Just a minor question, i just noticed Kaijuphile has an online chat room and i'm curious, does anyone even use it anymore? I always see it empty.

We have a topic pinned in the General Chat forum for "invites" (http://www.kaijuphile.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3434) to come on over and some folks have posted when they are usually in there or available. Anyone want to announce a particular subject they'd like to discuss, feel free to "schedule" in there also. It's a pretty nice set-up but make sure you have Java on the browser you'll be using enabled or it won't work.
If CHAT FIGHTER or other activities are going on, you can set up separate "rooms" so discussions, roleplaying, etc. don't have to all be competing with each other.

I've been exploring some new Chat Room options as of late. The most appealing one being built right into the Forum. I'll keep you all filled in as I investigate further!

...Sauron, if you do this I will be forever in your debt.

I'll have more info regarding this in the coming weeks. There is a major new version of the Forum software scheduled for release sometime in June, and I must wait to see what all it will include.

The ease of customization the new software will allow me to have will make for some really nifty features to be added.

I'll have more on this in coming weeks though, so stay tuned!

Hmmm. I just usually hit chat.

Have you picked the public room?

(And a chat specific account? E-mail verified and everything?)

Well, try logging on. And if it just reloads the main page, click refresh and see what happens.

It brought me back to the same spot again. This time though it said that my username is already in use? How could that be? I'm the only person named EternalMothra here?

I think your doing something wrong EM. Type in your name, and then your your password, and then press enter. Then wait for about a minute. KP chat should then pop-up.

Aren't I suppose to press chat? Well I did and it just brought me back to the same page where I log in.

EM, do you use AOL? If you are, it won't work. I tried getting on using AOL, and it doesn't let you, same goes for the forum for me though so who knows.

Could running YIM cause any issues w/ it?

A repeat from Pg. 1: Make sure you have Java ENABLED on the browser you'll be using or it won't work. IE seems to work better than Mozilla for some reason.

On IE, click TOOLS on your top bar. It should have "Sun Java Console" or go to "Internet Options." In there, click "Advanced". There will be a whole list of stuff to check off. Make sure the Java box is checked. That should make things work. :)

I'll have to do that stuff tomorrow, I found what it was Raptor btw, I hope it works though. Thank you. :)

I tried doing it again, I checked the box that stated "Java logging enabled" but it still isn't doing anything. Do I have to check everything that has to do with "Java" or just that? Cause there is one more that says, "Java console enabled". But I'm not sure what it is.

USine IE, I DO NOT have that particular thing enabled and everything works. Did you restart your computer after changing your settings? That might be part of the process also.

No, but the other feature says that it requires the computer to be restarted, so I imagine that it must be the correct one then?

Raptor

Go back into the menu and make sure the enabling is checked. I believe it even mentions restarting so that would be a necessary part of the process. Yes, it means saving/closing all the stuff that's open and backing out of Windows but that's part of it. ;) Java is quite common with many chat programs, I believe.

Yay thank you Raptor. :) I'll try doing it tonight or tomorrow. Right now I'm too engaged in debating.

Fight Club tonight, folks! Better round up more vacuum tubes or gerbils if your rig isn't up to handling the Chat Room!

EM: If you have a firewall, that might be causing problems also.

Seriously, let's try and get this straightened out for our fellow member. The Elias have been practising their pompon routines just for us! :D

I do have firewall, I guess that might be problem, nevertheless though I am too late, it started at 7, and I have been very ill today. Thank you for the help, maybe next time after the next round I could participate (since it is something I have wanted to do for a long time lol)

Tomorrow we are having some. We can't do all 64 in one night. We are doing 10 tonight.

Is there something to download in order to make it work or something?

EternalMothra
September 2nd, 2006, 12:59 AM
Okay lol, here is what I did, and it still doesn't work:

Disconnected all pop up blockers/firewalls
Reset the Java functions (so they are activated)

and then I logged in

It shows that I'm logged in, but I can not chat for some reason, it just brings be back to the log in page. When I look at the active users on the chat, it shows me, but I have no way of talking to anybody. :(

The same thing happens when I use AOL. It is rather annoying actually. Internet Explorer seems to be the best way to be in the chat room.

Yeah, my mom and I stayed up and was trying to get it to work for like 3 hours last night. It lets me log in, but I can't do anything from there. If Raptor or Battle Master has any more ideas as to how to fix this, I'm all ears lol. :)

When you go to log in, does it take you to the chat room itself, then instantly kick you back out to the log in screen or does it just never get there from the start?

When I log in the page looks like it is loading something, then it suddenly brings me back to the log in screen.

I tried registering a couple times with a new chat name and I haven't gotten any confirmation emails after at least a week. Is anyone else having that problem?

Godzilla

Yep. I think it helps to try and register under a different email. That usually works for me.

Raptor

Even if you're receiving the PM alerts from the FORUM OK, CHECK YOUR SPAM FILTER BOX.
As for any "delays", I think the chat program sends out the email as soon as the registration is completed and accepted.
Do check the TOP of the response window to make sure there hasn't been an error.
Using the same email as an established user should cause no problems.

That problem has been accuring a lot for quite some time now.
