Re: Chancellor Bush declares Congress threat to USA
I'm pretty sure, in fact quite confident, that what Bush means in his statement is the fact that EVERYTHING he does, no matter how minor or trivial it is, gets politicized and investigated for yet more shallow reasons to try and impeach him by Democrats in Congress. Also how the Democrats are constantly playing games with things that deal with matters of national security, which they have been since 2005.
And the whole NSA thing HAS been on the books since at least the Carter Administration, if not earlier. So again, it's just ONE more thing that is getting blown out of proportion.

Re: Chancellor Bush declares Congress threat to USA
Congress is a threat to common sense. Half those *******s should be shot...
The other half need to be hung.
And Dr S. knock off trying to drag the Third Reich into everything. Bush is too much of a bumble**** to be Hitler. Hell, he'd have to get a massive influx of competence just to reach Mussolini's standards.

Is it even the first time he's done so? The man has stooped lower. If you don't think he's right, you're not a patriot in his eyes.

No, I get that from liberals saying they're going to seize profits from corporations and forcibly enrole everyone in their health care scam. Just what we need, another beauracracy sinking its mits into everyone's paycheck.
Hitler didn't disband the German Reichstag, he just outlawed every party in Germany that wasn't the Nazi party. I'd expect you to know that.

You can't ban parties in the US.
Thus, you take the other route.

Compare notes, I'm pretty sure Bush has been investigated and/or accused for some of the most trivial of **** more times than Clinton, or possibly any other president before him. It's gotten so bad and so ridiculous that I'm surprised he hasn't been investigated for sneezing the wrong way, or not eating his vegetables.
Because I wouldn't be surprised, at this point, if I saw " Bush Not Eating His Vegetables! Congressional Democrats Vow to Investigate." on the cover of a newspaper.
But yeah, party politics is pretty damn stupid, and it pisses me off that they're pulling this kind of **** when they should be more concerned with other things, much more important things. I'm worried, and a bit scared, this it's only going to get worse for future presidents.

Try as you can to draw distinctions, man, it's the same thing.
A two-term President with divisive qualities up against a Congress controlled by the opposition.
A natural outgrowth of the Party system, wherein gangs get into pathetic little turf wars with all of our lives.
Don't get defensive because you happen to LIKE the man being pilloried (although I, for the life of me, can't see HOW).
The time will come when YOU despise the man in power-
And you will take satisfaction in his every minor, trifling humiliation.
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep arguing over what to have for dinner.
Get over it.

No Cole, wolves have some touch of nobility about them. I'd liken it more to a pack of hyenas scrabbling over the festering carcass of a lion, thinking somehow that because they fill their mouths with the stuff of lions they themselves are somehow something more than filthy hyenas picking at the dead.

Yeah I know Cole, I was pretty much agreeing with you. I was mainly just making the observation that it's gotten MUCH worse with Bush's situation, and shows the signs of becoming even moreso with future presidents.

That's unfair to Hyenas....they know when to pull together and work for the good of the pack every once and a while.

I just find politics as a whole to be a threat nowadays, hence why I don't watch the news regarding it on TV often lol.

Re: Bush declares Congress threat to USA
Sadly, politics effect all of us....
I mean hey, let's borrow money from China and give everyone tax breaks!
Except...who do you think will pay the interest and that rest of the money back...
in TAXES.
Yep, that's stupid.
As for the current situation, it would be nice to see candidates actually say what they stand for and not tip-toe and blame each other for everything. It's reality TV gone bad (and it was already quite terrble).
"What is your greatest weakness?" someone asked.
"Well, I think I just care about the little kids of this world too much. It's such a hard thing ti deal with."
Pfft.

I beg to differ.
Not counting Reagan (who was still roundly despised in SOME circles), EVERY President since the advent f TV has been hounded in one way or another.
And Clint-
Noble or not, they'll still pull that stupid little sheep apart if it'll fill their bellies.

" Party" politics? First it was an identity crisis and when the field starts getting thinned, even Democrats don't know how to function as a unit.
An interesting look at the Republicans. Come November, wonder how many voters are simply going to write in Mickey Mouse...

Good God in the foothills! I actually agree with SXAsh and Morgoth on Bush for once! The FISA law and all that were in place since Nixon's term.
As for Bush and Hitler, a) Bush too dumb. Oh god, I said a bad word, the HalliSS gonna- sees them standing. Pulls out double-barrelled Remington. Shop Smart, Shop S-Mart! Little weenies run away.
As for what the Democrats are doing to Bush, I do wonder....in the middle of all this investigating....what's being done to end the five-year Iraq War, the approaching seven-year Afghanistan intervention, and to deal with our 260 billion dollar debt to China: (source in link: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Inter...1867118&page=1) and the economy (it ain't collapsed yet, but ain't that sturdy, either) or the flood of immigrants into this nation?
Why are they harassing a lame-duck President and hack baseball players? Oh, wait, I got it, they're powerless! America's Parliament lacks the stones to take on a real foe. As in...the guys we are still fighting two wars against.

Re: Bush declares Congress threat to USA
^Indeed. Congress could, you know be doing stuff and they're going after baseball players? If they want to investigate a genuine bit of governmental incompetence that's been there since the department was created, try the VA for a change!
Walter Reed didn't emerge in the vacuum of the Bush Administration, after all.....
And furthermore, any state which relies on a KGB/Gestapo/Thought Police mechanism cannot last. Why? Look at Russia, after Stalin died. Within thirty years, under Brezhnev, corruption became endemic, almost to the point that it made the old Tsars look like experts. And also, when the Tsar Ivan IV was leader, Tsardom actually worked. By Alexander III's time, he was the Brezhnev/Andropov/Chernekeno of the Tsardom all merged into one. Look at the Ottomans, a vast empire that began to reach stagnation. Look at Nationalist China in the 1930s, look at Iran by the time the Ayatollah Khomeini realized Allah wasn't going to smite Saddam for him, look at the PRC post-Mao. Dictatorships can be mighty, and their leaders mighty men indeed. Yet, within a quarter-century at most, the revolutionary fervor of the founding generation vanishes. Assuming, of course, that the dictatorship is revolutionary. Counter-revolutionary ones tend even more towards stagnation.

Ha, yeah I find investigations into baseball kinda interesting.
But I also think the sport should police itself and hire others (non-government) to help. The Mitchell report is one thing; blasting Clemens and his former trainer is quite another.
Dear Congress,
Why not do something useful and worthwhile?

Re: Bush declares Congress threat to USA
You guys do know that Congress is pratically powerless, right? The Dems might have the majority but the Reps still hold enough votes to block any legislation that is to be passed and if it's not them, then Bush just vetoes it anyways. The Reps are the ones drilling Clemens and wanting to put the Patriots on trial and the Dems just seem kind of lost.

Hey, Goji Son! When is Texas going to secede? Alaska and Vermont might be interested also. Republics might be the way to go. Want to get rid of freeloaders and others within your borders holding the state back? SHIP 'EM TO DC! Or maybe we can talk Arizona into building a a nice big prison colony. Maricopa County has the most effective Sheriff in the entire country! Oh. States will have to pay the jail fees or he'll send 'em back.
