Re: Godzilla '98 of a Different Sort
Just got wind of this fic. I don't visit Kaiju Phile's fanfiction section often enough I guess.
Comment time! Yay!
I approve of this fanfiction whole-heartedly. It's an excellent parody of the original and, while I was expecting more of a "Godzilla vs. Tetsuo As A Monster*" ending, I was pleasantly surprised that you had kept it more true to the Tristar version, even if Mothra did make a quick cameo.
Two little gripes I have about this is I saw "pray" used instead of "prey" once, and my favorite character from the '98 filck, Philippe, was missing.
Now for my one and only big complaint about the fic: I didn't like the ending. I'm sorry, but I just don't see good ol' Tetsuozilla placing himself in that situation. Despite his aside comment to animal ("Anguirus wanted a fight so I gave him one.") I just don't don't see how Tetsuo would want to run around the world fighting monsters. I can imagine him not wanting to retire, but joining Nick in his world-wide mutant studies just seems like an invitation to put himself in the sort of "Monster-of-the-Week" fight-fest that was the founation of both the old Hanna-Barbera Godzilla cartoon and the newer '98-based Godzilla cartoon.
*To be honest, I had half-expected this fic to end with Gojira fighting Tetsuo, who had mutated into GINO.
EDIT: After reading Juan's comments, it does kind of seem like Mothra's appearance was forced. Even if you had just thrown in an errant "And in a place, a black, winged shadow could be seen in the moonlit clouds." somewhere, that'd at least have made Mothra's appearance seem like than she had just happened to have been in the neighborhood to see CATS when Gojira was on the bridge.

Like I said, this was an idea I came up with a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, back when I was a lot younger and didn't know better.

Re: Godzilla '98 of a Different Sort
I just spent all day reading this and I loved every minute of it! I kind of guessed Tetsuo was Godzilla when I saw him hide the claw, but I wasn't sure until I saw the part where his clothes were stuck to Godzilla's leg.
I really loved how you inserted the real Godzilla into the same scenes as GINO, I had a lot of fun picturing it all in my head XD
The talking Godzilla was a lot of fun. Who doesn't dream of riding on his head or in his hand when he takes a walk? ^_^

Re: Godzilla '98 of a Different Sort
Glad you liked this one too. It's just so very...different than your run of the mill Goji stories.
