    Total agreement.

So, anyone interested in hearing some ideas and offering suggestions for a project of mine?

    Yeah, they should.

Nobody in comics, though, has Fed up like Derleth did Lovecraft's works, though..

    *shrug*

Since I'm not a big TT fan, I can't really comment on that, though I agree with you in principle in the sense that editors/writers should sometimes leave well enough alone (*cough* Bendis *cough*).

The thing is, that they've just taken a dump on one of the key principles of one of the characters. Trigon was only supposed to have one kid, not be the demon like a rolling stone! That ticks me off, simply because you'd think they'd at least not mess up a minor title like TT...

Good thing I don't read TT...

Marvel still has some pretty *****in' titles going round, like Iron Fist, Thor, or Thunderbolts. Now if they'd just ditch Loeb and Bendis and focus more on Ellis and Carey for their star writers...

Which is why I'm looking forward to Final Crisis more than Secret Invasion, despite how disappointing Countdown was. Grant Morrison + Geoff Johns = awesomeness.

Yeah. What the hell is up with DC and Marvel, lately? Seems like they take any character they please and F them up. Just look at the recent garbage in TT...

Still sounds convoluted to me. You'd be better off brushing up on your ability to present these sort of things, because the way you wrote that backstory comes off as incredibly overcomplicated. No offense, but it was hard reading, and not in a good way...

It...is better then it sounds. Trust me.

Most of this isn't revealed until later on in the series, through events with other characters who dealt with the past.

It mostly focuses on the main group, the Ronin themselves, the events of the past (Which I didn't even TRY to go into major detail here. There's a LOT more to them then this, but a lot of it would ruin plot points) left ambiguous until later in the series, were, gradually, they learn what happened. Up until then, the most they know is "Alien is sending down things that want to kill you," and that's all they NEED to know.

The backstory isn't really that convoluted, honestly. Just, well, I gave you a rush job over view of everything. The best way to describe it is a series of events continuing and escalating to a point, then beyond that. It IS, however, rather complicated.

However, it is not what drives the series. The heroes and the villains do that...tid bits on them coming up.

    That was...convoluted...

Seriously, this is why I shy away from giving my characters incredibly detailed, involved backgrounds, cause it seldom works and becomes a big pain in the *** for me to write.

That said, I guess it sounds good, even if you lost me a third of the way through...

Well then, might as well get the ball rolling.

I have a super hero story, purely original, titled Lightning Ronin. Taking the general idea of Super Sentai and molding it into my own thing...

It 'starts' on Earth, in 2005. Really, it starts long, long before then...but the back story is its own monster.

It takes place, sort of, after Enshoma's own Sam Robo, as LR takes place in the same continuity. Mostly. It's complicated.
One thing right off the bat: LR is no where near as comedy driven as Sam Robo is...in fact, it's more dramatic with comedy (mostly due to the human characters) interlaced within.

Thousands of years before, the universe had nearly been conqured by a great threat known as Ceronus...and to fight him, a group of aliens linked together and discovered a nigh unlimited power source, the Roner Core. From the Core, they crafted five drives for them, and became the Roner Ronin to fight against Ceronus.

In the end, they would seal him away...and a dark force, known as Kaiser Diaborah, would arise and cause the Ronin's down fall, but not before two of the Roner Ronin crafted new, though markably less powerful, drives called Sphears, mixed with the element of Lightning. The Lightning Ronin.

They bestowed this power upon five chosen humans...and then the Kaiser created a sixth, mixing not just lightning...but a Dragon's soul as well. He gave this Sphear to another human.

The original Lightning Ronin, fighting against the sixth, would end up dying as the Roner Ronin were wiped out and disbanded one after another.

The daughter of the leader of the Roner Ronin, Beta3, would gather the Lightning Sphears just in case the Kaiser ever returned to Earth.

In 2005, he did. She released the Lightning Sphears, which searched for new owners.

The first would land in front of a farm helper, Jordan, in Tennessee.

Two days later, the second would find its host, a swimmer Hispanic girl named Alex Fernandez (She is actually Sam Fernandez's cousin) in a small town some where in Puerto Rico.

A day after that, another would find young Will Hellroy in London.

Three days after, the fourth would find Miss Anna in Canada...

and a Week later, the fifth one would find Rick Daemon in New York City.

As each one found their own Sphear, they must learn how to use it on their own, and quickly as the Kaiser's generals come down to test them, from the warrior Twilight, to the Old Man Thorn, to a monstrous Golem commander, to the brilliant Thea Salon, finally to the genocidal nuclear nightmare, Dokuver.

And when they are all together? A monster appears, Irion.

Sounds a bit too much like Power Rangers? Remember this: the aliens they face later on not only have lives...they are remarkably like humans in a lot of ways. The lives they take in this war to survive are not simple constructs: they are living, thinking, feeling beings.

And in more then one way, it comes back to haunt them.

Add in the fact that none of the new Ronin get along that well when they first meet...

And the fact that their Earth used to be a lot like DC or Marvel, as in it had Super Heroes everywhere...until an event occurred. The Fall of Heroes.

    Where every last hero died.

So, Lightning Ronin, its up to you. You're the last men standing...can you survive?

I can go into more detail on them themselves, or their powers, if you wish.

Select folks. If I missed anyone they can join or ask me for an invitation. I generally tried to cover the folks that are into or regularly discuss this stuff around here. Still waiting on like, 15 others to accept their invitations.

So are the invites random, or sent to selected people..?

That'd be correct. Just a way to make it somewhat different from our regular discussions in the other boards.
