Shout! Factory Licenses POWER RANGERS and Other Saban Series
Shout! Factory and Saban have signed an agreement granting Shout home video and digital distribution rights to Saban properties like POWER RANGERS, VR TROOPERS and BEETLEBORGS...

Yes! Finally! That these DVDs are coming from Shout! is a pleasant surprise, too.

Re: Shout! Factory Licenses POWER RANGERS and Other Saban Series
I'm SHOCKED Burkion hasn't weighed in on this (by which I mean "gushed with joy").
That said, this is awesome news. I've been following the thread over at S!F's site, and while there hasn't been much news there, there IS a preorder offer available on Amazon.com for the MMPR Season 1 Vol. 1 set. I'm not entirely a fan of breaking up seasons as home video distributors often do, but I'm hoping they'll do something similar to their Transformers releases in the past and put out complete season box sets as website-exclusive "Shout! Select" titles (and then of course make them available on Amazon after a time for other folks ). No announcements on that front yet, though; at least not until the press release comes out.
P.S. They also have a "first alert" email newsletter signup on their site (telling when the DVDs will become available, of course) for MMPR, as well as Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, and Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation. Ninja Turtles I honestly don't care about, but the former three I certainly DO. And here's hoping they consider Masked Rider, too!

Re: Shout! Factory Licenses POWER RANGERS and Other Saban Series
Shout! Factory has announced MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: SEASON ONE, VOLUME ONE plus a 40-disc set of POWER RANGERS SEASONS 1-7. Based on available info these DVD sets are for the Saban versions only, not the original Japanese Super Sentai from Toei…

Well, that'd suck. An official subbed release of the orignal Sentai series would be great, especially considering not a lot of the series from the 90's have full fan subs. Especially/specifically the ones Saban used for MMPR up to Lost Galaxy, which is what the two full box sets cover.

And for those of you who aren't satisfied with Season 1 being split in half, but don't have the money to cover what'll undoubtedly be a HUGE price tag for the 40-DVD set, there's also a box set coming of JUST Season 1, due out the same day of the huge set.

I mentioned that these releases are for the Saban versions because Shout's deal is with Saban, not Toei. Anytime there's news about a POWER RANGERS release somebody will ask if the Japanese Super Sentai versions will be included, but in the 19 years since Saban started doing PR they have never shown any interest in releasing the original versions here-- even when the franchise was at its peak of popularity. Knowing Shout Factory, I'd bet they'd like to do the Japanese versions as well, but they have 700 episodes of Saban's version to deal with right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Shout includes some Japanese-related extras, but subbed seasons of the Super Sentai probably is unlikely for the near future.

Re: Shout! Factory Licenses POWER RANGERS and Other Saban Series
EDIT: Never mind, it appears that Shout! Factory has taken the Seasons 1-3 set off the store for some reason.
Hopefully it's just temporary, like that G.I. Joe slipcase box set that just came out (which also mysteriously disappeared from their store, only to return a month later).
