is charismatic.

King Ceesar is also a favorite of mine.

The action was intense and fun.

My favorite is Godzilla 1954.I just love the scene of Godzilla walking through Tokyo.There's one one part during his trek through the city where it almost looks like it was a home video and it just looks so cool.

I love Godzilla vs. King Kong. The fight scenes are brilliant and I also like the Godzilla suit used in it, and as someone else mentioned, the arctic suit is good as well. Just behind that is Son of Godzilla - how can you not love Godzilla fighting Kamacuras and Kumonga - and that scene with Godzilla and Minya at the end is sooo cute, and then it's Godzilla vs The Thing - I thing the Godzilla suit was greated and Mothra was good as well. After that it's Godzilla '54 - the original and one of the best, it's great in so many ways. Then, it's of course Godzilla vs Megalon.

MG unloading on Godzilla as he runs across the open field is one of the best scenes in any Godzilla film. The score is one of my absolute favorites.
