Question Old stories that need attention?

We have about seven that haven't been touched since we moved to the new server:

CLASH OF THE TITANS
DUEL OF THE FATES: The Great Escape!
THE ROOSTVILLE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL(TM)
THROUGH A KAIJU'S EYES

These are on the SECOND PAGE of the Chronicles sub-forum.
Maybe THROUGH A KAIJU'S EYES could be revived as an AU tale or something. It is a neat premise!
CLASH OF THE TITANS has Orks if anyone wants to write about the,. Oh yeah - and robots and aliens.
Halloween has fun possibilities (Like April 1st! )
DUEL fell by the wayside somehow...
That's about where we stand with the oldest stuff.

Speaking of old stories, I'm in the mood for some BUMPAGE!!! Prepare to see many of the "older" tales brought back into the spotlight...

i wouldn't mind bringing the Roostville Robots to a close, as its simply taking up space at this point. same thing with This is Roostville. that one was only supposed to last from January to Apirl, supposed to end on the Roost's birthday. its now almost a year since its supposed end date. if i could get some help, we could get it finished by this birthdate.

Rodan2000

PS: speaking of which, where did This is Roostville go? it wasn't finished, and it was somewhat forgotten, but i did have plans for its ending.

Thumbs Up Re: Old stories that need attention?

Set your preferences to SHOW ALL threads. I went ahead and stuck it for easy reference until it gets cranked up again.
I intend to do a post also.
Everyone might want to take a look at Battrarules: War of the Worlds as it takes place even BEFORE this one and has some key posts in there. Everything should tie together real well.
Wrapping it as an "anniversary present" sounds like a great idea! RADOGOJI VS. IRYS touches on one particular incident when Roostville was first founded.

Default About the RR's

I've been looking at all the RR's in Roostville and at Roost Fighter, and I am confused. (that part is a quote from Lewis Black.) I think we need to stricter rules on how people run their RR's. Like having a begining, a middle, and most importantly a end. I mean look at Aftermath, it just keeps on going and going, until people just get sick and tired of it and forget about it. Then it moves it gets bumped down into obsecurity at page three or four. Then a new RR pumps and it is the same thing. I mean look at Roostville vrs. Roost Fighter. Or all the fics and RR's that are on Roostville's main site. Look at it people, look! Like 70 or 80% percent of it are unfinished stories. Does anybody think that they are going to be completed, I don't.

So here is what I think we should do, first of all make rules to make sure that a RR gets going into the right direction. So maybe it will have a long thread, but it goes somewhere, not what we most of the RR's here doing. And the RR's and fics too that are not being updated or not going to be updated should be deleted. Because I for one am sick of seeing all this RR and projects like Roostville vrs. Roost Fighter just go nowhere and take up space.

Might have ranted alittle too much there, but I think the point is clear. So I would like to here from the mods of Roostville to see what they have to say.

Question Re: About the RR's

Very often, when a RR begins, there is a little "Introduction" included and any "rules" lined out (like don't identify the killer/solve the mystery, etc.) so things don't USUALLY wanter too far afield, maybe other than AFTERMATH did. I am thinking those sub-plots (Dracula, Neo's & KK's stuff, etc.) WILL get resolved. Of course, these stories can very well inspire "side trips", as appears to be the case here. Without that happening, I believe some of them would have died a much slower death!

UNFINISHED TALES:

It has been suggested that someone simply take the things and "wrap 'em up". Maybe get with the instigator and see if they had a particular resolution in mind and aim toward that. If not, have at it or ask for suggestions in the RR's Discussion topic.
There are some (like THE JALEPINO CLUB and EVIL LAIR) which should stay open as they also serve as an "entry point" into the RV universe. COPS is a collection of vignettes rather than a RR.
What I particularly would like to see get wrapped up is the HISTORY OF JET JAGUAR as it would fit into the earliest "history" of Roostville. any others that might need "special" attention?

DEP is suposed to be doing something about the Emerald Sword, and a big Blue Devil vs Chronos match to finish things up.

Thumbs Up Re: About the RR's

RV vs. RF has an "outline", as well as what TBD mentioned. Several characters are also playing "cat and mouse" with each other in this tale but it should be no problem to get them to "settle their differences".
No doubt some "gizmo" similiar to Phish's black hole generator will also come into play and either get the Roost Fighters back where they came from or blow up the world in the process. Either way, this one should be easy to wrap up when the time is right.

I agree with Bagoth about Roostville v.s. Roost Fighter, some of us need to "re-invigorate" that.

About most of the RR's, some of them (AFTERMATH, IUDT) have extremely detailed plans behind them that we the writers are still working out. But there's a good portion of stuff that will probably never be touched again.

One example I'm thinking of is "And so it begins..." which serves no purpose whatsoever and could be deleted no problem. Besides, Middle-Earth is supposed to be ancient history, not a functioning country (which is the impression I got from that tale)...

Now then: A PM has been sent around as a few folks would really like to see ROOSTVILLE pick up the pace a bit.
Possibly, focusing on just ONE round robin would be a good way to go until it gets completed. Of course, if someone wants to work on another, feel free.

ROOSTVILLE: THE SERIES is supposed to be a particularly concentrated effort so it should see further development, I would think. The Discussion thread has been cleaned up of chit-chat and "dated" posts. I would suggest that those who have posted in there review your questions/concerns and see if they have been answered/address. If so, please DELETE the original post and leave a note that you have done so. I would think the character notes and plot development discussion should remain myself. If it involves how an episode is presented on the web site, make sure any changes have been made and then DELETE the post about it.

The thing about INCOMPLETE story efforts is that whatever is left hanging quickly loses its impact. I don't believe anyone who has written these often excellent and imaginative entries want to see their work "going to waste" so let's see what we can do about getting some storytelling - Roostville style - going again.

I PM'd Ilúvatar on 11/26 on this one and haven't received a response. For all practical purposes, we could ust go and delete it.
