<font color='#FF0000'>I've heard of a Godzilla tv show that was on japanise tv. Also, on the back of the tags to the Godzilla Island line, I think they have pictures from the show, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know anything about this?

There were more than one, but one was called "Monster Planet of Godzilla."
It used the actual Kaiju suites from the Heisei series. they also had new ships and vehicles as well. It actually looks pretty cool from the pictures of it I have in some of my books, but I dont know how the stories are.
There was another show that used kaiju Toys for the characters, mostly the bandai ones. They had just about every Toho kaiju and then some. They even made a new MKG for it which I have a really nice picture of that blows away the real MKG. They also had lots of different Jet jaguars, they appear to be what are used to care for the kaiju as some have Medical crosses on them, and others are doing other things. There are also multiples of the same Kaijus, for example there is a Blue & Pink Hedorah (female I assume) and there is a Black & Yellow Baby Hedorah as well as the real Hedorah. All the kaiju seem to have family units, or atleast a good portion of them seem to. There is even a Space Godzilla with Gold Crystals. The show looks like something that would have been on in the 70's, LOL. I dont know what it was called though.

When do you think you can get this particular image online for us to see? http://www.rodansroost.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I'm pretty curious about it. Unless it's already online somewhere...

There have been several Godzilla-themed TV shows in Japan over the years. *They're usually done to promote a new movie or Godzilla product. Most of these shows are geared to small kids and run early on weekday mornings. GODZILLA ISLAND was one of these shows done to promote the toys (that's why the first wave of figures had the show's name and characters on the tags). It premiered in September 1998.

MONSTER PLANET OF GODZILLA wasn't one of these shows; it was an interactive movie/ride featuring Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra that was created for the Sanrio Puroland amusement park. A close comparision would be the STAR TOURS or TERMINATOR 3-D attractions in the US. It premiered in 1994.
The attraction starred Megumi Odaka (not as Miki Saegusa) and used monster suits and props from the 1992 and 1993 Godzilla films. A spaceship in MONSTER PLANET was created by modifying the Garuda prop from GvsMGII. Outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage were included on the Japanese DVD and laserdisc for (if I remember correctly) GvsMGII.

<font color='#000F22'>I never heard anything about a Godzilla TV show, are you perhaps referring to Godzilla's guest appearances on Zonefighter? I've seen those episodes, they are actually better and more elaborate looking than Godzilla vs. Megalon. It basically stars this alien family who fight this evil alien empire who keeps sending down all these monsters to conquer Earth. The eldest son can transform into a big Ultraman-type superhero and fights the monsters and occasionally calls on Godzilla for assistance. Gigan and King Ghidorah, also have guest appearances. Godzilla also sort of had guest appearances on Ultra Q and Ultraman, though this time it was just his suit, not his actual character.
I wonder why nobody has ever done a Godzilla anime TV show, especially since they made one of Ultraman (which I heard sadly wasn't all that good). There are mangas of most if not all of the heisei Godzilla films floating about (authored by Vampire Princess Miyu's Toshihiro Hirano), those provide some insight as to what a Godzilla anime series would look like. I personally would love to see one, if only to see if what the kaiju battles would look like rendered in the much more free world of animation and for the hot anime babes, of course.

Very cool, thanks Keith. In all of the various books I have, they always lump pictures of it in with the TV shows, so I always figured it was just another one. Now I really want to check it out someday, is it still operating?

Nope, Zonefighter is a completely different show.

You're welcome, Jeff. I don't think (but can't say for sure) that the attraction is still in operation. If you can track it down there's a nice book covering MONSTER PLANET that was released in 1994, and there's also the outtakes on the aforementioned DVD.

WitchKing, the Godzilla TV shows I was talking about aren't in the style of ZONE FIGHTER or ULTRAMAN. They're basically promotional gimics to make sure kids are familiar with Godzilla and to advertise movies or toys (like the Bandai GODZILLA ISLAND line). There were a variety of formats, but they usually have clips from the movies sfeaturing the monsters, trivia, contests, interviews with the filmmakers, studio tours... that sort of thing. I have a ton of mini-episodes (about 5-10 minutes long each) of a weekday morning show promoting GODZILLA 2000. They're very loud and silly.

Well, someone just said the word 'obscure', so I just have to put my two cents worth in. Here's a link to some background on the gone, but not forgotten Monster Planet of Godzilla ride, posted by one of the ride's designers:
http://www.trudang.com/simulatr/godzsim.html
And Saruman's Godzilla series was the Godzilla Island series (the Bandai line was a semi-tie in). The figures used to make the show were no Bandais but specially made puppets, some of whom were molded from the Bandai figures. (A lot of 'new' kaiju- as in, new versions of old characters- did appear in the show and would have made great figures, though.) Here's a link to a Japanese site that has some behind the scenes pictures and some stills from the series in what I would guess is an episode guide. Just click the non-banner links under the blue box:

From what I can gather (thank you Babelfish), two seasons worth of episodes from late '97- late '98.
