Swords and Wizardry?
Remember back a summer or two ago when Clint was gonna do an Old School D&D game on the boards? Well, predictably, his writing took precedence over it, and it died out before it could even get started. I thought that CL would have made an amazing game, and I was pretty excited about it, as was everyone else, and I was pretty bummed when it died. But there it lay, just a little ways down the page.
Not too long ago, whilst looking in about the controversial Carcosa OD&D supplement, I found the Mythmere Games site, which had a game built on the OD&D ruleset via the OGL called Swords and Wizardry. The rules were free, as well as a bunch of rule options and new classes and monsters, all well done in a professional format in PDF and doc. files. I downloaded them, and shortly after reading about them, was excited about the possibilities. I love d20 and whatnot, but I dont get to play it much, and I know for sure playing it over a message board would involved quite a bit of bookkeeping.
With these rules however, since theyre so simple and allow for alot of DM interpretation, could. You could roll up and have a character on an index card pretty easily. Theres not much more to it, really.
Since the rules are free, and free and accessible, I think I might want to try something like it on the boards here.
Anyone interested in something like this?
