That above is something I saw on "Kong is King." Its a neat look at the everyone's favorite, Tyrannosaurus Rex, King of the Dinosaurs! I've always been a dinosaur fan and this was rather neat for me to see. For a while, I was very worried of whether or not, Peter Jackson would have kept the Kong/T-Rex fight from King Kong 1933 but this puts my fears to rest. It also notes how the creature is called a "V-Rex."

This name confused me for awhile but yes, that seems to be what the beast is called in the universe of the movie. It differs slightly from a real Tyrannosaur and Jackson has reportedly said that the Skull Island dinosaurs have 65,000,000 more years to evolve. Therefore, this is not entirely unususal. In any case, I hope you find this useful.

All the Dinosaurs are evolved versions of their "normal" cousins found as fossils elsewhere, which is why it is called a V-Rex and not a T-Rex.

The V-Rex is larger and has the three fingers on its hands. This was a way for Jackson to keep the elements of the dinos from the original book and film without having to "update" them based on todays scientific evidence.

I've read that before, and it is a fascinating article indeed. I have to say I am really liking Peter Jackson's take on T. rex-- it has a nice vintage look [ love the crocodilian skin! ] without sacrificing the accuracy. Also, V. rex's size scares me! That's one big T. rex I'm sure you don't wanna mess with. Can't wait to see more of V. rex!

I found out what V-Rex means. Went to KongisKing.net and the folks there say that in designing the dinos, they gave them name, came up with various latin phrases. They picked up a King Kong toy box at Comic-Con and V-Rex stands for...

Vastatosaurus Rex. Its latin for Devestating Lizard King.

There was also another critter. A predator called Venatosaurus or hunting lizard. It may be a Raptor of some sort. They also said that they were going to release a book on beasties!

The real scoop is a wonderful mock-up he showed me of a new book being produced called WORLD OF KONG: A NATURAL HISTORY OF SKULL ISLAND by Weta Workshop. Think of it as a field guide to Skull Island Cretures! Very cool stuff, a must -have for every one of us! Ben confirmed what the Kiwis in the group already know, that the critters in the trailer that Denham fights off are in fact Wetas!

Anyways, I look forward to this book, it could prove quite interesting to a dinosaur/kaiju fan such as myself.

Well they report on a clip from the film they saw and it concerned the big fight between Kong and the Rex and it proved... interesting. Secret info up ahead!

The correspondent wrote about what he saw and said that Kong wuld in fact be fighting... I'm not telling, I don't wanna ruin the surprise for those who want to save it for the movie!:laugh:
