This isn't exactly a wannabe or rip off, since.. well, it's from the people who MADE the movie. It contains footage from it atleast, so, it can't be a rip off. As for the link that it directs you to afterward though, that's some dumb stuff in my opinion.

With the new movie coming out, I wanted to know what the Japanese version of the ring was called?

There's four films: Ringu, The Spiral, Ringu 2, and Ringu 0: Birthday.

Yay, a crappy sequel to the crappy knock off of a Japanese horror film... and they are also remaking Dark Waters too... Hollywood needs to get an original idea soon because sooner or later there will be copyright issues pending with Japanese filmmakers who didn't give the proper blessings for their films to be Americanized.

I hate all these promotions trying to pass this ****' off as real. They really scare some people. Has hollywood sunk to the point where they have to use the internet to advertise EVERYTHING? It was the same with blair witch.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Anyway, I am going to see it at the cinema, since the first one was pretty good. Hopefull, it wont be a letdown.

It suffers from terminal sequelitis...
And those deer... heavens preserve us, the DEER...

I have mixed feelings about those deer.
Overall, I suppose it was scarier than the first, but then again, the first film didn't scare me at all. 'Lotta absurdities, though some original visual ideas(at least to my eyes) kept it from being a total waste of time.

Overall, I give it about two stars out of four. It was enjoyable up to a point, but I think the little "happy ending" not only hurt it this film, but completely ruins the impact of the first movie's ending. Give the movie a completely downbeat ending (like say, make Rachael have to kill her own son, and then end up in the insane asylum next to Samara's mother), and I could have forgiven all of the "sequelitis" elements, the flashy special effects (which the first movie pretty much lacked, with good effect), the horrible CGI deer, the different atmosphere which made this movie seem to take place in a different world altoghether, etc.
I will say one thing in the Ring 2's defense: The beginning ROCKED! Has the whole "hell yeah!" factor to it:D

NOOOO dont watch the tape, its too crappy for words,it was the worst movie ive ever seen, more funny than scary, and then again it wasnt very funny. It had zero shocking moments, Happy ending wasnt the only bad thing about it, we never saw that girl at the beginning again. The movie had just about nothing to do with the last one. and two ppl died, I give this movie an R for Retarded (courtesy GTA: Vice City)
