Hello y'all!

Something odd happened today that I'd like to tell you about. It began when cousin Pepe (his real name is Jose. Its like how people called Robert are also called Bob) asked me to come to his house to set up the VCR for something he wanted to tape. I went down the block and helped him out and went back, wondering whe he was going to tape.

He was going to tape himself! :O I was reviewing my books when mom asked me to come and I saw him on TV! It was a amatuer singing show on 62 (that's the channel's actual name), a spanish language tv station. Here in southern California its KRCA Riverside/LA. It was "Estudio 2," or Studio 2 where contestents sing for prize money and perhaps a shot at the big time.

Cousin Pepe was in his cowboy boots with the fancy belt, dressed like a mariachi man. He took the microphone and did it great--I was cheering for him I tell you :D . However, it wasn't great enough as he was only runner up--the winner was a man named Guadalupe. I was somewhat saddened as I was hoping for cousin to win. He's a good singer, he does karaoke and he does it in all the clubs.

(I remember once, when all the other cousins came to visit we took them to a Mexican restaurant near Universal Studios Hollywood. There Pepe invited himself to the band stand and the band played as he sang for the crowd. And quite well, the whole place was cheering. ;) )

I heard that that episode of Estudio2 would be rerun next Monday so I'll give you all the time for when it will be on. (Check local listings of course too.) You'll see him as Jose "Pepe" Reveles in the fancy black suit.

If you would like more information please go to http://www.estudio2.tv (http://www.estudio2.tv/) Its mostyl in spanish but its cool.

See you soon!

even though it's on a small show on a station only about 10 people watch that's still quite the accomplishment.

Definitely an accomplishment! This looks to be the kind of exposure your talented cousin can use more of! I love hearing this very vibrant style of music myself. I never fails to provide a great pick-up. :music:

Very keen. Runner up isn't too bad either, if it was a large competition. I probably used to see that station all the time when I lived in San Bernardino. (sadly, not speaking any Spanish, we used to turn the sound off and watch WWF wrestling... )
