Godzilla's Appearance
How do you want Godzilla's design to look in the new Legendary Pictures' Godzilla film?
Personally, I'd love to see an updated version of the Heisei Godzilla.
So far, we only have one official image from Legendary:
However, they have been clear this is not the final design, and is only concept art. In my opinion, I loved the design in this concept art.

Re: Godzilla's Appearance
As long as he resembles the REAL Godzilla, I'm fine with anything. All I ask for is this film to pay TRUE tribute to what Godzilla really is, not the 1998 crap we got. If he looks like the image released, I'm ok.

Re: Godzilla's Appearance
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: if you're going to go CG, take advantage of it. Removing the human frame is as simple as giving Godzilla that digitigrade stance, like the 98 movie, but please make it look sturdier!
In my opinion, this is the best I've seen:

It's reminiscent of the Heisei Godzilla, but it teeters between the traditional upright stance, and the parallel tail-stance generally accepted in paleontology. It makes the most sense for an animal that large. . . Yeah, yeah, physics has no place in this, I know, but it looks great. That's what I'm really liking about the rejected fan art we've seen already. It was simple, but in a good way.
Godzilla 1998 went too far with the "he's too fast to hit" gimmick (I expected to see a bullet-hole ridden building with a clear patch in the center with GINO's shape), but if you look at some of the redesigns on the net Godzilla's too developed, too angry, too spikey, too everything. Going too far in any direction is still going too far. Just take the classic Godzilla and throw on some dinosaur-like traits, and you're good to go as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Godzilla's Appearance
That's why the Winston/Delgado design was so perfect, too bad it'll never see the light of day.

Re: Godzilla's Appearance
Meh. That picture Legendary put out is okay. Not great. Not terrible.
The picture DinoGeek brought back up is pretty much perfect.
The fanart I've seen of the Legendary Godzilla is universally apalling.

Yeah that's the Winston/Delgado design. Like I said, perfect.

Re: Godzilla's Appearance
Man, that Stan Winston design was really something else. I'm not a fan of Godzilla looking like the incredible hulk with spikes, a tail, and a snout. But I'm for getting him to look a little different. Like, as people stated before, the Winston design.
When I think extreme, two things pop to mind.
1. Gino
2. This... People like this, but I'm not for it at all. Again, I feel like someone took the Incredible Hulk, snapped some spikes on him, gave him a tail and snout, and went WAY too overboard with the whole thing...

Re: Godzilla's Appearance
That was exactly the example I was thinking of when I mentioned him being "too everything." Though, it doesn't particularly irk me until I read a comment like, "but the fan boys want a guy in a suit instead of something cool." No, what I want is a sympathetic animal, and Godzilla can't be sympathetic if his badassery is cranked up to 11.
Still, it could always be worse. There are the guys who are all about "reimagining Godzilla," like so:
And then there are people who think Godzilla just has to be big and breath fire:
What is it with people and throwing on additional sets of eyes, anyway?

Oh, and the other things are atrocious, too, but I wouldn't mind seeing Godzilla fight that second thing.
